Good video & advice. The video proves a couple of things. First of all, that there should be a sign at the ed of the dance floor "NO DRINKS on floor". 16:24 is pretty embarrasing. 17:04 not good. People falling from the wet floor. Secondly, it's not the DJ's fault when the bride or groom demand so many bad songs. The DJ's goin' what he's told, trying to make the best of the inevitable train wreck that wasn't his doing.
@DJRickWeb5 жыл бұрын
The dance floor was wet because off dew as it got later.
@jimgrocery39485 жыл бұрын
@@DJRickWeb The facility manager should have pointed a blower on the dance and the dew would have blown off in seconds. The spills are MUCH worse because of the depth of the liquid. That's why it's illegal to hold liquids of any kind on a dance floor in most states where there is a liquor license present. *The dance floor was wet from BOTH drinking and dew* Massive jumping around in the video, not so much dancing - this is because the girls (and the men for that matter) can't find the dance beat. Since many of the songs cannot be led, or followed, the girls drink heavier and heaver to try to get through it. This is very common, we see it all the time. In the video at 17:58 it's particularly bad, she might not have gone to the doctor that night, but for sure she slept in the next day. Like I said before, this is why DJ's deserver a lot more credit & pay for their work. The bride and groom's song choices, drinks on the floor, the event "manager" forgetting to put the drinking sign out and the blower all makes it harder on a DJ.

@@DJRickWeb Too bad they don't have any friends or family that care about them. If they did, they would have been told: no fluids on the dance floor, normal dance-oriented song list, etc. Heck, even tent rental companies supply blowers and signage if only they were asked!

MAIL TIME question!!! Recently I bought a large tv on a mobile roll-around stand (for my karaoke gigs that a growing filipino community in my area was requesting). I wanted to use this screen also when I DJ'd my normal gigs, so I got a bunch of visualization loops and messed around with GrandVJ. I think I want to incorporate this into my next gig as a free bonus for practice and as a try-out. QUESTION: Have you ever thought about doing video imagery? Whether its just recorded loops or music videos or realtime "screen-savers" that pulse to the beat? How could you advertize this and what would you price it? I'd imagine this would be great with a projector and screen.... (and obviously not ideal for daytime outdoor events)

Understood---to rephrase the question- what is the general guideline for pricing a wedding --I'm a relatively new DJ-- I've done 4 weddings and have most likely under-priced the events. There must be some general formula DJ's use to determine a price- thanks reading this. How would you say the transition is going in Carolina ?
@DJRickWeb6 жыл бұрын
Transition rough in terms of business. For pricing man you got to figure is it worth it. Like if someone was to rent the exact equipment you have how much would it cost. Okay than add hourly rates for DJing setup and teardown.

the timeline thing you stressed is cool for wedding's where no wedding coordinator has been hired, but some weddings have wedding coordinators and they tend to think they are the Queen of ALLLLLLL and so therefore coordinating with HER is generally something that needs to be smoothed out between YOU the D.J. and the Bride and groom who are they main focal point of the wedding if the bride and groom and wedding coordinator are all present with your business pre-meeting it's a good thing because then u can iron out all lil quirks where ur booth is gonna be.. time lines, what and when your gonna play your jams when ur gonna make announcements.. who gets too use your spare mike and WHO CANNOT EVER JUMP ON YOUR MIKE! sometimes the wedding coordinator needs to be educated.. because they don't always know what a D.J. is all about and what we bring to the party... {WE ARE THE PARTY} . :) . That costs money and takes time and planning. My area would require insurance coverage, a fire dept inspection, security, EMS / medical standby, etc. That isn't including the money for advertising / promotion, hall fees, etc. It's a really good idea, but isn't something you can just do haphazardly.

I will be running itunes through my laptop. Also, how good are bluetooth loudspeakers. Do you think I'm going in the wrong direction.. What's your opinion on what I should get. Thanks in advance, any imput would be great

+Emerson Jones no one is eqing them then. Out the box yeah lacks bass. Tune up the bass a little and bang the bass is there. Sound litterally like my 15 inch prx subs at high volumes.
