Do youths see eye-to-eye with their parents about their jobs? We had parent-child pairs open up about what a purposeful job means to them, and why they have such differing views.
Thank you to NVPC Company of Good for sponsoring this video. If you’re looking for purpose at work, or want to help your organisation become more purpose-driven, visit bit.ly/companyofgood.

The real tragedy is why the jobs that are just as important for the welfare of the community are remunerated so miserably.

Depends on your skills and qualifications. There are higher paid social workers.

I loved the honesty and open conversation between the children and father. I think mostly as a parent, you would want to pass your kids the good value in life experiences which are most important

Kudos Great Video. As a Gen X person, sometimes in SG context, many don't really have much choice of what u like to do or what's the latest pay cheque. Many of my generation people decided to "Like" their job instead of "Loving" it. When ages reached 40 & above one tends to hold on to their job till offered retrenchment package (Working Class PMET). Its a changing world & some jobs which offered 20 years ago may be irrelevant 20 years on.

Dear OGS, I really enjoy most, if not all the videos you guys produced. Be it about the hidden hustles, random street interviews etc. I appreciate that you guys delve deeper into issues that are less commonly talked about by the traditional media. Aspiration, diversity and inclusivity ❤️

As asian that live in western world, I can distinctly see the difference between east and western parenting... In the west, parent aren't committed to their kids but are connected to them, while in the east parent are committed to their kids but at the same time very distant..

Just want to say that social workers do have starting pays on par with other jobs. I am a social worker with bachelors degree and my starting pay ($3xxx) was higher than many degree holders in media industry. If you work as a medical social worker, your pay will definitely be quite high. It’s a misconception that social workers are lowly paid.

@@xysg1 I think that 3xxx just starting but as more years passed it might changed depending on the individual due to experience. There might also be bonuses and change in position at the company.

I think it boils down to the amount of work social workers do and whether they are remunerated accordingly. You are right, msw pays higher cause their fundings are different to those from family service centres

This is heartwarming and moving, especially seeing the interaction between two generations who have different ideals and aspirations. Thank you for giving these sensitive topics a public channel and being a boundary pusher in a conservative society.

See Singapore keeps allowing new citizens from certain countries thinking they integrate better. This girl and her family is proof otherwise, it’s about attitude not where you are from. I can tell you most people from ccp China don’t have the right attitude
