Great interviews! I watched this on my TV initially, so I couldn't comment right away, finally on my phone and able to now. Always interesting to see different perspectives, it really shows how destructive the JW experience usually is and that finding a healthy path for each of us individually is important! Whether, Christian, Atheist or even somewhere in between. Being Yourself and Healthy is what matters! You are both such beautiful people!!! 💗

Falon, I look forward to a more detailed video regarding your spiritual experience with Jesus. I woke up in 2021 but never lost faith in God but i felt spiritually lost for a couple years...then around this time last year i had a spiritual awakening experience which completely changed my perspective on life for the better. I didn't see or hear Jesus, even though I do look to/follow Jesus as the perfect exemplar, but i don't really call myself Christian because i don't wanna be affiliated with religion, since Spirituality is much bigger and broader than religion. With that said, i do believe that your experience, "being born again," near death experiences and spiritual awakenings are really all the same spiritual experience, all connected to God's grace/love.

I love hearing the stories. I think in some ways because I have been out since 2006 but really OUT in the last year, that there is validation in the feelings I have. My brother asked me when we were dealing with my mom "why don't you go back to meetings" and the thing I told him is "There is no love or kindness inside the hall." I couldn't go. I also watched Leah Remini's Scientology series and thought the same - "THIS IS JW"S" and then she had the episode on JW's - it was a little scary as I wasn't out out. Finding all of these podcasters has helped me really come to the conclusion that all of this is a bunch of nonsense and I am right in my feelings. Plus, all you have to do is listen to the JW Broadcasting and you can see the nonsense.

@@DiffiCULTChildhood thanks Falon. I left for the most part years ago, late 90’s. Due to the hypocrisy and fakers .Unfortunately I believed they were the truth , just not living up to it . But i didn’t keep up to date with them. Enter Covid and the GB pushing the jab and other things they were saying, i looked into everything and realised they are not the truth not a bit. But actually following the Bible and being a Christian i 109% believe and try to live. Nothing like they taught us. In my opinion the religion literally is a reverse psychology to turn people away from God 🤷. Thats why most who leave do. I am always pleased to see those who don’t. Best wishes

I can totally relate to the realisation of not understanding the Bible. When I came to learn that the book of Revelation was about events leading up to and including the destruction of the Temple in A.D.70 and that all prophecy was fulfilled, i was shocked. It all happened within that generation. ( Matthew 24:34; 16:27,28) Revelation was written to the seven congregations of things soon to come upon then. ( Revelation 1:1-4; 22:10)

In answer to the question about the role of women, we have to remember that the bible was written in an era where Women were not looked up to as equal to men CULTURALLY. It is Clear how Jesus felt about women. But the fact that Paul asked women to be quiet in church is not necessarily the way GOD intended it. It's the same as men who got married to more than one woman in the bible. That was accepted culturally but not necessarily how God intended to be. Many things happened after sin that was not intended. Yes, God expected men to lead, But women were made to be equal to men, not to be trampled on or treated like an inferior. The Bible Tells a story about imperfect human beings. But we are expected to live according to what God intended. The role of the woman is to live Utilizing whatever talents God has given her, In the home on the job And in the church.

Would you please, please, talk more about your journey into sobriety? I'm an exjw struggling w alcoholism, and 12-step programs feel too primed for cultism for me to integrate myself into them comfortably.
@DiffiCULTChildhoodАй бұрын
Hey Theo. I feel you on the 12-step program. For many reasons, not the least of which is that making the statement that I am powerless doesn’t to me work as a good solution when trying to do something that’s pretty hard. Plus my atheist POV just doesn’t make it any easier to try to reach out to a god or “the universe,” which is an indifferent place in my opinions. However, I have some things that have helped me a lot. I’m gonna do a video on this later this week with more detail on what’s worked for me. It’s a lot to cover in a comment like this. So here are my top things, and like I said, I will go into more depth with a video. 1. Realizing that the first week of alcohol cravings after quitting are the worst and it doesn’t stay that bad. That isn’t forever. I can get thru 5-7 days of bad cravings. I can’t get thru forever like that. So if I’m having cravings or just a bad day, I try to remember the desire to drink won’t stay this strong for life. I still have waves from time to time, but right now, I just walked past a bar and a martini just sounds like a head and stomachache to me. 2. Talk therapy with a therapist who is also an atheist has been a huge help. She’s helped me figure out why I drank. And the answer was that I was going through divorce and that I was losing all my family and friends and being shunned. AND on top of that, learning how to live outside a high control cult. Things were really awful and stressful. Drinking served me, because it helped me avoid thinking about so much stress and sadness. But since I left the cult and it’s a few years behind me, things have gotten better. I’ve been able to interact with the part of my brain that wants to drink like it’s a person who’s trying to protect me. I’ve been able to reassure that person internally that I appreciate his help, but I don’t need that help right now. I’m not in a cult anymore. I’ve also (instead of trying to push that aspect of my personality down internally) expressed appreciation for it. Treating it like a person and expressing gratitude to it because it was trying to help me even though it was misguided. This is all part of IFS therapy (Internal Family Systems). 3. Finding a partner or a friend to quit drinking with. It helps because it’s something fun that you are doing together to feel better. And when you start feeling better, you realize how much you don’t need it. It’s scary at first. But I haven’t had a hangover. I’ve been losing weight. I remember stuff more clearly. I don’t say and do embarrassing things (as much lol). Also, this book was interesting. I don’t think it’s a complete solution for everyone but I think it is helpful. Allen Carr The Easy Way to Control Alcohol. Listening to that on Audible was great. Also, Self Therapy by Jay Early PHD. 4. Knowing you’re not alone. If you haven’t watched it yet have a look at our episode with Deanna. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYLZc3VsgNZ6a6ssi=dTfgobXCLbkh5ppL It’s a two part and also her channel has many more helpful stories. 5. Knowing that many of us have different reasons for drinking. Some have a genetic predisposition toward addiction greater than others. And others are drinking because of stress or other factors. Finding out why you are is important because then you can deal with it. And that takes us back to therapy. 6. If you’re anything like me, the idea of quitting was scary. But now that I’ve stopped I realize it’s not at all. It’s so much easier than drinking. 7. Exercise. Working out particularly cardio has helped me feel so much happier. And as a result, I have relied less on substances like alcohol. Anyway, this is just off the top of my head and obviously I’m no therapist. But I will do a video on my experience and I hope it is of use to you. Much love and support. Jason

Hi, thank you so much for watching! I think for many JW's, (including myself up to the point I woke up from the whole thing) is that if you were born to JW parents & grew up inside the org, that is "normal" to you... you don't have any other experiences to compare it with to help you gain perspective. The high level of control is literally all you know. But I do agree with you, from the outside looking in, it makes absolutely ZERO sense. 😂 -Falon

I loved listening to your stories of escaping the Org. I too had an experience with Jesus Christ which catapulted me out of the Org faster than you can say ‘religious cult’ - that was 36 years ago now. I was in for 15 years. Briefly - I was praying one night while still a Witness and I suddenly KNEW deep down in my Spirit that Jesus was far more important than I had been led to believe. They teach that he’s the Archangel Michael of course. I disassociated within 2 weeks and was so happy that I’d found what I’d been searching for all my life. My family were never in the cult; I joined after I got married in 1974 - left in 1988. I lost all my friends of course, but I’d found the REAL Jesus. Oh that many more faithful followers of the Org would have a similar experience 🙏🏻

The reason a mother who gave birth to a girl was "unclean" for twice as long was due to ritual impurity. Mother and daughter often experience vaginal bleeding during birth. So while in the case of a male child only the mother's discharge caused ritual impurity, if child was female the ritual impurity (and the time it took to dissipate) was doubled. Morality or societal worth never factored into it.

Here's a thought for you to chew on Justin. Atheists laugh at unicorns being in the bible.....right?......and will discard it right away. Christians twist themselves into a pretzel trying to say it means a rhinoceros.....not a unicorn. Here's a novel thought......what if they are BOTH WRONG?.....what if there is a THIRD WAY OF UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT MEANS? Job 39:9 KJV says "will the unicorn abide by thy crib?" First off.......what a weird question.....a unicorn being beside a crib? HOWEVER......look at the context of that verse......God is questioning Job about......THE STARS/CONSTELLATIONS! So is there a unicorn in the skies above? YES!.......the constellation.....MONOCEROS!........UNICORN! And it just happens to be in close proximity to a star cluster called PRAESEPE.......also known as ...........drum roll........THE CRIB! VOILA!........A UNICORN NEXT TO A CRIB!

I love your videos because you talk about the realities of JW's lives and experiences and you and your guests are brutally honest about these experiences. However, I wonder about whether both of you are actually in pursuit of "truth" or not. I wonder if you understand the importance of "intellectual honesty" when adopting new belief systems. Falon is still trapped in the false "bible-based" religious jail cell while Jason is now trapped in the nonsensical " atheist " jail cell. Both of you have been captured and are being held in new cults that replace your former cult but with your own consent. You are still slaves and are not free. Both of you have let yourselves be "conned" into your new belief systems. The bible is a dangerous book because it's the story of a "psychopath god" (jehovah) and all his demonic violent and vengeful behavior. Evolution/big bang theories, on the other hand, are examples of egregious "pseudo-science" which breeds insufferable arrogance and over-confidence in it's adherents.It's a hollow and meaningless cavern of nihilistic darkness and hopelessness. Both of these belief systems are intellectually dishonest and are not true . I do not know whether mankind will ever escape from the quagmire of these false control systems but if we don't, we as a human race will continue to be stunted and not ever see true peace and prosperity.
