I need a set of 19s for road trips; it seems more practical and probably more comfortable with a taller sidewall. I've only made a few trips in my Model S Plaid, but I have the 21" wheel package, and I felt like the range was probably nowhere near the advertised EPA range. I will admit that driving at 70 MPH on most highways will get many people tailing you, almost crashing into you, etc. I was closer to 80MPH on both my road trips, and I know that impacts the range. So rated, to get the 396 is about 245 wh / mile. I suspect if you'd done this test in warmer temps, like mid 70s and on medium instead of low, you'd see even better results. You might think the lowest suspension setting will get you the best range, but the change in total toe can more than wipe out the slight gain in reduced drag. My MXP get's a few percent better in "low" vs "very low" (slightly different labels than MSP). Testing out the new energy graph last night, I took it easy in my MXP for the 124 mile commute home. The energy graph says I paid a total 0.8% penalty for increased elevation. My X Plaid (with 20" wheels) got 268 wh / mile. The outside temp was mid 70s and I averaged 65 rather than 70. So under those conditions, I think you'd hit 245 wh / mile in your S Plaid.
@Cloxxki2 жыл бұрын
EPA rated you might get at cruising speed closer to 60-65 mph. Bjorn Nyland gets WLTP-like numbers with 90 kph (56? mph) cruising. Usually still too fast to match WLTP even in lovely summer weather. Super click aero cars can go a bit quicker on a cruise to match rated.

The top pros verify the car's indicated trip meter on a known stretch to come to a trip over/under %. This usually needs to be taken in/out of indicated consumption as this is calculated based on INDICATED distance, which is not real distance. I think most cars just count whele revolution and use a GUESSED circumference. For SOME reason, they don't cross-reference GPS in the background to come to a proper number on the dash. I don't know why they can't pretend to care about numbers they present. But Tesla is the greatest offender when it comes to quoting anything that can be exprssed through a number...

@@chengcao418 in the model 3 seemed colder at even 70 degrees. But the model X 2016, 61 degree is cold but not uncomfortable . I wonder if anybody else experienced a change in efficiency the past month.

Do you know what your numbers mean! Believe me, your efficiency was not 40 to 50 kilowatt hours per mile less! (Hint: kWh versus Wh)

@@MrAdopado thank you so sorry for the mistake. I edited the mistake I meant watt hour per mile. I haven’t tested much lately but my daily commute consumption has improved. I want to test it with a trailer but the same one I tested the past. (?) I am more curious if the new can achieve longer range base on same conditions.
