I make mine with just magnesium oil, a little tapioca flour to thicken slightly in a pot on stove then when cool add essential oil. I put it in a glass roll on bottle. My witch hazel does contain alcohol.

Yes blue is great too! Clear glass can lose potency if left in direct sunlight.

I used just witch hazel and essential oils in a plastic spray bottle. The witch hazel has a noticeable alcohol smell I'm hoping the plastic bottle is OK or should I change to glass spray bottle?

Yes you can! Polysorbate 20 is perfect for this! BTW 20 is for oils and mostly water/ liquid and 80 is for thicker substances like thick body wash or body butters. It's so safe is often found in foods.

I just noticed you said you shouldn't use hazelnut, witch hazel is not hazelnut it is Hamamelis virginiana which is a shrub. Witch hazel is really great for your skin, it's a good toner. Most of the ones sold in stores have around 14% alcohol so if you decide to get some make sure to look in the ingredients and make sure it just says Hamamelis virginiana only. It's often called Witch Hazel Distillate.

EDIT: I've been educated better, it's explained in the comments :) OLD COMMENT: Witch hazel is water based, magnesium oil and essential oils are oil based. I'm concerened because first, it won't emulsify and second, products containing water need a preservative. From my experience of making cosmetics, this is not a stable product.. But you do you. That's just my comment and people must make up their own minds.

Magnesium is actually water based technically. And you can just shake the bottle before use if you don't want to use an emulsifier like Polysorbate 20
