Thank you for this excellent. My late aunt and uncle lived in Houston near Sims bayou. First time owners of their newly built house. My aunt looked out the window and saw a lg log in the back yard. My uncle wet to see what was up. He ran back in the house telling Aunt Alice "thats not a log...thats a Alligator!!" The yard was unfenced then, soon after a fence was put up. This was in '57.

Kevin and Laine, I don't know where you find the time or the energy to do all you do! You are truly an inspiration. Your home restoration projects are all so well done and the final results quite beautiful! Further to the alligator in the Mississippi, I don't know if anyone ordinarily swims in the river, but at least two bull sharks, known man eaters and native to the Gulf of Mexico, have been found there. Though I've read verified stories, conflicting as to which one was caught/seen in which part, the first one was in 1937 as far north as Illinois; and, another, in St. Louis, Missouri in 1995, and are among hundreds of sightings reported!

Hi Laine and Kevin! I hope all has been well with you both and your 8 dogs and 1 new cat, all of whom are so precious. As for that "cottage," I could smell the deplorable odor inside it through the video! I'm sure that odor could make a dish run away with a spoon, and a cow jump over the moon! Someone actually was living in that mess? Wow! That place looks like it was a hideout for zombies on the Walking Dead. But, I digress.......It is obvious this was "supposed" to be a serious video. However, it is clear there was an immediate change of plans at the last moment, which has resulted in this video being hilarious! 🤣🤣 I love it! I know that when you two get through with that cottage, it is going to be a showplace of the exquisite kind. I have a suggestion: Once the main house is fully restored and y'all move into it, let the "cottage" become your onsite office space so that you will be able to completely separate the home from your spectacular business endeavors. Hope Farm and all of its buildings are going to be and look spectacular when y'all finish everything that has to be done there. I enjoyed this video. What was up with that Wizard of Oz type "forest" y'all have on that property? Til the next time. GOD bless!

I hope you see this Lainey n Kevin! For the creepy home, could you make it ADA? A grandparent “pod” that allows anyone to live there? I have been modifying our 1998 home and there is still simple things we need to do. Stone Cottage Adventures, Laurie’s son was in an accident and became wheelchair bound. She moved to an OLD house and modified the house and yard. Great ideas in her 99 life changing ideas! I gave her one idea she added with pull out drawers for the kitchen. I have videos too. I have a few ideas including a poncho that is lined with huge pockets. A friend’s phone was stolen in a hospital (the person went shopping) and no it was not taken to the wash in the hospital sheets. It was Tracked.

Just finished watching a KZbin show on space saving furniture and thought of y'all and this little house. One of the items shown was a Murphy bed with storage on either side. Made me think of the bedroom in Pearl where you built in storage on the outside wall with a window between. My thought was you could do the same on a wall and put a Murphy bed between the units. I think there was a couch in between the units that the bed came down and rested on. That particular company was Flat Studio in Moldova. Another company had a revolving bed. It was a bed on one side and a bookcase on the other. Just thinking...

I brought a manufactured home this year. The owner of the mobile home park told me nobody wanted the house because it needed work. The house was FILTHY and had a HORRIBLE odor coming from the stained rugs. Outside the plants and weeds grew knee high!! Plus there was water stains from damage from before. I went ahead and purchased the home. Since buying the house, I have worked on the house every Sunday. Now I heard there's someone who wants to buy my home after I did all the work.

Whew! When I read the title on the thumbnail I thought you'd bought ANOTHER falling down cottage. You did mention moving into the "L" at Hope Farm when it was done. The cottage rehab makes total sense to me. After 12 to 14 hour days working on a house, not having to drive anywhere, and being able to stumble to your cottage, grab something from the fridge, shower and fall into bed will save you so much time and energy. Every time someone tells me they gave their new pet a long complicated name, I laugh. Not going to be Mr. Reginald Quintessence FluffyPants Esquire for long! Your floofs are adorable. Really cool to have your own woods to wander, but glad you are being safe. Our main natural danger to pets are coyotes. Even in established residential neighborhoods they've been known to go through dog doors, into the house, and grab a small dog or cat. Maybe some day people will invent a house with walls that automatically expand to accommodate every new piece of furniture you want to buy. Back in the 90s, when we lived in a 925 sq foot house with tiny closets, I'd sigh over the huge French armoires I used to see at the antique mall. Burlwood inlay, fancy carved tops with brass details. Gorgeous. They were 'only' $2,995, but wouldn't even clear the ceiling. :(

I am so glad you are back 'broadcasting' after that very unfortunate video you had to put out because of that uneducated and selfish person who was going to purchase 'Pearl'. Even with the trouble and malignment they caused, I am glad they did not buy it. They did not deserve it, or the work you put into it. a person who truly understands the home and the work to preserve it will get it! With this cottage project, you are really showing yourself as troopers. If you can pull this one off, you are Olympians! Good luck, I'll definitiely be watching.

What happened to a few of your projects? I. don't see the final on the lawyer's/judge's house with a cute house you were going to live in next door, and are you still keepers of the grand house ???? If I could, I would buy Pearl is a hot minute. You guys are GREAT!

My own fault for not keeping up on what is going on. I do blame Utube some for not notifying me when a new video comes up. I am a subscriber but as I scroll through my videos I don’t see you as much as I used to until this morning. Anyway love what your doing with the cottage. It’s gonna look so good n perfect for Hope. I was surprised when you mentioned when Hope is finished that you’ll be living in it. Wow, I think that’s wonderful. But also realize when cottage is done you’ll be living there. Curious will you be selling your house where you live now (when your there)? Really enjoyed this video n got pretty much up dated as to what’s going on. Going to scroll back n try to find others I’ve missed. ( oh, let me say how much I think of you both at taking in 8 dogs n 1 cat. I truly admire you both for giving so much of your love to these fur babies. I wish I could do that as I love animals dogs mostly but my health isn’t the best n it’s not fair if I can’t walk them . Have no fence in yard n they definitely need to be walked. God bless you both n all your fur babies . ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟

Can't wait to see the transformation on the cottage. At the walk-thru, I was spotting some interesting furniture to salvage, too, like the iron bed and a few Victorian style shelves. Even that hideous red shelving unit looks to be an old bookcase. What wood is underneath? Walnut? With that size, an open 'efficiency' style would work perfectly. Maybe just a decorative screen to separate? I see it very light and airy inside, with white-washed walls. Did you find any evidence of past formal gardens in the jungle? With the clearing out, long dormant bulbs may surface next spring.
