Besides being a completely awesome song that I can't stop listening to, does anyone realize what an insanely great job the drummer is doing. The guy has a small kit and most of the fills are being done on the snare. Plus the rhythm is not even a steady beat. It's like the main rhythm is a string of small fills. Really terrific job. I'm not sure who this guy is, but I'm sure he's underrated.

It’s a bit different, but it might be more of a switch-up than a punch-up, if you know what I mean. A similar, probably more common trick that works to punch up a song is to drop the prechorus from the final chorus. (The only example I can think of right now is “Oh” by Sleater Kinney.) Another good one with some switches is Flyer by Skating Polly.

Quote from Raine Maida about the song Superman's Dead: "It's just about how hard it is for kids to grow up today. They're inundated with the media and images and cliques they try to have to fit into. Two images that are really strong for me lyrically are ordinary's just not good enough today,' and when I think of kids today, I would never think of a group of eight year olds going out to a baseball park and throwing the ball around. It doesn't happen any more. I have a nine year old brother; he's either inside playing Nintendo or staying up late on a school night watching Beavis & Butt-Head. And you juxtapose that against the old Superman, on the black and white series. He was a real hero, good values, strong willed, a gentleman, but I think Beavis & Butt-Head wins today." I worked as a manager at Blockbuster right beside Scooch's and the GM would get change from us on the weekends. For those born this century, we used to have to leave the house for movies. Anyways, I couldn't make it over to the show so the night went as expected. I am finishing up later, counting money and there was a knock.
