Nice job on the corn. I can’t believe this. I keep looking to you for that bar to grow my garden. We got 72 quart freezer bags of corn on 250 feet. The wife is finishing up our 50th quart of tomatoes. Can’t wait to can up our marinara sauce next. Got to say this year has been productive. Lots of what I do I got from your channel. Thanks man.

@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm Жыл бұрын
It has some calcium in it. So if your soil is deficient in calcium, it could help. But often times blossom end rot is a calcium uptake issue -- most people have enough calcium in their soil already.

Last week I was having to water my garden twice a day and everything barely survived. I just couldn't figure out what was going on until I watched Danny's video @Deep South Homestead about something rare called a Flash Drought. His and Wanda's Homestead really suffered through it. 5 days of that flash drought has devastated several farmsteads. In my lifetime I've never heard of such a thing. However, I'm sure I'll be witnessing many things before my time is up. Blessings from my corner in Southeast Mississippi.

I enjoyed todays episode! We get enough rain here that the wine grape farmers in Niagara can technically dry farm but the farmer I buy my grapes from has drip irrigation. When we go through a hot dry spell he turns on the drip and the grapes thrive, the guys who are dry farming have their vines basically shut down which reduces quality and yield! I have been following the micro dose method for my transplants for a very long time, on my small scale I use Schultz water, just add 7 drops of Schultz per L or quart. It’s not organic but my soil gets compost every year! I hope we all get the rain we need!!! Klaus
@pilsplease7561
@pilsplease7561 Жыл бұрын
That logic is wrong, when dry farming it reduces yield but significantly increases the quality of the grapes and gives far better wine due to struggling which concentrates the flavors and aromas of the grapes and makes a superior wine. I am a winemaker.
@WhatWeDoChannel
@WhatWeDoChannel Жыл бұрын
@@pilsplease7561 what you are saying is true within certain weather per amateurs but if the weather gets really hot and dry the berries can stop normal ripening until the weather improves, at least in Niagara! It’s not conjecture on my part but the experience of what actually happens over years of winemaking. I agree that lower yields can equal better quality, in 2021 we had a cool fall and the grapes were left hanging so long the vines didn’t have time after harvest to accumulate enough energy to get them properly through the winter, in spring 2022 they only had about 30% of the buds survive. The yields were very low. I was still able to get my hands on grapes. The Cab Sauv and Merlot are so concentrated I can hardly believe it, wonderful stuff! Not so great for the farmer but great for me. Klaus
@pilsplease7561
@pilsplease7561 Жыл бұрын
@@WhatWeDoChannel Out here in california the fruit ripens before the brix is where it should be a lot of the time so you want vines to struggle and concentrate the flavors if you cant get that then you want to saignee like 50% of the juice and throw it away. Most wineries wont make any wine if it rains a lot through the year out here cause rain will basically ruin wines they wont have any complexity and will be bland.

Hey Travis, I like your idea of micro dosing your plant starts with the Agrothrive. This approach seems like its more consistent for the plants, easier to remember, and cost reasonable. Is there a percentage of the standard dose that you would recommend or just wing it? Would this work well with the veggies in the garden as well? Thanks for the great videos, keep’em comIng…

Do you think it might be possible to extract some additional nitrogen from some NatureSafe 13-0-0, either with an AACT system or some other extraction process? I'd like to fortify the AgroThrive 3-3-5 with some additional soluble nitrogen for the leeks and Painted Mountain corn drip system. You can also use an Ortho type hose end sprayer to deliver your AgroThrive solution if you don't have a drip system and don't mind the leaves getting wet.

I'm not sure about the 13-0-0. But Nature Safe does have the 7-7-7 that is water-soluble, although quite sticky.
