I loved this episode!! It had all the things. A beautiful faux finish, old windows, architectural history lessons, salvage, misinformed weather vane enthusiasts and one big awesome kitty cat. All of my favorites!! Everything is looking very marvelous. Thank you for the video, as always 😁

We need more Laine and Kevins in the world, chipper and ready to save and enrich. I am continually floored the amount of knowledge they have in architecture. Things I would never think of. Like finding and subsequently restoring the original “stone” façade of the home. It’s so beautiful. Ending is NOT better than mending.

As always, enjoyable update. Learned some things. I have a "dependency" on 1880's house I am restoring maybe similar to the one you described. Believe it might have been very early cabin. Awaiting findings from a dendrochronology test. I was wondering if you could do a test on your old wall. Also wondered if you had pictures of the demolished enslaved persons abode? Very interested in these structures. Thanks

Oh, definitely, spare us from 'experts' online. So am I really weird that I get excited over precision ornamental wood details being assembled flawlessly? (My paternal grandfather was a cabinet maker who had been apprenticed at age 17 in England.). People say our cats are like dogs, but I wouldn't know...we only adopt cats that like us. They always want to know who is at the door, and what we are doing, lol. Oh, but the golden nugget in this episode!!! That book of writings from Hope Farm's original owner!! How amazing to have such a thing. How could you tear yourself away? It's tempting to apply modern viewpoints to historic persons, so reading their own words can be such a surprise. I concur with your logic, and have doubts that his wife, though indigenous, would have wanted to live in a home that was less 'modern' than that of their workers. What a fascinating piece of history that you might have missed if the walls were not open from the current fire damage. The new faux marble job is amazing, and you've found such great artists (I'm including your carpentry folk here as well). You and your crew have made such excellent progress! Congratulations, and great job networking to save wood from old buildings, and those great sconces. Cheers, you two!

No, no no - 1723 vs 1775 is a VERY BIG deal! I like your argument as well. Pursue that info I say! Huge changes happened in the 1690 to 1770's era, I'd gnaw on that bone til I found some reason not to. ps, Love the faux marble painting. Will you put in a some kind of framed psa or something where the dependency remains are added into your repairs? tho seriously not sure how you are going to get all the history on that building annotated and available for educational consumption, its totally worth its own publication. Thank you so much for the update! ZenHugs
