Today we got some work done on the mini cabin, rafter and overhang, and started working on the siding. The siding is Tounge & Groove Pine with an oil based stain on it.

Regarding the purchase of new tools, a couple of years ago, I needed to cut two pieces of PVC for a drain. (YES! I had a hacksaw). So, I told my beautiful wife the chop saw was "dead" & needed to get another. I told her it SHOULD only be about $200.00 When I returned with my amazing Kobalt dual bevel, 12" radial arm saw WITH the portable/fold up workbench...it wasn't as well received as your new nailer. It is still one of the best $700.00 purchases a guy, (or girl), could make. Love what you guys are building! TII

Great to see progress on Mini-cabin. I didn't have a lot of time yesterday to expand on my congratulations comment. The reasons I subscribe and view as soon as I see your video posted are: 1) you focus on what you are doing, not trying to create content; 2) your videos are well done but not slick/phony; 3) you involve the whole family, especially including Hunter whenever possible (a couple of friends/coworkers have children on the autism spectrum and you are really doing it right with Hunter helping him continue to progress) ; 4) you and your family are grounded (I loved it when Eva goosed Hannah with the battery leaf blower); 5) the products you spotlight and your sponsors are solid performers which is becoming more rare on KZbin as time goes on; and 6) the variety of your videos is really outstanding, not just the same thing over and over. Keep up the good work, congratulations to the whole Morgan clan.

Mark Priddy Fort Worth Texas 59 years old Started watching Morgans last spring when I started helping my 82 year old dad down in Stephenville TX hour fifteen min drive not bad. I go every Saturday. He developed some health problems so im taking care of his twenty five acres. Six of the acres are red and white oak. The rest is fine costal hay for ag exempt tax. Id never ran a zero turn and now mow about four acres. Ive also been using his New Holand 60 hp with box blade and front end loader to clean out the fence line and make trails in the 6 acres of oaks. I bought a 27 ton wood splitter and bring home wood every week to spilt and have split two 4x4x8 cords. I have really really enjoyed watching and learning from you'll. I have picked up meany tips. I blow leaves from under a pecan tree today for about two hours. I thought of youll and your leaf blow. I always think about how hard the Morgans work and it helps keep me motivated. You’ll are really an inspiration. Thanks for all your help. 😎

Looking great, I've been following and enjoying y'all for a while now, but I'm almost obsessed with this project. Everytime I get on KZbin the 1st thing I check is your feed to see if there's a new update. I'm not a hunter but this project has inspired me to build something similar. Living in Florida it will be mostly screened in, but watching this episode makes me want to use some siding somewhere, maybe on the bottom 1/2 of the wall and screen the top part. And I still think y'all should screen in the bottom of the cabin. It would give you a nice shady, bug free area for the grandkids to play in.😊 Thanks for your videos, ideas and inspiration.

The siding is beautiful. Great color! Watching you having to work alone really made me feel that I wanted to help. If that were my cabin, I'd put about 3-4" of flashing behind/ under the lowest piece of siding to keep the water away from the 2 x 10". Mistakes are too easy to make when constructing off site. You've done well.

Hi Mike, I'm way out west, in sunny Southern California, about 75 degree high today. Been a follower for about a year or so, but have never posted. I'd like to make a few observations/suggestions on the mini cabin. If you would have used balloon framing on the tall peak wall and the two gable end walls, it would have been simpler and quicker and significantly stronger in the vertical plane. It dose, of course, require some math and a clear design from the start. Only additional work is to cut the gable wall studs to the pitch of the roof. Tie the top plates together with some Simpson straps as you won't have the double top plates to lap at the corners. Additionally I would strongly recommend some form of house wrap or tar paper under the siding for additional water proofing and air infiltration barrier. You will be shocked how much cold will get through the cracks, especially if/when the siding shrinks and warps, as all wood does to some extent. I would also suggest extending the siding to below the bottom level of the floor joists to protect the joists and especially the top of the posts from getting soaked every time it rains. Not sure what you are planning for the roof, but for sure 30# tar paper and don't forget the metal flashing all around. Not trying to be a jerk, I just want your efforts last for a lifetime... well at least as long as possible. Don't work too hard, and stay warm.

Hey Mike, regarding the "wobble", you can remove that by running DIAGONAL 2 x 4 BRACING on your corner posts. I highly recommend this unless you are going to be storing anything under the blind. sure, the siding and roof will tighten things, buy diagonal braces will REMOVE THE WOBBLING. A scaffold plank between two ladders will save a lot of "ups and downs" on the ladder. of course it is easy to be sitting here and supervising your work! lol

Your not going to put regular roofing shingles on it are you? Use the metal roof. You can make small metal overhangs for the windows also. It does look good.

Nice job on the mini-cabin and love that Dewalt trim nailer! All my nailers are pneumatic but the next one may be a Dewalt 20 volt. Some cross bracing on the posts should help with the wobbly floor and sail effect form the wind. Are you using a pre-stain conditioner on your siding? Goes on fast, drys quick and works really well for putting on an even coating of stain with no blotches. Without it I just make a mess with stain. I use the MInwax brand and a rag for all my finish work.

My Grandfather use to say, "Ya can't see it from a galloping horse." It looks good on the video, if you screwed up too badly Mike resist the urge to use the macro lens. That's a really fine looking finish nailer definitely worth the price. By the way Mike there are roofing nailers that have a larger magazine to hold the larger heads of the roofing nails...they should be available for roughly the same price as the other two nailers that you bought. Ann would like to add that the mini cabin will make a great pool shed as the pool will be placed up hill and then be on an even level with the shed, good planning Mike. Great video, thumbs up.

The mini cabin is really beginning to take shape. I'm anxious to see what it's going to look like when finished. Early Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Mike I think you need to make sure Melissa gets a pool house when you build her pool/spa. good way as some said to justify the new nail gun. You two remind me of my wife and I the way you work together, share and come clean on tools for jobs. 😊 Have a heart felt Thanksgiving enjoy your family.
