I just bought this brand new 169$ wireless Lavalier mic from amazon. Worked fine the first minute and cut out the rest of the day filming. So there is no audio for the foraging portion of the video. I'm very sorry but I hope you can still enjoy the video!
I do not recommend this wireless lav mic but let me know if you have any recommendations on the BETTER one. Thanks!

Here in Spain to tenderize the octopus we freeze it, and then to avoid it losing the skin we "scare" it, dipping it in the boiling water and taking it out for a few seconds, repeating this for three times more or less, and then boiling it at low heat for 30-45 min for a 2-4 pounder. The result is a tender, and kind of slimy meat which is very appreciated here. For more info google "pulpo a la gallega" which means more or less, Galician style octopus. It is served with the greenest olive oil, sliced boiled (in the octopus water) potatoes and sweet paprika.

Amazing forage. Man low tide is great along with the tidepools. I remas a young man about 50 years ago I was climbing under Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey. I found what I know now looked like gigantic oysters. I didn’t know they existed there. Anyways a couple of old farts bought them off me for a few bucks. Also the black mussels were very large . What a time to be alive the 70’s.

Hi Taku, thanks for all these great videos. Learning a lot about foraging the sea and will use this knowledge when I start my semi retirement travels next year. Side note: my son (20) and I (62) just returned from two weeks of snorkeling in La Paz, BCS. The seafood there is amazing. We had wood fire grilled whole octopus and also ceviche of octopus, clams, shrimp and fish. Learning so much about how to forage the sea and how you prepare these delicacies. Keep'm coming very much appreciated. Oh...when we left San Jose de Cabo airport it was 28 and when we landed in Winnipeg Manitoba it was -30, back to reality. Steve, Ste Anne, MB, Canada

All you need is cucumber, cilantro, tomato, and coconut cream/milk, and some ogo, mix it up and you have Samoan oka, or tahitian poisson cru. Adding fish is also yummy. If you exclude the Coconut milk, and heavily salt the seafood bits and add more lime and massage the seafood until soft you have Hawaiian lomilomi. I LOVE octopus as well. Another good recipe is to take the octopus clean it and reserve the ink and tenderize it with a stone, or mortar and pestle, and after slicing the octopus into chunks season with salt and I love adding chili, then pour coconut cream and bake until soft. I know for Asians our taste is to have the octopus with a slightly chewy crunchy taste but in Polynesia we love it baked until soft...what most people consider overcooked, baked octopus in coconut milk is SO good! And pretty easy to make. Enjoy all these dishes with boiled or fried green banana or plantain...I highly recommend.
