Hey, I don’t know if you knew this, but Death battle is coming back too. They recently revealed their kick starter, and they have now got over $600,000 to help fund more episodes with still over half the kick starter to go, and they said that after that once they get sponsors and such, they have no plans of stopping.

Crunchyroll is owned by Sony. Viz is owned by Shogakukan-Shueisha. With the collapse and shuttering of RT, WBD didn't renew the exclusivity deal with CR since they were killing RWBY. Without the renewal, RWBY not generating subs/revenue, and WBD no longer footing the bill, CR delisted RWBY and pulled it from the service. Server space is not cheap. Because WBD was no longer footing the bill for RWBY, CRWBY under Kerry Crosshaw (May he drop dead and never touch RWBY again.) were basically shopping around for an 'angel investor' to pick up the bill. Not just to pay artists but at this point they need to basically rent a studio and equipment since RT's physical location was shut down and things sold off to pay WBD's debt from what is basically a universally failing industry at this point. Enter VIZ Media. They bought the IP wholesale from WBD (yay) for an unknown amount of dollars and it's unclear if they'll bring back any of CRWBY aside from Kerry who is confirmed (spits) but 'they're negotiating'. It's unknown if Sony even bothered to make an offer. RWBY actually isn't mainstream enough like the actual giants in VIZ's actual library for Sony to take notice. One of the reasons RT and Vol 9 failed as hard as it did. Viz only took notice because they worked with RT to create one of the two official manga series for RWBY. In the meantime RWBY has been struck from the internet with no way to watch it aside from hoisting the Jolly Rodger or previous DvD sales. VIZ's first priority there will be to find a 'new place to watch' because VIZ is a licensing service. Not a streaming service. Something they've announced is 'stay tuned!' Given the fact that Kerry is confirmed as being part of the move, I suspect we'll suddenly find ourselves shopping for another investor if the quality continue to decline in 10.

I see YT ate my comment. Short version. Crunchyroll is owned by Sony. Viz is owned by Shogakukan-Shueisha. WBD stopped funding RT and therefore paying for Server storage of RWBY by CR. CR delisted RWBY so there's nowhere to watch it. Sony's interest in RWBY is unknown but likely low to non-existent. VIZ was part of one of two manga series so they have some history. Explains how Kerry got in the door and made part of the project despite the fact he's the LAST person who should be onboard. VIZ Media is a licensing company and CRWBY no longer has an actual studio to animate so VIZ will need to foot the bill for more than just employee pay. If CRWBY can't get their act together I expect them to be cut from the project and VIZ will license it out wholesale to another studio if they even find value in it.
