Obviously we're biased, but we would absolutely recommend a 924 as an ideal classic car. Compared to other 80's cars, they're very solid and reliable! Thanks for the shout out. We have a huge resource of support for our members.

Compared to other '80 solid and reliable, I have a 1985 190 diesel which has been 100% reliable the past 3 years I own it, but that's probably also the most brick of a car you could have those days anyways. Love the 924 though 👌

@@924oc You could say that indeed. Quality was far superior to what it is today. Nowadays to be honest there isn't much what comes close to that quality. It might sound weird but maybe a brand like Suzuki is closest. Build to last, built to be serviced, maintained, everything has a purpose and is well thought through. Build to be used basically.

I figured out why I love this series so much - it reminds me of old-school Roadkill. Just a bunch of dudes with a good sense of humour working on a car and trying to do ridiculous things to it in real-world conditions. AKA, how car KZbin should be all the time. Don't change a thing guys, this is magic.

Top tip: don't just twist bolts you think might snap off due to rusting. Once it moves a little, tighten it back up and repeat. After a little bit of back and forth, the chance of it coming out in one piece is apparrently much better. At least on exhaust manifold bolts, though should work for others aswell.

But a few months ago I got back on the train again. Especially love these three together. The overall dynamic and feel of the group is even better than with Alex. Now I can't wait for a new episode of what ever car they are fixing up at the time. My current top 2 channel. During this episode I even caught myself wishing I had friends like that to hang out and work on cars with. Keep doing what you're doing guys, we love it.

Starter looks like an old VW type 1,2, 3, or 4 style starter, they go bad on the regular (especially if its a reman with questionable origins). I'd spring for a new high torque version. I'd also check all your ground straps, if its heating up but still working usually means theres a resistance issue.

On cars that old and crusty I'd strongly recommend you soak every nut or bolt in panther piss for hours and then heat it before you try to remove any of them. Also you should loosen just a tiny amount, then tighten back up, then rinse and repeat until the thing is loose. Takes some extra time, but less time than pulling engines and transmissions to remove broken studs and bolts.

Before you get too carried away with the starter motor make sure you put the big ground wire back on the bellhousing. I missed that on a 944 clutch job and had the same problem. Think about whats more likely: Your starter just so happened to die right after doing a major repair involving its removal, or you missed something on installation.
