Hudson-Odoi is still extremely important for Chelsea, purely from the number of games we have to play. I would say though that Bayern are also skillful at putting up big numbers as options ahead of loans and never actually paying that number at the end. James Rodriguez, Coutinho, and Periodic were all fantastic, and Bayern had big money options on all, only to not sign any. Hudson-Odoi would likely get the same game time at Chelsea as he would on loan at Bayern, but at least this way he gets more used to the system, and we don't strengthen a European rival.

The problem with the Hudson Odoi situation was not the money it was the fact bayern wanted an option to buy as opposed to an obligation. If they signed him on loan they’d tap him tf up. When the loan ends Bayern would reject the option and now that CHO is unsettled they’ll think they could get him for less

As a Chelsea fan knowing how crafty and shady Bayern are they’d decline the option to buy (like they would if they didn’t want to sign him) but then put the emphasis on CHO to push through a permanent move which puts Chelsea in a bad negotiating position as they have a player that publicly wants to leave to a specific club. This would potentially allow Bayern to at worst get him for the original option but more than likely even less.

After yesterday's performance of Chelsea it shows that they need somebody of VVD'S callibre to be their main CB which will effectively improve their defence but will also bring out the best in Reece James both offensively and defensively. He could be England's starting right back. If Lampard can sign Declan Rice and mould him into a world class CB then Chelsea have a good defense for the next ten years. They could also sign upamecano and make him the main CB with Rice partnering Kante in the midfield pivot.
