It's been way too long since I last visited, and I'm missing my home country like crazy! I can't wait to take my little one there someday and show her all the amazing things I experienced when I was a kid and what county has to offer. It's gonna be a blast!

Tuk Tuk's are meant for short distance, as it is more tiring to travel in tuk tuk's than in a vehicle. People normally do road trips on SUV's. Specially, if you are travelling in busy roads, dust and the heat could make you sick and exhausting. It is not meant for trips as it's is open and no safety locks. However, I am glad you were able to enjoy the journey in a tuk tuk. New experiences......

Totally agree with all what you say about full-time travelling. Also family with a kid on small tuk tuk. Add to it the tropical climatic condition. Any moment bright sunny day becomes a torrential rainy day. For holiday seeker always recommends having a car with a driver. That will make them comfortable and enjoyable travelling without getting tired. But for real travelers like your family Has discovered authentic Sri Lanka by driving around tuk tuk covering your entire trip. It looks and sounds amazing. I think you could inform tuktuk rental that you want to handover the tuktuk at a location you prefer. I've seen some tourists do that and a crew member will come and pick your tuktuk at that location. That way you could go directly to the airport by a hiway bus.

people are expecting happiness from travelling , watching beautiful places , beaches and connecting with people. yes, of course these activities bring you sense of "happiness". However, just as the most tastistest food won't taste good forever, no external experience outside will bring lasting happiness. True happiness comes when you stop seeking happiness. As the buddha told when you tell "I want happiness" , erase "I" , erase "want", you will leave with true happiness

Without proper suspension, comfort and A/C, tuk tuk isnt a good vehicle to explore Sri Lanka. I mean you will love them driving and they are unique to many foriegners. But would be good if you can hire a sedan. Becuase you may get exhausted in long run.

Absolutely, for us foreigners that tuktuk is such a fun way to get around. Maybe not as practical, but definitely more of an adventure.

I DONT KNOW if it is climate change..because by now waters in west coast should be calmer..a lot ..but it seems the monsoon is still on...by December January onwards it will be like swimming pool..
