Mike Really good video, saw a tree lopper using this to clean tree for felling around house. The only thing missing was a comparison on noise between a petrol and battery, which is the biggest advantage, no neighbour would know you where cutting with this little beauty. I am thinking of buying one for my handyman business.

I’ve got a MSA 200C Chainsaw with the same battery, brilliant machine. So I can imagine how good the Pole Saw is. It’ll cut through anything, I even tried it on some 10 year old on the ground, dry 350mm Tough Aussie Blue Gum and it powered through that. What he used it for it was the ideal machine, in its element doing that sort of work. The battery does last for ages. I get about an hours cutting time, and a 30 minute recharge. Every man needs 2 Chainsaws, Fuel Powered, and Battery Powered for the small stuff, and you can even use it a night when your sitting around the fire outside. Nice and quiet.

A lot of people suggested I get a pole saw after viewing my last video. I'm torn between electric and gas. I like the looks of the Husqvarna gas model and I've been so happy with my 455 Rancher chainsaw, but this one looks pretty encouraging. Thanks for sharing. -Ed

ok it is june 2021; all of the stuff i read is "two years ago".ok fine. i'm watching 6.07.2021; this is a good video. no bs. just good camera and display of tool in excellent place to show how it works. again, the video not the yakking speaks for itself. because it's june 2021, covid has hit stihl and many others, so product availability is an issue; called my local dealer and placed an order after watching this; I live in a total woodlot with stream and woodlands; most of my stuff is over 8' above deck; just bought a stihl msa battery 200cb for the close to the deck stuff; this is a good reliable, honest video, the kind I like. No hype. Actually better thank the stihl HTA 85 vid on their website. Good Job and thank you

Mike - i had to replace my pole saw and went back to your video. I could not bring myself to buy another battery powered tool. I ended up buying the HT133. I already have the fuel system. I was worried about the 50 minute battery life as when i go out, it is for hours. Appreciate your videos and it helped me decide on my pole saw purchase. Win, win for Stihl.

When I checked the battery and it still had 3 out of 4 lights still green. That is a really good pruning saw I can say. Just had some branches cleared that were close to a powerline in my backyard. And my power company was using the very same saw. So you know it has to be good! But I think it fetches a price tag of $600 when you buy it together with the battery charger. A little steep for my needs but nonetheless the best pole saw!

Another awesome video!! I recently invested in The 18volt RYOBI version. Don't get me wrong..HUGE STIHL fan...recently invested a grand into a new Chainsaw from there... What sold me on the RYOBI was 3 things. 1st: the angle of the bar. actually made it easier to use 2nd: I have 16 18volt batteries from other ryobi tools & 3rd..I had recently order an adapter from the Aussie Land down under that allows use of Dewalt 20volt batteries. Which I have 16 of as well. Going with it seems logical.

@farmonthehill73906 жыл бұрын
I have the Stihl battery chainsaw, pole saw, blower, and lawn mower along with the battery charger and multiple batteries. I also have one of their gas chainsaws and the gas trimmer/weed wacker. The AP 300 is the new battery for the lawn mower. It has enough juice to mow a .2 acre lawn but when used on the chainsaws you will likely tire before it does. The original chainsaw battery had enough juice to cut down a 10" diameter tree and convert the entire tree into firewood and kindling and still had one bar left on the battery monitor. The AP300 should last 2X to 3X longer. You will need to watch the bar oil tank as it will run out before the AP300 battery runs out. These Stihl battery tools can do real work - your real limit is the bar lengths (length of bar is effectively the limit for tree diameter). I found I use the electric tools more (for suburban use) because they are so easy to use and have none of the headaches associated with the gas tools (fueling and starting). For professional logging or farm work, obviously I would want one of their professional gas saws with a much longer bar.

Hi Mike, Thanks for doing this with battery setup. Have been curious about battery chainsaw technology. I ve always had great appreciation for STIHL gas chainsaws. My 13 year old farm boss runs like NEW today. My only caution would be "Future Obsolesence (sp) with battery technology. That probably would keep me from purchasing battery unit. Maybe STIHL someday could figure out solution for this purchasing objection. Thanks again for doing it. Looks like another quality product from STIHL.

A comment and a question... When I do this kind of work, I try to pile up the limbs/debris into "bite size" piles as I go. This is a bit more work, but it does two things. It makes it easier to move around and access the rest of the tree, and it's way more efficient when it comes to picking them up with the grapple. Otherwise I seem to waste too much time and diesel chasing around individual branches. It also disturbs the ground less if I can just come down from above and grab the pile, rather than scraping it up with the grapple. May not be a factor if you aren't mowing that area. Question: Do you (or any of your viewers) know what specific species of "pine trees" these are?

I know all about using a pole saw. I cut limbs off my oaks, yesterday. I have a cheap Black & Decker 20 volt one. It really does not cut- it gnaws the limbs off. I wish I had your Stihl pole saw but I am a po boy. If I was going to spend that much for a pole saw I would get a gas powered one. It does cut good - your HTA 85. It is just hard to justify that much money for something you only use every two years, which is about how often I cut limbs.

The new lithium battery products are very impressive. If you have to stop and start a lot combined with no immisions, quieter, less cost for maintenance and cost of fuel then already you may be way ahead with battery tools. With even better batteries around the corner gas saws may soon be in the decline. Nice video.

The bar oil tank looks to be very contained. I’ve got a craftsman pole saw and it will leak if not stored just right. That seems like it’s a great purpose saw for sure.
@dr.figvideos33036 жыл бұрын
I’d love to get one. My questions are: 1) How long will the battery last, and 2) When/if I need a replacement in 2-3 years will Stihl keep making them or a backwards compatible new battery. If not, I don’t want an expensive tool on my hands in a few years that is useless.
@farmonthehill73906 жыл бұрын
I've had the stihl electric chainsaw and several other battery tools for 3+ years. The original batteries work fine though the new AP300 for the lawnmower really lasts a long time in chainsaws and a little longer in the blower.

Great video Mike! I’ve always wondered how well those bat powered pole saws would work. I was wondering if it hurts the trees to prune them back in the summer? I think I was told once to do it after the growing season. I have no idea if that is true. Oh yea, Stihl and RK are very smart to use you as a one man marketing demo. You have cost me a lot of money over the last couple of years buying the stuff you endorse! Keep up the good videos, I really enjoy them.
