Finally, charging companies begin to understand that most EV owners only charge on road trips, they don't want to worry about installing apps, they just want to pull up, tap the card, and start charging. Just like when I go on a road trip in a gasoline vehicle: I just need a working gas station. I don't care if it is a Chevron or Esso or whatever. I will probably never be back, I am just a single-time user.

SUPER charging site. I am waiting for the R2 to be released to upgrade from my MY. I live in the Northeast and have not been to Joshua Tree in 30 years. It is a phenomenal spot and great for a charging hub. The other thing about Joshua Tree is it is SUPER hot, at least in the summer. One thing that struck me about this site is the size of the parking area relative to the charging spots. There is a huge area in the middle that is all blacktop. I bet the huge expanse of blacktop will make it super-duper hot for occupants of the cars while charging. I see they used plenty of concrete for the sidewalks and buildings. Too bad they did not use either concrete for the parking lot or just leave it natural gravel. Either way would have made the charging area less of an inferno in the summer. Other than that, great job Riven! I am looking forward to having them build an R2 for me when it is available. All the best.

The price increases have been insane. I bought an Ioniq 6 earlier this year and the EA near me went from $0.48 to $0.58 per kWh. I get electricity overnight at my home at 5.6c per kWh. Anytime electricity in my area is 9.8c per kWh. Pure greed. At least in California electricity already costs an arm and a leg, but it just makes me mad when I see these sort of prices in the midwest. If I had to pay for fast charging it would cost literally half for me just to take my gas car (Mazda MX-5 ND.)
@vitaliyleonov895812 сағат бұрын
11:45 Actually it's illegal to make different prices for different cars. That's the reason why Tesla added "free lifetime supercharger membership" as perk of Tesla ownership and other-brand owners should pay for that membership. It's the only way to charge other-brand owner different prices

Maybe you can borrow it to review its one redeeming quality (build quality is actually exceptional too, but the bad cameras, lack of charge limits, terrible fast charging, poor efficiency, and overall bad software hurt it a lot). Sorry, but I do not think vehicle brands like Rivian, Tesla, or even the new Twelve year LATE player IONNA of eight automobile manufacturers just now in 2025 installing DC fast charging stations have paid employees with gift shops, AC or heated place to set at the expence of adding more cost to the KW price. This us a model that is Ten years old when vehicles needed 40 to 90 minutes to charge! In 2025, road trip charges only take 10 to 25 minutes maximum unless you are have lunch or dinner break. All ev drivers need are fast chargers in a save lighted area and let the businesses are provide the rest rooms and food options. That is a proven model, so new stations should have learned lessons of the past. IMO, all DC fast charging stations are great regardless and the market will work out new builds.😊
@notshylo12 сағат бұрын
Ionna will have a number of their stations at existing businesses like Sheetz convenience/gas stores, for example. Also, I think their model, when they do have to build the convenience part, is to essentially lease it out to a local operator who will also be responsible for non-charger site maintenance.
@davidws543912 сағат бұрын
@notshylo Best of luck to them and we need more charging stations and models. I like the 24/7/365 places with reat rooms and food-drink options or restaurants close by. I think our charge times will continue to decrease as batteries improve. As it is now, on road trips my vehicle is ready to go before I am 85% of the time. The other 15% may take 10 to 18 minutes maximum where chargers are not available. It's getting better every week. Safe driving.
