Low windows are cool. The pets can see outside that way. Make sure your door openings are big enough to move large objects through them. Lastly, may I suggest disability friendly access to the rooms, and specifically the bathrooms. If anyone ends up in a wheelchair, they need to have space to maneuver in the bathroom (toilet) and shower. I.e., being able to roll into the shower without glass walls and lips on the floor. Space around the toilet for transferring. It can happen and you will be living there for a long time. This also includes the height of stuff such as counters. Looking good.
@BildgesmytheАй бұрын
Great ideas. You'll always need to get big items in. Unfortunately it's great to make things accessible. Back and leg injuries happen and it's great to be able to manage without creative maneuvers.

@theducklinghomesteadandgar6639Ай бұрын
The best rule for making doors and areas hanicap/wheelchair accessable is to basically have three feet so it is easy to enter/exit, to move around everything in the bathroom, to include bedrooms etc.! The best I know to describe it is ALL doors need to be 3’ wide, and then all spaces need to have spaceswith 3’ of clearance in front, and or around objects the chair will need to maneuver, so, make a template that is 3’ in diameter, radious of 1’ & 6”, and then place it around whatever you want accessible like the kamode. The person should be able to wheel up, turn some transfer to and from and have enough room to maneuver the chair out of the way but still be within reach if need be! I hope that makes sense. Basically the kamode would need the full circle in front and half of the circle to the sides. My brother is in a wheelchair and both my and his homes are accessible!!!! Its looking great and seems like it grows tons higher everytime I look, like it has gone up mountain sizes not good sized hills!! AWESOME WORK GUYS!!!

How many excited people carefully, carefully planned where and how to place doors, windows, furniture, etc in their homes only to build it and say, " WHY did we think that was a good idea?" You placed furniture, windows and stuff to try out if there's room to walk around, and see out windows. Congratulations 🎊!

@baskervillebee6097 my only concern was during their flood season that Maybe one more layer of their dirt bags' might have been something to consider.its not just about when sitting on a seat and looking out of a lower level window.Special when monsoon season takes place Bt' they responded with saying that they had already an extra lower level that they built on to.. I liked everything else about the build & enjoy their vlog..

You are so used to working outdoors and having all that space and sky around you. Don’t forget to imagine the views from your couch when all the walls are blocked in. Personally I would put in more windows, maybe fitted landscape, not portrait, to frame your views better like a picture frame. That is if your climate/south direction would be OK during the hot summer season. You could have solar control glass to reduce the heat transfer. Maybe even an oval table that fits against the wall when not in use. The curved edges would sit well in your “nothing is standard” home and echo the beauty of the curved walls. 😊
@TinyShinyHomeАй бұрын
Lots of other plans for the center space that we haven't gotten into yet. These will be the only windows on the south wall to make sure it stays stable with the large openings.

Very VERY smart to do the fake furniture layout at this stage where you can make adjustments. I don't seen anyone actually do that! Please stay safe in the heat. I know it's dry heat, but hot is still hot and the sun here is relentless :-) It's coming along beautifully and you are going faster than I thought you could. the son in east central Texas has the 6 foot tall windows in his house. the lower sill is a foot off the floor and the top is a foot from the ceiling. both top and bottom have sliding combination sections, ??2 foot each?? they may have been custom built, but they do an amazing job of natural convection cooling in the spring and fall. and the view thru a window that tall is awsome.

When measuring distance why don’t you use a wheel. A bike wheel or a piece of plywood with a circumference of, say, 5 feet marked off 0/5 -1-2-3-4. Make a mark and start at 0 and so on, every five feet either make a mark as in 5-10-15 and whatever you are over to get your length so when measuring your bag just run the wheel alongside the bag on the ground. This will save all the heel/toe measuring. You’re doing great, can’t wait till it’s finished. Mitch, Aberdeen, Scotland. 🏴 ❤ ❤ ❤

I think it was a good decision to install your windows up one more row. If the bottom of the window is 18" or below from the finish floor the traditional building codes require your glass to be tempered which is considerably more $$ than regular windows. Even with the Opt-out building program my bet is they might still make you follow their rules about tempered glass requirements.
