Ashley, I am 80, my daughter is 60, both you & my daughter hav busy lives. Ashley I admire your tenacity, your talents, & your endurance, you are raising four children, home schooling, building a ranch with your family , cooking wonderful meals from scratch, doing laundry by the sweat of your brow, none of this is done with the pleasures of unlimited water & electricity, plus, you sre nearing that infamous time in your life where mood swings and hormones are lifting their ugly heads trying to make you feel insufficient. Oh my dearest Ashley, take life , moment by moment. And just live in the now. Tomorrow will take care of itself. I have watched all your videos and marvel over the progress of your ranch as all of your family has accmplished. through tremendous summer heat, and cold cold winters. Please realize that you are so admired by all of us who wait with baited breath for your next video. You are blessed to have precious supportive children and a hard working talented husband who loves you. May Almighty God continue to cover you & your family with His grace & His mercy. Remember Ashley you are such an example of a great mother. Wife & friend. One of my favorite Biblical ststements is..." and it came to pass.." Hope is a wonderful blessing, you will be rewarded for all of your efforts in due time..From a great grammie in Florida !

Ashley, there are so many of us needing to take deep breaths these days. The world is in stress mode for sure. Just remember that you are awesome, you are wonderful, you are beautiful, and you are loved. Being a mom, you sometimes feel like no one appreciates you. They do. As the kids get older, they will tell you all the things they appreciated you doing for them. And if I can tell you one thing, being 68 yrs. old.......don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short. We are all here for you when you need to vent. Your subscriber count shows you that. Take care sweet girl. You are doing it fine.
@kathyhennigan780722 күн бұрын
You and your family are the hardest working people on KZbin. It just seems that you never stop. I think trying to catch your breath is an indicator of how much stress you are under constantly which is not good for your health. There are so many exciting things to do at your homestead that I am sure it is hard for you to even think about just stepping away for a few days. No videos, no work and something fun with the kids. Sometimes when we rest, we can do a better job than if we don't. Perhaps you can plan that on that very nice new calendar on your desk. And don't worry, we'll all be here to cheer you on when you return. I hope you had a good visit with your mom and dad. Too bad they don't live closer.

Worked for the orange box store, they also charge for pallets. They are not charged if they return the pallets,so they are just passing the pasting on to the customer. You are all amazing yet I feel so choked up when I see you struggling. You are the glue and “mortar” in your family. Please continue to work with your therapist, you are worth everything to them, and you mean a lot to those of us you touch. Take it one day at a time.

Being a homesteader is a lot of work. Sometimes all the work that needs to be done feels more than the time I have to get it done. So, ai try to prioritise. Having older kids that also helps out, makes a huge difference. I always try to thank them for their contribution. So, yes, I totally understand the house not moving fwd right now. But don't worry, you will get to it again.

May I say how relieved I am to find out other people have messy homes, get behind in their schedules, make mistakes, etc. A perfect home or any such impression makes me feel inadequate. Anyone who has a floor so clean a person could eat off it: they will never be invited to our place. It is reasonable and enough to put on the dog and clean enough so visitors won’t be offended. Love and respect (and world peace) are enough to wish for. Your family have a beautiful life plan and are good at working hard to create your dreams, and giving the rest of us something to aspire to. Re digging dirt: the Bible says that we and everything else are made of dirt. It is good work. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦

I'm glad that Ashley is reaching out! I've had more than I could handle and God was there and he helped me through it but there are sometimes you have to reach beyond friends and family. I know she "has this" but I know that someone can feel "hollowed out" and at the end of their resources even when they have a good support system. A murder in my family was too much for my support system. God is there but crisis is crisis and chronic stress is chronic stress. She may be handling it all well but be "at her limit" which is not a good feeling. Yes, she has so much. It may not be enough at times. I know it's hard to understand. It just is a fact of life. She is very strong but sometimes it's just too much. I've had too much to handle. I knew God was there but I didn't feel "carried" through it like "footsteps" says. Suffering is good but crossing the line of too much is dangerous for any of us. That's why God has things like counselors to help us through the rough patches. Sometimes having a counselor is freeing because you can be "more" real with them since they are not friends and family and they know resources you may need that friends and family don't know about. I have PTSD and I'd never get the help I need from friends and family. Something that works for me is EMDR that counselors have training in. My friends and family couldn't use this technique on me. This is something God put into us to help us and it's been discovered and brought into a therapy. My counselor has suggested wonderful books for me to read to help me understand what I'm going through that I wouldn't have had the energy or knowledge to find myself. I feel better about my condition when I can read something that explains how my brain did what it did to "protect me" during a trauma. There may be triggers going on in her life that we have no idea about. When anyone is triggered the reptilian part of your brain takes over. Once it's in control, anyone has "less" resources because they become locked into survival mode and it makes it hard to think straight. This happens with anyone. It's how we are wired. This is the way God made us. Getting back out of this mode is the key. Counselors usually can tell us methods to use to help us get back to our thinking brain again. I'm not sure any family member of mine could help me with this. God made us this way. It's great that trained professionals can help those of us that need these tools. I know you want to be supportive and I hear you about that. I needed more at times. I had people telling me the same things. Unfortunately it wasn't enough at times. I hurt my husband when I had to go into the hospital because it wasn't enough at times. I had to take care of me. It wasn't a rejection of him. He saw it that way. It's sad it had to be that way. We're divorcing now.

It's so fun to watch your videos. The photography is gorgeous and your homestead is progressing well. Building a house is such a huge effort, it's not surprising it gets exhausting. Since you're living and working there you don't really see the changes the way we do. You've done a huge amount of work in the past few years. Give each other a big hug for me please, and enjoy the visit with your parents. This is a great time of year to do it, the heat has finally broken. We live in central Arizona, so we've endured the same brutal summer as you, but without having to work outside every day. God Bless you all!

Hi hardworking family!! I've watched every video you have on KZbin and I've enjoyed it so much but today's video is my favorite hands down. I always feel inadequate when I watch other homesteaders' videos because my place is a disaster, there's half finished projects everywhere and a lot of days I just want to sit in a chair and sleep! This summer and fall has been so hot and dry plants and trees died and almost nothing has been accomplished. It is so discouraging to see other homesteaders powering through and getting things done. Their pristine homesteads and bountiful energy makes me feel like a failure. The fact that you have shown your own struggles in this video makes me feel so much better. Thank you for sharing! I'm a 62 year old woman building my homestead with only my two hands north and west of Tucson AZ and it is VERY HARD! After watching this video I'm inspired to get back out there and work on the fence separating my precious garden from a million hungry varmints! Love from Karen

So much is in a constant state of flux. My walk with God is closer than ever before. I lean more on Him, than ever. Also, you are so smart to listen to positive things. And, don’t measure it compare. You are where you are- God’s got it. My hubby and I starting completely over this month. Downsizing, selling our home and moving to a new state. It’s going to be one day at a time. These days, I can see that I was over the top about it and I TRY not to stress too much .

Hi Ashley, when you talk about needing to take a pause to breathe. I worked as a mental health nurse for decades and also experienced this need. For me it was time to take a break, not to stop, but to take time to settle and recharge. The breathing exercises that I taught clients was based on yoga and the relaxation I taught was deep muscle relaxation. That deep muscle relaxation was the time out that I needed, it was like a mini recharge when I let myself go while doing the relaxation. A lot of people are so focused on being fully in control so they think the breathing and relaxation is nonsense. Learning to let it be is an art form. Some mindful meditation is also a useful tool to use in learning to let it be. A long time ago I was at a conference and a Buddhist monk spoke about worry; “ why worry? If you can’t control whatever, will worry get it fixed, NO. If you can control whatever, then why worry? Think about it, how is worrying getting things done, moreover what is worry doing to you? Building that stressful attention with all the associated issues. Take care, just love your family too.

On the tractor, I guess that soon you won’t have too much work for a tractor except maintenance. The time for a loader with three point linkage and attachments is now. When I lived in the bush I occasionally hired the equipment needed, I was cash poor so that took a long time, so I learned to do thing in slow mode, as fast as I earned enough for each step of the build.

Dear Ashley, I had to do a major clean-up of a mini-trailer (that our fur babies use in the winter) for the second time in a week in order to lay down new tiles on the floor. For the last month, I feel like all I do is clean our homestead, and it can get to be exhausting, especially when trying to address other projects like skirting our own RV for the winter here, in the high desert in Northern Nevada. I totally understand the experience of feeling overwhelmed, considering the high winds and the holidays rolling down the pike. I think therapy is a great resource and applaud you for sharing.

You definitely have a lot on your plate. Some day are harder others, we’ve been tru quite a few things the last 3-4 years, loss, health challenges and there were days where it was hard to just make it to the next day. But faith and just that si se puede attitude our parents instilled in us has made it easier. Wishing you the best, building a house under normal circumstances is difficult, building one thats totally different and just by yourself,(with help from family) that’s a big deal. So with all that, we understand how you’re feeling. You go this girl!!! I’ve loved watching Aemon and Bec since their traveling days, great family, saw their last video where they have, Trent and Allie on their podcast, sounds like it’s going to be fun and heartfelt interview. Blessings.

I'm DEFINITELY using your videos for encouragement to go outside and build something!! ❤ TODAY - the hubs & I are FINALLY starting to put together my "Winter Greenhouse"!!! YaY!!! We're in Central Texas, and we NEVER KNOW what the weather will do! Or WHEN it will get cold. Or even IF it will get cold!! (It might not EVER get cold !) Regardless, I HAVE TO get ready for the cold - just in case. I'm growing my own Turmeric to help with my health, and it's a tropical plant However, Central Texas is NOT a tropical place, at least not during February, for sure. My big secret: Even tho I'm NOT a big fan of plastic in this world... My greenhouse is actually only made of pvc poles & fittings, then covered in plastic. So really, it's just a big plastic house. ...sigh... But I refuse to call it the "plastic house". THAT'S where I draw the line! So I'm calling it a greenhouse instead. So don't tell anybody!! The good news is that TODAY WE'RE GETTIN' IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we are watching your video for some encouraging get-up-n-GOOOO!!!! Thanks for helping us!!!❤❤❤
