Rule #7: Only help those that want help! Amen to that one! Many people say they want help, and then when I coach them through their decluttering and organizing journey, I see that they might like the idea of reaching a tidy home but aren't willing to put in the money, time, and effort. I tweaked my business onboarding process through the years to only have "ready"-people in my discovery calls. My time is precious, and I don't want to waste it with people that aren't serious.

This video is so well timed. My partner and I had a breakthrough this weekend. We both recently turned 29, started feeling that time pressure and I had the best career performance review possible (literally over-achieved in everything only 7 months at a new company - global tier 1). I am feeling so motivated because our dream to live and work in another country could happen. He is literally signing up for a course to broaden his marketable skills right now and I will be looking for a French tutor. Time is so precious! We needed to start asking us what can we *do* today to achieve our dreams tomorrow. 🔥

Love these rules! I have been doing a lot of these already. My two biggest ones are cutting off negativity. I've muted so many newsreel on social media from people who do nothing but whine and complain all the time. Even when I'm off the clock from my 9-5 I'm not off the clock. I'm constantly planning my next move to F.I.R.E. I read a quote years ago that I'm chosing to live by. "Train until your idols become your rivals" not going to let anyone stop me. Even when setbacks happen. Plan the next tactical move to get around it and what we're going to do about it.

Allocate your near-term expenses needs (3 months - 1 year in your cash bucket). And stop watching the market. I'm down $150K in a month. However, I don't need it. All of our needs have been pre-allocated. Hopefully, in a year when I come back to the well for more cash, we will be in a better place than today. Study language for your new home country instead of obssessing over your portfolio. Stay the course; "time in the market..." yadda yadda.

Those are very important rules. I wish i could be more positive about financial stability, not even saying independance, but trying to save money for a house when 99% of the salary goes to bills and rent, makes it really difficult. This is not an excuse, is a fact. At least in Portugal. However, we keep trying, but he prices aren't made for us.

I would have left as well 5-6 years ago but my teen daughter wanted to finish school here. She’s off to college in August! Woohoo! 😁 I hate what has happened to our country the past years and it’s becoming urgent for my mental health to get out before it gets worse…and it will. Looking to invest in Portugal to get the golden visa but I think some rules have changed. I’m also in the process to possibly get citizenship in Spain through my grandfather who was born there. I am financially able to make the move and I’m going to go back to Portugal this summer to look for a home in case the Spanish citizenship becomes impossible or takes too long. You guys are my gurus, lol 😂

Good evening , i live in south of France , as a single man without family , i'm minimalist in order to be on retirement as soon as possible , i like watching those kind of vidéos and sharing my experience : in december 2022 , i will be 40 years old , and have closed the reimbursement of my apartment purchased in january 2014 , thanks to my savings on transport-food-accomodation , 12 years money back earn and back to the future in the same residence where i lived child Next year , i will invest in real estates to get more money and protect from inflation which is increasing with 4% in my country , congratulations for your story and i wish you the best for your future 👍

All very helpful information and reminders. We are in the dreaded transition phase of our pre-FIRE journey: storage and sorting. We are trying to optimize the storage of family heirlooms and the things we will still need in the US portion of our lives, while trying to get it all efficiently packed away so we can explore Portugal and Europe to find our first base. I need a ton of motivation to do the hard work, t this moment. I want the end result, to be free and traveling. But I really don't want to work hard for two months. 😕

Absolutely incredible, I have learned some of these rules in life from mistakes and will adopt the others, only yesterday I was discussing the " time is precious" rule with my girlfriend and had her listen to "the richest man in Babylon", before that ..I had her read "rich dad poor dad," I will look closer to make sure she wants to "help herself," because I have struggled with this in my past serious relationship and dedicated way too much of my own time . . humhh 👀🤔 my Channel is a slow travel Channel, and in January, I stared a how too Channel, your Channel has been a inspiration for F.I.R.E for me personally for the last 2yrs..thanks again 😀 😊
