Interesting that you're loaded into the Eye of the Universe map with a suit by default, regardless of whether you had one or not. This speedrun must have never even occurred to them 😂

I think the contrary is true. The game is not beatable without the suit, so they did think of this speedrun and threw people who wanted to do it a bone

@@photon_break its unlikely that they thought of this speed-run, but fortunately it still works, because the eye is in a another game scene than the main game so it's always loaded the same regardless of what you did in the main game scene. So in that scene the player has the suit on in default, just excellent game-play programming.

@halo123proplem they thought of speed runs for a lot of parts for example locking how fast the sleep mechanic can be gone through so people with better machines wouldn't have an advantage etc. They talk about it in the ign speed run and making off outer wild video

@@_M_i_C_a__ No, I believe they work off of sight, which matches with the other mechanics like quantum entanglement. However, in Echoes of the Eye, most technologies work off of light, following the other mechanics which I can't explain because of spoilers.

Infinite oxygen.

The vessel entrance doesn't have oxygen, so normally I would suffocate there without the suit. But by entering the forge then clipping out of it, I can "steal" the forge's oxygen to effectively get infinite oxygen.

The first time I actually got to the forge was by activating the switch to push it up then flying on the moving structure of the forge with my jetpack. I instantly figured out it was not the legit way lol

I didn't fully understand the warp pads when I first went there, so I raised the forge and then spent about ten minutes trying to wedge my ship between it and the roof. It eventually worked, but I knew I had to be doing something wrong

Nice, and still a lot of time save to be made (getting the warp core in was a bit painful). Why didn't you go through the door in the vessel to get straight to the museum tho? I thought that was the faster way.

You can only do that in the first few frames after warp and you can't build up the necessary momentum to reach it in time w/o the suit I believe.

@@vibingwiththewind2889 that's correct. You only only have milliseconds to utilize the glitch until the clipmap updates. It's just an exploited oversight. Honestly when someone happens to find a way to cheese it, I'll be impressed

That's actually a speed tech, because the game ends when you die, and scout boosting like that moves you closer to death. It saves like 1 second or something.

It will still have a suit, there is no asset in game for a "suitless self" NPC

​@@orionpisces5875I don't think that's true, you can look down and see your torso without a suit and you can definitely take pictures of yourself without a suit using hearthian cameras (I don't remember exactly how, but I know I've done it)

Gives you suitless oxygen outside of the ship. This can also be achieved on white hole station, but then you get/keep some kind of weird momentum relative to the planets. Btw I really recommend thestrangepie's suitless max%, that has so many crazy strategies and is a massive achievement

@@danielmilyutin9914 Just an exploit. It comes from hitting the entry trigger for the forge but not the exit trigger (because I clipped out). Basically tricking the game into thinking I'm still in the forge and giving me the forge's oxygen.

@@TPHRyan I don't know exactly how it works in the code, but I presume it's from hitting the entrance trigger but not the exit trigger, thus tricking the game into thinking you're still inside the forge. There's a bunch of other areas in the game that work similarly.

Is the timer supposed to stop while dozing off? Pretty sure that should still count as game time. But I don't know the speedrun rules.

We pause the timer for sleep because the speed it goes at is hardware dependent (basically the game is turning off all visuals and running the physics simulation as fast as possible). This way, runners with worse machines are on an even playing field.
