Thanks very much for this video, which I just discovered. I grew up in Middletown and in the 1960s and 1970s watched the New Haven and then Penn Central hauling unit coal trains through here on their way to the Laurel power plant in Middletown's Maromas section.

So glad you did not make the error many fans do when they refer to a little, or no, used track as abandoned. Most of the time if tracks still in place line has not gone thru the required official regulatory process of abandonment and merely be "out of service" status and like this example can be rehabbed and put back into use. Especially now with the high price of scrap metal if a line has truly been granted abandoned status most of the time the rails will soon come up for the recycle value.

Similar has occurred in Holden, MA, at the Industrial Avenue siding. I decided to check it out while I was in the area. That railroad siding was rebuilt up to the first customer, the Salitsky Alloys building. New wheel stops were added and a modern "back saver" switch stand were installed as well. Appears that the Salitsky structure can accept a second track, both of them able to enter the building, noting its two tall doors. (At first, it was presumed that a wire and cable manufacturer would be needing covered hoppers of resin for insulation purposes.)

@@SouthCoastRailVideos The "rebuild" stopped after Salitsky's. Behind the Aviant facility there is an employee picnic table sitting on the tracks. The switch on the P&W Gardner Branch was still spiked closed.

The l or freight last desperate hope to use a short stub end section of track - car storage. No business apparently, just set cars on it with no movement or freight hauled.

This is for car storage for a new customer who has limited room. There will be freight hauled but when the customer is full excess cars can be put here.
