@@bensison4430 by missing a pill is not big deal. But you need to take prep continuously for 7 days before indulging in risky behavior. Thereafter daily continuously. Always take prep as soon as you get up from bed in morning.

Under Obamacare your health insurance has to approve you. Descovy has a copy plan to help you with out of pocket costs. Keep in mind that Descovy is as horrible as Truvada. Both contain the killer ingredient Tenofovir.

Thank you for this helpful and informative video. I had no idea that Descovy may not protect during vaginal sex, definitely essential info! Complicated times for yr local vers trans man with kidney issues, who'd rather not strain them further with Truvada!

I take descovy and have taken it for two yrs. With my insurance I pay nothing for my prescription at all. Plus I have had no side effect from it what so ever.

I’m starting Descovy today, and really scared about the weight gain. I do have a labor intensive job that requires a lot of cardio and lifting, so I hope that helps burn more calories.

Update, I haven’t noticed any weight gain over the first 2 months. I actually lost weight, however I am pretty active. No side effects other than feeling crappy the first two days

I had so many side effects from taking prep- truvada from day one. I was on it for 2 years and I Complaint for a while. So I was switched over to descovy and I feel ok, no side effects yet , I’ve been on that for now going on 2 years. I need help on when to take it? Is it just once I day? Or twice a day , one in the morning then one a night? Right now I’m taking it once a day. I can’t wait to get the shot once it’s available, if it works. Taking a pill everyday at times can be draining in my Psyche but I rather be safe then not safe. Thanks for the video.

i wondered why my Truvada scrip all of a sudden changed to a generic Emtricitabine and Tenofovir scrip a few months ago...now I know. I had a copay card that had just a $10 copay, and with the change to the generic its now $0. I'm fortunate to have insurance and on this program...but wish it was available to everyone for free

Biktarvy is Descovy (emtricitabine 200 mg/tenofovir alafenamide 25 mg) combined with 1 additional drug (bictegravir 50 mg). I'm on Descovy for Prep.

I have a question - I was recommended on switching from Truvada to Descovy. Everything on my lab work seems normal with the exception of my triglycerides levels being high. My provider did state that Descovy may increase my triglycerides levels during use and that I should work on decreasing it by increasing my cardio routine. Based on your research, would you suggest to stay on Truvada? Just seeking for a suggestion. Lol I am actually confused on what to do. 😅

Sounds like you have a smart provider in your corner! They’re right, too - triglycerides can increase more with Descovy so I’d probably just stick with Truvada. High triglycerides can be bad news, and Truvada is totally effective for preventing HIV so that’s what I’d recommend✌🏼

I started with Truvada but 2 months in it started to tear my stomach up badly. Now I’m on Descovy and I’ve been on it for about a month and 2 weeks with no stomach issues. Hopefully it’ll stay like this. What about the effectiveness of Prep for tops? I know it’s really beneficials for bottoms because bottoming obviously cares more risk but I ready - 7 days for receptive anal sex. Nothing data for topping

Yeah I’m not aware of any studies that have extrapolated the preferred sexual position to HIV-transmission. As you already said, bottoming is the big risk here. Thanks for sharing your PrEP journey! Fingers crossed for you that Descovy works well with your system my friend!
