I quite like how this draft went, especially considering what the talent pool initially looked like. Wonder if Tim Day could become like a righty Aroldis Chapman. Feeling pretty good about the team now, especially with Ortega and Mendoza on the way back next month. Also, have we had a rookie of the year winner yet? Seems like Pimentel is making a pretty great case even with his later-in-the-season debut.

Agreed, I think it worked out pretty well when all was said and done. Won't shock me if the fourth or fifth guy we picked ends up the best of the bunch, but at least we have a lot of shots on goal, so to speak. Looks like two Rookies of the Year so far, The Franchise in 2032 and Andy Toribio is 2034. I am still bitter that Saldana didn't win it in 2037 with a league leading 1.95 ERA and WAR of over 5!

Happy Thanksgiving. Think you had a relatively great draft especially with your first 3 picks. Good luck with work.

Thank you! One of those busy time ahead for me!

I think that's about as well as the draft reasonably could've gone. I don't get all this Thanksgiving in November mumbo jumbo given I'm Canadian (October is the superior Thanksgiving time, perfectly placed for kids to get time off of school and doesn't encroach into the Christmas season), but I hope you enjoyed yours nonetheless!
@oldschoolsportsАй бұрын
Ha, thank you. Hope you enjoyed your "early" Thanksgiving in October!

Good job on the draft, agree with pretty much all the picks and going to be interested to see how the offers go for those two looking for well above slot. Nice little run post draft in that week before the ASB. Pimentel is looking terrific and although there's bound to be some drop off the signs are really promising that he's another gen in the making. I'm really hopeful for Richards and look forward to seeing him move up into AAA a to see if he continues to shine 🤞 He could have us settled at catcher for a long time. Baseball Mogul is still going. I have picked that up over several years although like OOTP still don't get around to playing much. I found it before OOTP like you but think OOTP is more in depth and has more behind it in terms of the team working on it. Another poor game for your Jets tonight. I watched it hoping to see you get the W over the Seahawks to keep my 49ers close but wasn't to be. What's your thoughts on whether you take up the option on Rogers for next season?
@oldschoolsportsАй бұрын
Interesting, I did not know Baseball Mogul was still around! I know this probably sounds odd, but I don't have a real strong opinion on Rodgers for next season. His stats are ok (especially compared to most Jets quarterbacks), but he is definitely missing throws he would have never missed in the past and seems afraid to throw downfield. Could be that he is hurt, could be that he is old and done, could be a combination of the above. If the Jets somehow get lucky and hire a GM/Coach combo that is respectable, I'd be fine with them deciding based on their judgment and analysis... if they think Aaron is the best choice as a bridge QB next year I'd be fine with it... if they think he's done and want to move on, I can see how they could come to that conclusion also.
@hammerpghАй бұрын
Mogul is still going strong and does have a loyal following. I’ll have to check the game out again to see how it compares to OOTP. They’ve also got Football Mogul as well. Yes that missed TD throw followed by the interception that went back for a TD was a throw that he never used to miss. I think he’s not had the best of help either though, neither Hall or Wilson have had the kind of seasons that were expected and that line has not been great either when I’ve seen them. Not sure where you go without him though, would have to pick someone else up until you’ve got a future QB on the books. Not sure where he goes either if you don’t pick up the option. Quite possibly Jets or done.
@oldschoolsportsАй бұрын
@@hammerpgh It's definitely a mess... but that is kind of the Jets!
@richkachmarsky6170Ай бұрын
Well that went better than expected. Getting the guys you did up in to the 9th round was great. interested to see if you can sign them all. Team seems in a really good place right now. After the deadline I'm sure there will a major injury. Does that seem jaded? Maybe I have PTSD from previous play throughs
@oldschoolsportsАй бұрын
Ha, I hope you are wrong about the injury, but can't argue with your logic... that definitely has happened in the past! I could see Ortega coming back for a week and then ending up out for the season...
@stanleyrosella7042Ай бұрын
Wow, I played around with Mogul too right around when this Century broke. I played Tony LaRussa Baseball in the 90s I recall. Stats was actually good in that game but nothing like we got in OOTP and had in Mogul. Before those PC version I had another one on Commodore 64, but can't remember what the name was. Mogul still runs out new versions both in baseball and football. But I haven't played it for some 15-20 years so not sure how it stand up to OOTP these days. As you I fear what road OOTP will take in the future. Hm, yet another bad week for your Jets. But think you already given up this season. More excitement who the Yankees will sign for 2025 season I think.

Just waiting to find out about Soto at this point! I'd love to have him back (who wouldn't), but if that contract goes over $600 million, which it almost certainly will, I think there might be better ways to spend that money. It's not inconceivable that the Yankees could sign a Corbin Burnes or Max Fried, Willy Adames, and a bat like Bregman or Alonso for similar money to what they might have to lay out for Soto... if they followed that kind of route I probably can't be too upset. If they let Soto go and don't spend a ton of money elsewhere to try to improve an obviously flawed roster, however, that would be very disappointing!
@stanleyrosella7042Ай бұрын
@@oldschoolsports Are Yankees in on Sasaki ? Looks like a West Coast battle. Once again Dodgers and those poor Padres. Any team playing in San Diego is doomed. Poor folks down there seen first Clippers leave and turning a joke into a top team, then Chargers looking good in LA too.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Sports family. I think this team will rake in the second half, and win the division at a canter, Genus be damned.

Thank you, and I hope you are right!

I think you did well in the draft considering the wishy-washy nature of the pool. We got a good group of interesting if not outstanding prospects, so given our recent draft killings when it comes to pitching, maybe that isn't such a bad thing. The team is looking pretty good despite key injuries; Pimentel is turning into a monster- let's hope it isn't just a rookie flash, my gut tells me otherwise. He will be key to our transition away from Ortega in the near future. Good luck the rest of the way!
@oldschoolsportsАй бұрын
Thank you. There's no way Pimentel keeps doing what he's done so far, but still very optimistic he will be a guy we can build around in the potential post-Ortega era!

I would extend Arreola if he doesn’t know his value yet

I've been regularly checking in with both him and Camunez... unfortunately for me, they both realize they are really good and going to make a ton of money if they stay healthy and meet expectations!
