Great insights! Positive focus. As a critical thinker, might I (carefully) add that you can also learn a lot from bad examples. What not to do? Especially if you find yourself as a misfit. And if you already live in LCOL area, bad examples are abundant? For a period, my positive support came from people like you two who lived thousands of miles away through the miracle of the Internet.

How do you going about finding people to fill these rolls? I end up with people who say stuff like, “Must be nice,” “Did you win the lottery or something,” “I’m jealous,” rather than people who are encouraging or supportive in the journey towards FIRE. I just don’t even know where to begin or how to approach someone.
@heartfullydone3 жыл бұрын
I think I'm several of these things for other people (probably due to my profession as a KonMari Coach), but especially the mentor part is a bit tricky. I think you are mentors to me. And also some other people that already reached FIRE, and teach. The awesome thing is that I'm so on fire for FIRE that I automatically preach + teach it to people that are interested. Above all family members, and friends.

Critical thinker definitely sounds like an INTP type according to MBTI. I wonder what your types are, at least you demonstrate the openness to listen to other people, which is a problem for quite a few people who will never fire. As an INTP myself, one of my students, who picked me as a mentor, once thanked me with the words 'You don't give kind words or empathy, I can get that everywhere. But you give solutions.' Needles to say that made my day.
