Today we install the Garmin Striker Plus 4 onto Kayaks2Fish Next Gen 10 MKII. Powering the Garmin fish finder GPS is the 50ah FPV battery we installed for the Kayaks2Fish 32lb trolling motor with a 5amp 12v regulator.

Really a great series of videos that you have put together on this kayak. Can you still recommend the Next Gen 10 MKII.

Still a great kayak for the price and features it has

About to install exactly the same gear on my Nextgen10Mk2. Battery placement is the big issue.
@wayneroberts18442 жыл бұрын
Hi. Your videos convinced me to recently purchase the Next Gen 10 Mk2 and like yourself I intend to mount my Garmin Striker onto the centre console. As you are the real handyman, have you, or ever considered adding a hinge onto the console to open it with more ease. I’m a little worried about stuffing it up as it would need to be a clean straight cut (via saw, angle grinder, dremel?) before mounting the hinge. Am curious on your thoughts? Cheers, Wayne.

Thanks for the video. I didn’t get a heat shrink with my Garmin striker 4. Is that an issue or am I okay to not have one? Could I just use tape to tape over the connections? Thanks
@waynesmith57383 жыл бұрын
after heat shrink if you use liquid tape it will make it almost waterproof as that is what i do with the truck wiring
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission3 жыл бұрын
Definitely try to make it as watertight as possible

you cant just install without showing it in use! I'll be keen to see what it looks like in action :)

So will I, had a slight miss hap at the lake last weekend and let's say I had an involuntary swim, so will hopefully be posting a video on it in a week on me using it 😂

@@OutdoorFishingLivingMission oh no! Hope you didn't lose any gear? I seen some people actually take a snorkel mask for this reason on their yak.
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
Lost my knife and broke my favourite rod, my fault I forgot my stabilisers. Haha a snorkel would of been a good idea haha

Thanks mate for the instruction. I would like to buy the next gen 10 mk2 and would like to ask you that, have you found any water getting in to the kayak through scupper hole. I'm a fat guy weight about 100kgs.

They are pretty solid kayaks

Hey mate, love your videos and am really close yo purchasing a mkii. Was just wondering how you've found the stability and whether you get much splash coming into the front mesh area? Cheers
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
You definitely will get splash over the front, depending on your weight and height I'd recommend the outriggers for stability but they do slow you down a little. Worth the extra stability though
@jacksondoherty74294 жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorFishingLivingMission yeah, I've been a bit worried about that. I'm 6 ft 2 so I'm also worried about leg room, but I love all the features. Ahh decisions decisions haha
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
The leg rooms not bad I'm 6 ft and pretty comfy with the seat on the low position

Hey mate, im looking at getting the same set up as your kayak, just wondering how everything is holding up? You planning on upgrading or is the kayak good enough as it is ?
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission3 жыл бұрын
This is going to be my kayak for 2021 for sure. Havent been able to get out on the water for a little as when i work the waters like glass but on my days off its rough as guts, always the way haha. Wpuld love to get a oldtime kayak or maybe small tinnie at some stage but this kayak will do the job 👍

Love the videos mate. Does the skid plate not interfere with the transducer?
@wrinklysoldier52443 жыл бұрын
Not at all... the transducer can go through about 3/4 of an inch of hull. A 2 or 3mm plastic skid plate won't interfere at all. Have done this myself recently and it works a treat. No issue at all

Hi champion I am setting my mk2 with the same fish finder now, you connected the two wires but there is another two wires not connected and tips exposed, what do we do with that what are they for? Thank you
@josephaerialphotography67342 жыл бұрын
Hi what size exact is the hole where you put the wire for the fish finder?
@blakehocking33973 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the connector and for how much? I'm a massive novice here. I have the same yak and want to put the garmin in it too....

did you end up setting up batteries? also is regulator actually required ?
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission3 жыл бұрын
Havent gotten around to it yet, unfortunately my yak hasnt touch the water for a little, hopefully i get out there soon

What do u think of the pedal kayak look uncomfortable to me

This ones pedal control for the rudder, nice to have adjustable foot mounts even if its at its tallest setting
