Nice content . By the way, why relieving pitcher doesn't get picked high during draft? I'm new to the game (and to baseball too to be honest) abd despite always having to choose as one of the last team during round 1, i always get some amazing pitchers

Thank you. I think it just comes down to relative value. Even the best relievers are probably only going to pitch 80-90 innings a year, so in the very early rounds I think many teams would rather gamble on a starting pitcher who might be able to give them twice as many innings, or a potential everyday player who could be out there for 150 games a season. In the case of picking a starting pitcher instead, if he's not quite good enough to eventually be a starter in MLB, some of those guys will end up as pretty effective relievers too. You can also often find solid relievers in the Rule 5 draft or for a couple million dollars in free agency, so I think the demand just isn't there for pure relievers early in the draft. But if it's working for you, that's great. Good luck!

interesting to follow your start in a playthrough. Do you have the AI manage the movement of players up/down between the various minor league teams?

No, I enjoy the GM aspect of the game the most, so I handle all of the promotions across the minor leagues myself. I set up all of the teams at the beginning of the season, and then check in on possible promotions a few times a season, usually early June, around the draft, and then mid-August. I think I tend to probably be a little too conservative in keeping players at a level a bit longer than they may really need.

That's definitely my plan, I'm only going to be playing with the Yankees for a few seasons over the next couple weeks until that happens!

good stuff buddy. i like your idea of doing a mini series for the first couple of weeks until the next couple of patches are released. The game seems pretty clean as far as minimal bugs compared to last year, at least so far. Looking like using trade hard mode may be the way to go for your long term save.

Thanks, I think you are probably right about the game being pretty clean compared to last year, but can't hurt to wait until we've got the first big patch out of the way before starting something more challenging for the long term. Plus, it gives me the opportunity to play with my beloved Yankees in the meantime while I'm learning the ins and outs of all the changes, including trading!

I think there is a version called OOTP GO for mobile devices. I have never played it and am not sure how close it is to the full PC version.

How did you get the contract info of the players the AI is offering to appear when you "shopped player"? Mine doesn't show their contracts so I have no idea if I'd be interested in what the AI is offering when I'm shopping a player from my team.

I have no idea unfortunately, it's just always looked that way for me as far as I can remember. I usually play in Challenge Mode, so maybe it's one of the default settings if you set the game up that way? But I'm not really sure...

I think it's a good addition to the game, but right now mine is just hanging out in the middle of the bar, as I don't think I've discussed enough trades with other teams to really move the needle yet. But definitely will be keeping an eye on it!

When you play with the yankees do you try to go for the big free agents every time?

If I have money in the budget to spend I am going to use it, so I think my answer is yes. I certainly also try to build through the draft, international free agency and trades, but definitely will hit the free agent market also.

@@oldschoolsports i do try to hit It as Well but i have a limit on mostly the length of contracts i give. I think the max i have given on a free agent contract is 5 guaranteed years🤷🏾‍♂️

@@Ivan-1108 Good point, in general I try to keep free agent contracts as sort as possible also. But I've definitely gone longer than five years at times... to the extent I can, I try to get as many team options as possible in those longer contracts, but sometimes it's hard when a player is in high demand.

no wonder Detroit wanted rid of Rogers @ 14.27 , says arbitration estimate $13,500,000!! . They didn't want to take any chances. Must be a bug.

Just looked, and his arb number is now down to $2 million, hopefully just some weird bug in the early stages of the sim and it won't happen again...
