My husband fixes appliances and they definitely don’t make them like they used too. My mom has my grandmothers old washer /dryer set and still works great....probably 40yrs old or more.

How frustrating to have a new freezer break that fast. I remember the year after my first child was born my in laws bought me a freezer for Christmas. I was so disappointed. Couldn't imagine what they thought I was going to do with it. But now....37 years later I'm so grateful for it. Her freezer that her in laws bought for her lasted 40 years! It was great when my kids were growing up and now during that pandemic has come in extra handy! I hope yours gets fixed and gives you years of service.

Sarah, I too am a 'Pluviophile' That is a person who loves the sound of rain, or feels joy & peace on rainy days. I always have been. I live in outback Australia, and the rain has an awesome affect on everyone around here. As it isnt often and it means so much for the farmers. Going the the local pub (Bar) after good rain, is the best as everyones spirit is lifted and the laughter and relief feeling is amazing to see on others. ❤❤❤

Instead of making meals, you could also cook the meats. Package them in the portion sizes you'll need and place in the other freezers. When you need the meat, already cooked and/or seasoned helps a lot!

the company that sold you freezer or warranty should cover all that meat that was unthawed. take pictures and give them a receipt of all that beef. I worked at Lowes and they would give $ for that exact reason or the warranty company of the freezer should cover it.
@Karmacalifornia67
@Karmacalifornia67 4 жыл бұрын
Maroxa Livesfree Lowes always gave a food allowance if it unthawed especially as much meat she had in that freezer. But she shouldn't be inconvenienced to have to try and cook everything. Some food doesn't do well if unthawed then cooked then refrozen unless you have one of those big freezer that freeze quickly so bacteria doesn't have time to get into the meat.

@curlybibliophagist2
@curlybibliophagist2 4 жыл бұрын
@Maroxa Livesfree I don't think so. While she may be able to salvage some stuff, she still has lost value. What she planned as food for 6 months or whatever now needs to be used immediately and it is lesser quality because it lost temperature. She gave away roasts too. A food spoilage warranty comes when you buy an extended warranty and usually maxes out at $300, which is nothing compared to the cost of your food in your freezer.

Just wanted to share an incredibile recipie for a pasta sauce with you, it’s soooo good and very easy to make. You need equal parts of finely grated carrots ( the one part that is a bit annoying is the grating😄) and leek cut into fine rings. Let the leeks get transparent in a frying pan and then add the grated carrots and fry until softened. Season with soy sauce to taste, to get that saltiness and add cream. Let it all simmer for 15-20 minutes and just before taking the pan off the heat, add grated Parmesan cheese and stir. You won’t believe how tasty it is!

I just found a wireless alarm for the freezers - the alarm part is on magnets and you can put it on your fridge and see the temp of your freezers at all times and it will alarm once the temperature rises to a point determined by you. Totally worth the 20 bucks on Amazon and my piece of mind with a cow, pig, and a bunch of chickens in ours!

There is a beef recipe that we love - it is a Middle Eastern dish called- Yukney- Use roast. I sue cast iron pot- you bring it to a boil reduce temp. Cook it on top stove till it falls apart. (I have made this in a crock pot too but not if it is frozen. ) when it is cooked to falling apart stage- way I do it is add chunky Veg. spaghetti sauce and 2 cans of green beans. Serve this over rice. Some just use diced tomatoes 2 reg size cans instead of the spaghetti sauce. I am not a stewed tomato fan.

Oh Sarah! Precious Hope is so much like our Sarah. She can hear thunder from miles away and they make her so anxious! You are doing a great thing in modeling how you love the storms. We often use the term......"Silly Thunder, making all that racket! Quiet down you silly thunder."

Just a suggestion...have you ever thought of getting a vacuum sealer to freeze your meats.....it stops the dripping and also freezer burn....so easy to use too... I am not sure how much they would cost there, because I live in Ireland........so its so easy for me to buy large packs of meats and seal them into one portion meals as I live alone.....you can also use it to freeze meal prep meals...and anything else you freeze for long term storage....Love your channel.....Kindest regards ~Susan~

I had not thought about it! It comes packaged and frozen so it would take a lot of work in the beginning. ☺️

You wouldn't have to unwrap it, just vacuum seal it wrapped. I'm English lol, we have a large wholesale butcher who does it to offer extra shelf life on the fresh meat xx

We also have a vacuum sealer. Got it after our deep freeze “bit the dust” and it was FULL!! We cooked meat for hours! We bought the vacuum sealer and saved a lot. Called some close friends told them what happened and gave them roasts etc. I agree with Susan O’Connor please get one you won’t be sorry. Also you can buy them at Costco, and they run the bags on sale.😉❤️

Good thing you were able to save the meat. I'm going on a long trip and one of the things I'm worried about is our meat in our freezer. I'm having someone come over and check on the house when we are gone. I'm going to ask him to check on the freezer to make sure it is still working!

You are correct. Freezers can’t be found right now. Our freezer did this a few weeks ago. We made a huge pot of soup and cooked everything we could. My husband is pretty handy and took the back off the freezer and a lizard had gotten into the fan on the back and that had stopped it from working. He got the dead lizard out of there. We cleaned it all out good after salvaging what we could. Plugged it back up and it is working good now. We bought some freezer sensors with a remote so we can keep a check on the temp. Praying it keeps on working until we can finally find a new one. This one is at least 25 years old. We keep it in our garage...so that’s how the lizard got in there.

First of all I love watching your channel you all seem so sweet and down to earth! My kinda people! 😁 We have the exact same freezer and had the same problem as you with half a cow and pig in our freezer thawing out. Turns out the fan wasn't working but was covered under warranty.

Aw man! I'm so sorry that happened to your freezer! That's definitely upsetting for large families! We have an upright side by side refrigerator & freezer in our kitchen that I know will need to be replaced soon, but there's not many to choose from. And I really like my side by side. It's a Big one lol Glad you got to save some meat.

Should have went and bought Ice to help slow down thawing. Once meat has been frozen and thawed, its best not to refreeze.

I was wondering why they didn’t have some dry ice in there immediately. As well if check the next door app or Angies list for a repair. It’s likely since it’s a newer freezer, it’s an easy fix. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That happened to me one time! Luckily, I was off work for four days. I Brown my ground beef before i freeze it, just a personal preference, then divide it into pound packages, thaw in fridge. My meat was all beef as well. I made steak and gravy, pot roast, chili, beef/vegetable soup, casseroles. Cooked for rhe entire four days. Love you guys and those beautiful babies.
