People always over accentuate. I’ve been known to have a short fuse. Any new boss that I ever got I always told them if my name comes up and you hear that I was a raving maniac. You need to consult with me and I’ll tell you Exactly how it went down cause I ain’t out to bs anybody. But as you can imagine the jerk offs usually went with the first thing they heard. I’m so glad I don’t know how to deal with them. Idiots anymore.

Mike I hope you never stop doing you! I enjoy your videos. I watch them as I have my first cup of coffee in the morning. I agree with you about change and the need to have it. I tell my college students there are only three things for certain in life - taxes, death and change. If you are going to succeed in life you have to expect change and embrace it. Admittedly I do not listen to all of your discussion videos. Not because I don't like them, but because they might not be relevant to me. We are different people with different things going on in our lives. BUT, I will never complain about you doing them. Like I said, you do you! Watching you light the bonfire reminded me of at time in the early 1970s. My dad had bought a piece of property on a lake and we were going to build a cabin. He arranged to have a D8 Cat hauled out (illegally I might add because of weight restriction in the spring). The Cat created huge piles, just like the one you had, but BIGGER! How times have changed - my dad told me, a pre-teen boy, to start the fire in one of the piles. By myself, without adult supervision I should add. COOL! I was stoked to do that! So my best friend and I grabbed the fire water (what we called diesel) in a five gallon plastic container and set out to start the fire. I tossed a bunch of fuel on the top of the pile (I may have even climbed on the pile of brush to be able to spread it around). Then we started tossing lit matches onto the pile. Nothing happened. So my buddy and I got closer so we could see what was going on. Being spring it was still very damp in the forest, and the matches were just not igniting anything. There seemed to be a little smoke but no flame. My buddy got the idea to blow on the area of smoke, which meant he had to get really close to the pile. I, in a brain dead boyhood way, grabbed the diesel can, without warning by buddy, and tossed a bit more diesel near where my buddy was blowing on the smoke. Can you see where this is going? WOW the whoosh I heard when that pile went up in flames was enormous. Almost like a bomb went off. My buddy fell backwards with singed eyebrows and a look of total shock. He looked at me and yelled that the diesel can was on fire! Sure enough I saw flames coming out of the opening. For some strange reason I got the idea I could "toss" the fire out of the can, so I shook it at the fire. This only "added more fuel to the fire". I ended up tossing the entire can, and what was left of the diesel on to the fire and scrambled away. I must say, that was one hell of a fire! It is incidents like this that makes me wonder how I am still alive at 65. And believe me when I say, there were several other incidents that could have gone very wrong. Take care Mike and keep on making videos.

Good Morning Everyone, Mike your Honey Do project gave me some ideas - just need some spinners and the ideas could be endless. Old orchard looks great. Think back when I was young that would have been a great baseball field - ours was usually a cow pasture (had to watch out for meadow muffins) Glad you leg is all better took me 1 1/2 year to get over a shoulder injury after falling in the snow and hitting a tree. Finally cooling off here in GA not as cold as your area but it has been nice. We have a saying "Adapt Overcome and Improvise" you keep doing that and your videos will always be great! Stay Safe. One thing that we all need to realize is that brush fire starting differs by species of trees and weather. You can't argue with success and you are successful. I remember 60 years ago watching the farmer next door start stumps with old truck tires. Thank goodness that isn't done anymore.

Don't know if you've you have thought about this, but those sawmill cookies make good learning tools. How old was this tree? Using the growth rings you can tell the rainfall in the various years. Where in this tree's life did the various wars happen? If the tree is old enough the tree might have been in existence at the time of WWI, the Titanic etc. In the future this could make a good science fair project for grandchildren. And remember, always hug the tree before you cut it down. It makes the "greenies" feel better. 🙂

Melissa, you HAVE NOT lost your self confidence. It's very evident when you pay a visit in OWTH vids. Mike, I'm just sitting here with my last cuppa thinking how much fun it would be to run a mini ex, but after a pretty short amount of time, we wouldn't have any woods left (only about 8.5 acres here). I already watched Eva's workout vid this morning, she's a natural in front of camera. I remember watching that cheeseburger soup vid quite a while back, but I still haven't made it. I"ll keep a watch out for the updated version. Our family always does the "bring something with you" parties. Those are the best.

I can't verify this but have heard "green" brush that's only been cut a short time is naturally converting the sugars it contained into methanol during the early stages of decomposition. It makes some sense as to the aroma a fresh green brush pile will put off, and how well they will burn.

You should get one of those attachments for your excavator that has a grapple and the chainsaw built into it so you do not have to get out of your machine and it’s a lot safer for you. Not sure how much one would cost but that would be pretty cool.

Hi Mike. I appreciate those discussions (Liberty safe). We tend to get our minds made up about certain things and often, but not always, require dissenting opinion to reveal variables that we did not take into consideration. I believe that too many Americans choose to be spoon fed their decisions by whomever they have chosen to follow instead of investing in their own original research and contemplation. I also believe that those who like cookie-cutter KZbin productions are in the minority but often seem to be the loudest in terms of aggressive commenting. I follow you channel because I'm interested in most aspects of what you do on your home-sites. You occasionally offer an opinions that are contrary to my own; something that I value more than those opinions that support mine. The TLDR; great channel! I really appreciate what you are doing.
