Claire & Jamie > The Power of Love: The weekend pictures of Outlander folks look great. The power couple, Cait & Sam looks stunningly beautiful. Why is it that people cannot seem to get enough of them? Yes they are beautiful, good actors, but it is much more than that. There is the fact that they both do fundraising events for the causes that they support.. I first decided to watch Outlander after watching an interview with Caitriona & Sam during which the described the beautiful qualities they have discovered in each other. What I was hearing was the mutual respect, friendliness, care, appreciation and admiration they have for each other. It connected me to the Principles and Philosophy of "UBUNTU", thus sustaining my 'Re-Imaging' and 'Re-Imagining' 'New Hope' for Humankind. Millions of people all over the world watch Outlander. Of course, there are the talents and beauty of 'the power couple of the series', Caitriona & Sam, and the talents of Diana Gabaldon who wrote the books, other actors, executive producers: Ron D Moore & Maryl Davis, and others; plus other writers, and musicians which give life to the show. At the same time, the central theme that characterizes Claire & Jamie's relationship is that of deep love and friendship, sincere devotion, compassion, and the support that they provide for each other. Where does the strong connection that exist between them come from? Well, Caitriona & Sam strong bond of mutual support, respect, kindness, and friendship toward each other shine through the two characters, hence redefining 'the 'properties of friendship', love, 'mutual respect' and compassion' . That is something that touches and captives everyone deeply, as we all need it. A BIT OF 'UPLIFTMENT', JOY & HAPPINESS FOR HUMAN KIND. >Today more than ever, the world needs more kindness and compassion, mutual respect, support, and appreciation of one another, So, we want to be inspired. Every bit counts. Maybe, all the 'positive energy' in the universe conspired to bring us 'Claire & Jamie' in the persons of Caitrional Balfe & Sam Heughan to remind us of what is possible in a loving, kind, caring and respectful relationship, whether it be with 'friends', colleagues at work, and of course with our 'life partner'.

After the Host changed the question about abuse, Cait´s face and expression changed forever....
@Bailey2006a6 жыл бұрын
Ceci P Her facial expression revealed all. She’s very outspoken about women’s rights. I understand why Ron prevented Cait from opening up several cans of worms... it was a big possibility that Cait might have alienated some of the more conservative members of that audience who think Judge Kavanaugh was the victim as opposed to Dr Ford. She takes a lot of crap on Twitter whenever she espouses her political views ( as does Terry Dresbach). Although I hold similar views to Cait, the STARZ PR department ain’t going for it. Like any corporate entity, they don’t want controversy... The books are replete with rape narratives which must gall Cait or any woman who could see this as a possibly overused plot device. You have a family where the father, mother and daughter( Jamie, Claire , Bree) are victims of rape or multiple threats of it. Very exploitative. Otherwise, I love the show... and think Caitriona and Sam are brilliant in it.

@Bailey2006a6 жыл бұрын
Nayla S Do you know any families with the same circumstance ? Of course, you don’t . All of those rapes in one immediate family is not just excessive...it diminishes the severity of the act by using it as a facile plot device. This is not my opinion alone but it is an issue that is constantly raised in reviews of this show. It may play a part in why the show is repeatedly overlooked by the Emmys despite the fact that it is one of the best shows on television. Caitriona is in a very difficult position in the age of #metoo. She plays and is, herself, a strong woman who is an exemplar of all the things women have been dealing with throughout history vis a vis male supremacy. This is, inherently, a political issue. Unfortunately , there is a significant part of this show’s viewing demographic that cannot abide any expression or acknowledgement of this fact by anyone associated with the show . The very thing that makes Claire the most unique female character on television is what these people want to ignore. To me, it’s a betrayal of Claire and of the ongoing movement to achieve equality for women throughout the world. Our daughters and our sons deserve better from us. My hopes are pinned on “ woke” young folks who are ready to be the change they want to see. Stay strong, Cait... we’ve got your back .

The fan that asked the political question knew it was not the appropriate question for the occasion, she knew it would bring down the energy in the room and ruin the tone and she asked that question anyway. That is what upset me. There was no need for that especially when you knew better.
@Taquana266 жыл бұрын
Why was it inappropriate? I actually really loved that question. Jamie recovering from being raped was a powerful storyline and the violence against women in the show is also powerful. If some viewers become empowered by seeing these characters recover, why is that bad? This show is really heavy! Yes, it involves big historical issues of the past, but those issues affect today too! I also feel her question was valid because it involved sexual abuse portrayed in the show. Sexual abuse has always been a huge deal! The people booing her should be ashamed!
@boutux6 жыл бұрын
@@Taquana26 I understand the seriousness of sexual abuse and trauma better than most (because of the work I do) and I didn't say it's not an important or valid question. If she stuck to the experiences of the characters or the actors while shooting those sexual abuse scenes it would have been more appropriate but the moment she brought in real-world events and alluded to the #metoo movement it put everyone on that stage in a precarious position and made everyone in the audience unnecessarily uncomfortable. While the events in the show are relevant both in the past and present, people also watch tv to escape from all the politics of the present day. One can argue that the topic of rape as presented on the show is heavy enough without having to bring up the #metoo / #timesup movements, just to further complicate things. There is a time and place for everything, but that was neither the time or the place for the question she asked, as evident by the reaction from everyone on stage and the audience. There is also a thing called 'reading the room'. When you read the room you can tell what kind of conversation would go well and whether or not the people in the room will be receptive to what you have to say. She knew the question was not the right question for that moment, she more or less said so. She knew the effect it would have on the room but asked it anyway. The only thing she succeeded in doing was making it awkward for the showrunners and bringing down the energy in the room. That was completely unnecessary especially because she knew better.

The fact that you think that talking about sexual consent and sexual misconduct is a political issue baffles me. The fact that D. Moore had an excellent opportunity to talk about these issues publicly, and instead said that he doesn't want to make it about politics, is the reason why Caitriona's face changes. They way sexual misconduct is dealt with in society, is not a political issue and it never should be used for political discourse. We all should be fighting for a better society, regardless of political views, a society were no one has to ever feel forced into a sexual situation without consent.

I have used a sharpening wheel many times throughout my childhood. In order to get a good, even edge, it is important that the stone is balanced and well rounded. It needs to be wet while used, and the edge that you are sharpening should be held away from yourself while you (or preferably someone else) swivels the stone around towards you. That way, you are in full control of the angle of the edge, the slurry buildup (if you do not pass the stone through a trough of water underneath the stone, which will remove the slurry before the wheel comes around towards your face), and can make the minute adjustments needed to sharpen the entire edge in the same fashion. In the clip, Claire SITS by the wheel, and holds the axe on the other side of the stone's zenith, as if to make absolutely sure she cannot see what is happening to the edge of the axe. The wheel is extremely uneven and dry, which would cause sparks to fly and the axe to move in a way that is pretty close to uncontrollable. And to top it off, she moves the stone away from her body on the top, which removes any last hope that the sharpening will happen to any desired part of the axe blade.

I guess she is demonstrating that many pioneers were on a steep learning curve when it came to carving out their new life in the wilderness.

I thought that there were places where the interviewer read her questions sounding like she hadn't read through them before hand. A little rough!
