Can we stop for a moment and let it sink in...that the floorboards you were standing on in the 1810 portion of Hope Farm were laid down while Napoleon was terrorizing Europe? Living in a piece of history is a special gift, and you make us proud returning it to it's original condition as accurately as possible. Plumbing and electrical are huge steps forward. So sorry about the basement flood. Ugh. But some artistically-inclined angel was watching over those incredible Chateau doors. Talk about treasures! You are fortunate to have found such great tradesmen to support you on your journey. Unfortunately, the best people are often booked up for ages exactly because they are excellent. Enjoyed 'meeting' them. Also, it's exciting to see the real community you have formed from us crazy old house people. :)

Congratulations on so much progress! You have made huge strides from where you started. Getting the structure and systems in is always big money and not the fun part. I can’t wait to see what you do with the finishes. It’s so much fun to watch your channel because you respect the time period of the homes you work on and don’t try to make them into something modern. Your taste is timeless.

If you are feeding stray kitties that's wonderful, bless you and they are now yours.. please, please, please make sure they are either spayed and or neutered to stop any further suffering. I am sure you don't want 3 turning into 3 dozen. They'll probably help to keep other unwanted pests away. The house is really coming along. I think the last time I tuned in was right before the roof was put on.

I am so excited about this project. I was pulled away from your channel by other interests for a while and came back onboard when you were redoing the cottage. It took me a while to grasp that you intended to restore the burned-down building up the hill (!). It says so much about your deep commitment to historic preservation. I am so impressed- And I’ve been impressed by the two of you many times. This project is a jaw-dropper. You are the real deal; tough like hickory, but solid gold. Much RESPECT to you both.

🔹I love how you ended this video with your thoughts about the Phoenix Rising from the Ashes. I was thinking about this throughout the entire video. Visually it's so evident now how the destruction from the fire is slowly disappearing and the area looks like a construction zone with incredible progress. And everyone needs a Toby with an estate this large. Congratulations.🔹

Many people find the word or finish one another’s sentences! One of my interests is language so have an extensive vocabulary which I put to use. I love how Laine “pops in” with just the word or phrase and Kevin is happy to have her do so. Since Mama has died perhaps a visit to Natchez is in order to see with my own eyes all that has been accomplished. I am “a sucker for an old house!” I happily took care of her for 11 years since she was 88, so a bit of frivolity for myself is in order. I’m eagerly anticipating “Hope’s Rebirth” !

Each event will be priced a la carte, so you can choose your own adventure! The ticket to be able to get in to ALL of the homes open for tour will be $100. There will be about 15-18 homes open. Then each evening event we have will be priced individually, and will be between 25-75 each. All will include food! We so hope you can make it!!

I was just wishing for a tour and some how-to's on the restoration! Thank you for sharing! The side rails from that bed looked like they had knobs, not the rope holes I have been led to expect for a bed of that age. Do you happen to know how the mattress was supported? Also, was that pure vinegar you were using to clean the mildew on the doors?
@OurRestorationNation2 ай бұрын
The knobs are to tie ropes to! It’s a true rope bed! And yes, that was straight 30% acidic vinegar. We had some massive mold to kill
@oxwoman82 ай бұрын
I so love this project! Clarification, please. I may have misunderstood but during your tour, you said you would have jib doors to the exterior. I've always thought that jib doors were interior doors that were camouflaged as wall, boiserie, etc. What did I miss? Can't wait for the next episode! Cheers from North Carolina
@OurRestorationNation2 ай бұрын
A “Jib Window” is generally defined as “a double-hung sash window unit over a pair of hinged panels, at times referred to as jib doors.” These lower panels open beneath the sashes to “create a floor-length opening when . . . the bottom sash of the double-hung window unit is raised even with the top sash and the two panel doors are swung open into the dwelling against the interior wall.”
