Wow such an informative video! Thank you for all this great information. I watched it right until the end. The only thing I have not tried is ceremonial cacao, until today I never knew about this product. You are a great speaker thank you so much.

There are some online 3rd party reports listing safe and unsafe cacao products. Lead can be a contaminant in addition to cadmium.
@HaloRaylo5044 ай бұрын
Does this include ceremonial grade?
@pauladdae31302 ай бұрын
Some brands have lower amounts of lead and cadmium and hence are better choices. Such as some dark chocolate products from: Ghirardelli, Mast, Taza and Valrhona (Abinao 85%). These are not easy to get in the UK though, apart from the latter. Not sure about Hu or Montezuma. However, both have published details stating that the levels in their products are acceptable according to EU standards - yet those levels are still very high. The bog standard dark chocolates in the large supermarket chains may have larger amounts. The CR stated that cacao sourced from West Africa and Asia - had less amounts of lead and cadmium than South America due to the soil in Africa and Asia having less deposits of lead and cadmium.

Thank you you for this indepth informative video, love the domestic animals in the background. I read about how the ancient Mayans and Aztecs used Cacao to benefit them. I had no idea it contained cadmium which is also contained in gold jewellery which is a posonious metel also causing cancer. Have they not found a way to remove this metal from Cacao as its destructive to every organ in the body.

@joeewell4846Ай бұрын
My understanding is that the roasted produces cocoa while the raw produces cacao, am I correct?

Isn't roasting destroying active substances in nibs?

I LOVE to add 100% Raw Organic Cacao with my morning coffee with raw real "local" honey and LOVE it. 💕💕Around 2pm for an NRG boost I'll make a straight Raw Cacao with Honey and it's loaded with Niric oxide which is GR8 for blood flow. 🚀🚀Thanks for the FAB Vid Dr Van Dyken. 🙏🙏Pete Nth NSW Oz.

Thanks for the info!🦃 I would like to hear information about oxalates in cacao. I use nibs sparingly due to concern of kidney stones. I wish cacao manufacturers would include oxalate information on label.

It seems there has been some miss-information regarding Oxalates that has been published, as there are some comments relating to it have been posted. My understanding is that Oxalates are only a problem if your gut biome does not include Oxalate digesting bacterium such as Oxalobacter formigenes. This bacterium is found in all animals that consume Oxalates. Cattle, for example will get sick from eating clover (a member of Oxalis) if they lack sufficient quantities of Oxalobacter formigenes in their gut. Humans may lack Oxalobacter formigenes if they do not eat sufficient quantities of Oxalate containing foods, or have recently been on a course of antibiotics, or, have eaten something that kills Oxalobacter formigenes, such as Eucalyptus oil, which is sometimes used in lozenges for treating sore throat.
