The Great Salon Restoration: Wallpaper Is Up!

Can you imagine how many skills you both have mastered since you've been living at the chateau? It's an absolute pleasure seeing it all become so beautiful, the colours, the detailed work, the wallpaper! You've both become the real chatelaines!! I've said it before on another project, I'll say it to you both too.. .the French government should give some sort of "reward" to people that have restored all these previous ruins, as these beautiful chateaus make the French countryside look more appealing and this "era" of restoring chateaus benefited the economy and a boost in tourism! So, a cut in taxes or water and electricity costs would certainly be some sort of "barter", would gesture even more of property buying and restoration!! All of these ruins were abandoned for decades, left to rot and fall down, surely some subvention should be considered!! Just my opinion!

There is an organization in France called La Fondation du patrimoine. They raise money to restore buildings in France. There are thousands of places in France. I doubt the French government could afford to give that many tax breaks.

There’s a reason that wallpaper hanging & painting / plastering is a trade! You are brave to tackle hanging wallpaper that requires being pasted, and climb a ladder to wallpaper such high walls. Lovely pattern! And congrats on a great job!👍👍

Congratulations on doing so well with your first wallpapering. It looks fantastic. My recommendation would be to recheck the wallpaper each day for a few days after putting it up, just to make sure it doesn't shift or develop little bubbles. A good wallpaper roller will mash these back down and ensure that the wallpaper catches all of the adhesive underneath.

Its gorgeous! I love it! I would hang wallpaper all day as opposed to painting. It’s so forgiving, slides around for perfect positioning and packs a punch for just a little time & effort. Good job!!

I decided to check out the Sandberg wallpaper company - that was a delightful rabbit-hole. I've really liked your paper choice from the "get-go": modern, but not too modern, and not clashing with the traditional elements. I suspect the ease of installation has something to do with the quality of the paper, combined with your obviously meticulous approach.

Just a FYI, when hanging wallpaper over fresh plaster, it is best to use a thinned primer paint on the plaster before papering. The room is going to be beautiful. I do like a bit of whimsy in artworks.

Love the sea scape painting, the clouds, the pencil drawings for this room. Very soothing room; I can't see the skeleton, bugs or the humorous prints. Although I like them! I think your idea of a gallery wall in the hallway would be awesome. (just my opinion, of course.) P.S. love the wallpaper!

The wallpaper looks good. The holes in the top of the marble top table is for a three sided back piece that "once upon a time" ftted onto it. Used, I believe as a "washstand" in a bedroom"..of course, that's ot a rule..lol..use it wherever...love it !
