The phrase 3rd world country is completely obsolete since early 2000s according to UN and the World Bank, this pretty much sums up how irrelevant and inaccurate is the information from this video. People need to do their due diligence before moving their entire existence and expectations to another country. I hope you guys get to find your happy place in this world.

Costa Rica is not a Third world country. Basic research shows Its GDP was 134 billion in 2023. Which is relatively high for third world. It’s a developing country. I really wish Americans would stop saying that about any country that doesn’t live up to their standards or deem themselves better than. It’s not the U. S. but its not third world.

Good to know! Costa Rica is changing fast. 3rd world last year, developing this year… and I don’t say that because I’m American. We travel the world, and there are other 3rd world countries that have much better infrastructure than CR.

She said San Jose is awesome.. Not really. And, the food is too. Not really. It has changed, and is not as good for the money. No place is perfect, I guess. Lots better than the USA. You will get "Gringo Priced." (20% increase added to the bill for some reason. :)

If I’m not mistaken the more common name for the pink fish cakes you had in the ramen restaurant is called Kamaboko. Depending on where it is made it can be round with pink swirls or look like a half circle on a wooden board. Naruto is seen eating them sometimes 😅

Totally understand your confusion! When we visited Japan for the first time just a few months back, we felt the same way. Even simple things, like getting a prepaid transport card or buying a snack at a convenience store, came wz a steep learning curve. We ended up adding both Icoca and Suica cards to our Apple Wallets, which worked really well for us. And yes, those menu screens at the restaurants were wild too! Hope your trip is getting better. I love to tokyo myself, but it does come with a very steep learning curve. Usually convenient store our employees are very friendly and you can ask them to help you to do anything, and you can almost be able to do anything, including charging your transit card, taking out cash, getting a new phone service , buying new underwear from a store like 711
