I have long hair that goes to the back of my knees. I've been using mane n tail shampoo and conditioner for the past 10 years and only washed once a week. I just used this recipe with just water and tea tree oil and rosemary oil. I have been experiencing hair loss really bad after having my 4th baby and thought it was just postpartum hair loss. Then I considered maybe it was my shampoo. I just tried your shampoo for the first time and I can say the results are already ASTONISHING!! AMAZING!! My hair is still damp and I didn't use conditioner this time. My hair is drying so much faster!! And I can pull my hair apart easily without tangles !!! Like what??!?! I deal with SOOO many tangles since my hair Is to my knees and I was concerned I'd have more without conditioner. This is amazing my hair hasn't felt like this in years!
@ERICA850 Жыл бұрын
My hair is mostly dry now and I can easily glide a small tooth come through it. I can actually style my hair now since my hair is less tangled. I was just telling my husband the other day I wish I could do more with my hair. Now I can. I'm crying tears of joy, seriously!! 😭

Thanks for the video. I have a question for you. I am currently growing my hair out from coloured to grey/white. Would making a base shampoo like this be suitable? My hair is quite dry and a bit frizzy and the grey/white can be a bit dull. I have been using purple shampoo on it once a week and I think it is making it break... I only wash it once a week, as it doesn't need any more. Thanks.

I honestly don't mean to be offensive to anyone that only washes their hair a couple times a week but I've noticed that all of the people I've seen online that have gone a long time with infrequent washings have oily, greasy looking hair. The girl's hair in the video is similar to my own and I apologize again but her hair looks oily. I've so far found that using castile soap and water "shampoo" with a vinegar rinse afterwards looks great for a couple hours but then starts looking greasy after about 6 hrs. With regular shampoo for oily hair (the type with all the harmful chemicals), I can barely get away with washing every other day, but it last MUCH longer without getting oily. Is there a natural additive to strip more of the oils out?

I don't know. I followed this and conditioner recipe to the letter. I spent hours on them to make absolutely sure I followed your instructions to the letter. I did not substitute any ingredients. I used a foaming pump for the shampoo. After about three pumps it got clogged. I kept rinsing it out with hot water and the same thing kept happening. When I did manage to get some shampoo on my hair, it seemed to work nicely. Also your measuring implements look off. That spoon like looks like a heck of a lot larger than a quarter of a teaspoon and the cup looks more like half than one quarter...?

Few years ago I was trying this method (shampoo from castile soap) for a few months and my hair never got used to it. Its ph is too high for my hair and without using an acidic rinse it was breaking my hair a lot. Two years ago I started making ph balanced shampoo with gentle surfactants like SLSA, SCI and SCG (+other ingredients) and my hair became shiny and strong, no need for acidic rinse or conditioner. Have you tried this method?
@lydiajoystuart40824 жыл бұрын
A while ago I tried castile soap as a shampoo and it just didn't work for me for the same reasons you listed. Long story short after learning a lot I discovered that a shampoo bar with gentle surfactants would be best for my hair. And I'm go glad I made the switch to a more expensive way better shampoo bar.

I came to this video after leaving a comment on the other one. I'm curious if the essential oils are going to float around on top or if they will be solubilized. Do you need to shake this up before use? I've been reading up on Capryly/Capryl Glucoside which is a plant-derived, natural surfactant and solubilizer that can be used at 10-20% to solubilize essential oils in water. What are your thoughts on that?
