Really good tips, I do the same with itunes, and also back up everything on an ipod as well. If all computers go down, we still have the most important songs to get through the most important parts of the day! Totally agree with the timeline, really helps to keep the event running smooth !

Good video & advice. The video proves a couple of things. First of all, that there should be a sign at the ed of the dance floor "NO DRINKS on floor". 16:24 is pretty embarrasing. 17:04 not good. People falling from the wet floor. Secondly, it's not the DJ's fault when the bride or groom demand so many bad songs. The DJ's goin' what he's told, trying to make the best of the inevitable train wreck that wasn't his doing.
@DJRickWeb

The dance floor was wet because off dew as it got later.
@jimgrocery3948
@jimgrocery3948 5 жыл бұрын
@@DJRickWeb The facility manager should have pointed a blower on the dance and the dew would have blown off in seconds. The spills are MUCH worse because of the depth of the liquid. That's why it's illegal to hold liquids of any kind on a dance floor in most states where there is a liquor license present. *The dance floor was wet from BOTH drinking and dew* Massive jumping around in the video, not so much dancing - this is because the girls (and the men for that matter) can't find the dance beat. Since many of the songs cannot be led, or followed, the girls drink heavier and heaver to try to get through it. This is very common, we see it all the time. In the video at 17:58 it's particularly bad, she might not have gone to the doctor that night, but for sure she slept in the next day. Like I said before, this is why DJ's deserver a lot more credit & pay for their work. The bride and groom's song choices, drinks on the floor, the event "manager" forgetting to put the drinking sign out and the blower all makes it harder on a DJ.

@@DJRickWeb Too bad they don't have any friends or family that care about them. If they did, they would have been told: no fluids on the dance floor, normal dance-oriented song list, etc. Heck, even tent rental companies supply blowers and signage if only they were asked!

Awesome video until the 12:25 mark... I was like woah.... Just as a heads up if you are running that much stuff I would head to Home Depot and invest in some Husky 100' 12 or 10 Gauge contractor series extensions... They gonna run you about $200 a piece and may seem like a lot... It's really not when you think about that little 16 gauge wire running 15 amps out power.. I have seen cords melt from 15 amps....

As always, awesome video man! I may have to hit you up REAL quick for them EONS if and when you sell them haha I'm right over in Illinois so ROOOOAD TRIPP!! Also, I've been thinking with your killer light shows and chauvetshow xpress being outdated, what's your next move? I've been seeing some REALLY cool stuff with the new SoundSwitch system that I think would be killer in your area of the Mobile DJ world. It would be especially helpful for those gigs that Michael can't or won't be with you on. You and him could bust out some sweet custom lightshows for a lot of the typical wedding songs in our midwest region, and use the auto feature for the rest. Just wanted to see what your thoughts were on that SoundSwitch. I love your videos and your snap, man. We've talked a bit on there when we're both doing gigs and it's always awesome to get your insight! Keep it up, bro!

MAIL TIME question!!! Recently I bought a large tv on a mobile roll-around stand (for my karaoke gigs that a growing filipino community in my area was requesting). I wanted to use this screen also when I DJ'd my normal gigs, so I got a bunch of visualization loops and messed around with GrandVJ. I think I want to incorporate this into my next gig as a free bonus for practice and as a try-out. QUESTION: Have you ever thought about doing video imagery? Whether its just recorded loops or music videos or realtime "screen-savers" that pulse to the beat? How could you advertize this and what would you price it? I'd imagine this would be great with a projector and screen.... (and obviously not ideal for daytime outdoor events)

Understood---to rephrase the question- what is the general guideline for pricing a wedding --I'm a relatively new DJ-- I've done 4 weddings and have most likely under-priced the events. There must be some general formula DJ's use to determine a price- thanks reading this. How would you say the transition is going in Carolina ?

Transition rough in terms of business. For pricing man you got to figure is it worth it. Like if someone was to rent the exact equipment you have how much would it cost. Okay than add hourly rates for DJing setup and teardown.

Hello Rick. I'm a newly subscribed member to your KZbin channel. I have a question regarding your DriveRack2. I purchased mine for the AFS feature and because I thought it would somehow improve sound. Ends up it made my system sound like poo. I guess it's meant to be primarily used for passive speakers as a crossover. My speakers are all powered and don't an external crossover. I tried using my tops on the high output and mid outputs from the DriveRack2, but still sounded like poo. Now I don't use it at all. What are you using it for?

the timeline thing you stressed is cool for wedding's where no wedding coordinator has been hired, but some weddings have wedding coordinators and they tend to think they are the Queen of ALLLLLLL and so therefore coordinating with HER is generally something that needs to be smoothed out between YOU the D.J. and the Bride and groom who are they main focal point of the wedding if the bride and groom and wedding coordinator are all present with your business pre-meeting it's a good thing because then u can iron out all lil quirks where ur booth is gonna be.. time lines, what and when your gonna play your jams when ur gonna make announcements.. who gets too use your spare mike and WHO CANNOT EVER JUMP ON YOUR MIKE! sometimes the wedding coordinator needs to be educated.. because they don't always know what a D.J. is all about and what we bring to the party... {WE ARE THE PARTY} . :) . PRO TIP! from D.J. FIFTYCAL . peace out....

Sup Rick? I have been checking you out on youtube for a while now I am a beginner dj in North Carolina bro. What material did you use for your facade? Also I just purchased a GEMINI G4V with Virtual DJ LE . What are you thoughts on LE or should I go ahead and purchase FULL VIRTUAL DJ 8

Your Equipment is out sied no tent if it starts to raine?

The original layout was dancefloor and me in the tent. Weather forecast that morning was clear all day into the next 0 percent chance of rain. The groom ask if it would be okay to move it outside the tent and I agreed.

FYI You can book halls and promote your own EDM Dance Party shows and play what you want, you do not have to wait for the phone to ring to do another wedding or sweet sixteen party. People are looking for fun things to do when you are doing a private event with your hands tied to someone else's schedule very few people have any fun... Think Big.

That costs money and takes time and planning. My area would require insurance coverage, a fire dept inspection, security, EMS / medical standby, etc. That isn't including the money for advertising / promotion, hall fees, etc. It's a really good idea, but isn't something you can just do haphazardly.

So it's really easy. Press the windows button on keyboard, while holding press the plus sign on you number pad, release. The magnifier will pop up. Click the settings button(looks like a sprocket) within the magnifier window that opens. Then click invert colors. So you can close out of magnifier to put colors back to normal. Then all you have to do to invert is hit the windows and the plus sign. To get screen size back to normal you just zoom out to 100%

Rule for outdoor wedding, make them house you under a tent or shade canopy or bring your own and charge for it never be out in the blazing sun OMG or if it rains gotta protect your investment. But as the sun set the lights really came out

+djaceproductions they actually had a pop up for me. I decided to not set it up since I would tear it down later anyways. And this actually was a plan b. The original plan was to have everything under the tent. Since the weather was perfect we moved it all outside the tent

Hey DJ Rick, I just subscribed. I need help...I'm not a DJ, nor do I know shiit about Pa sytems. I'm having a Labor Day Bash, about 60-70 people and I'm trying to buy a setup for music. My budget is about $1,000. I was thinking 2 powered Mackie thump 12" Loudspeakers and a mackie thump powered 18 inch sub. I want bass you can feel and my question is> Do I actually need a sub or would it be better to go to (2) 15 inch loudspeakers, and do loudspeakers actually produce great lows or is the sub needed? I will be running itunes through my laptop. Also, how good are bluetooth loudspeakers. Do you think I'm going in the wrong direction.. What's your opinion on what I should get. Thanks in advance, any imput would be great

+Emerson Jones no one is eqing them then. Out the box yeah lacks bass. Tune up the bass a little and bang the bass is there. Sound litterally like my 15 inch prx subs at high volumes.
