I love that johnnie showed her emotion recapping that moment with Izzy and Stacy. She was straight up ambushed/bullied by them and anyone who’s been bullied in the past knows how triggering moments like that can be. To just have to people in your face telling you nobody likes you and everyone’s talking about you. I was genuinely impressed with how she handled it on the show because honestly I probably would have gotten emotional on the spot, she held it together on camera but anyone with a heart should know how hard that moment must have been for her

Johnie and Aaliyah were the only two people I actually liked this season. Both sensitive souls who seemed genuine and well-meaning. I kept thinking I'd be friends with them if I knew them, and turns out they're good friends! I hope they're both getting everything they want and deserve, and that they know their worth ❤ Side note, it's ironic that Izzy said he and Chris are easily taken advantage of, specifically referring to Johnie taking advantage of them, and it turns out they both took advantage of Johnie. I can't believe how much those two and Stacy put Johnie through, I would have been a wreck. I completely understand where she's coming from on why she gave Izzy another chance. He manipulated her and made her feel the need to prove herself to him after he'd degraded her. Like a long-term negging. So happy she got away from all those people who took their own shit out on her.

I never thought Johnie was a villain in the show. It looked like Stacy and Izzy decided that she was this season’s villain, and bullied her, thinking they’d be lauded for it. Meanwhile, it just came across as mean-spirited, malicious bullying. Clearly Johnie triggered Stacy hardcore, because even at the reunion, she can’t even hear her name without making faces like a child.

I always thought that Izzy was so anti-Johnie because she knew about all of his financial issues that he had not yet told Stacy about. I think his was so afraid that Johnie would call him out on it that he was trying hard to preemptively trying to discredit her. He always seemed so stressed out about Stacy finding out that his finances were a mess and he was not going to be able to provid her the first class life she expected.

It is often overlooked on tourist trips as people spend like 4 days in Saigon but then 3 or 4 days in Hanoi and 2.5 days out of that would be a trip to Halong bay (which is scenic, but it's got nothing on Hanoi life). Johnie was always one of my faves. Johnie proves that there is a difference between "red flags" and "baggage ". People were so quick to judge, while I related to her baggage. FWIW, 20 years of my marriage and my husband and I still have amazing chemistry, some based our mutual baggage. Also, I feel similarly about Izzy. His religious background gives him baggage that many people will never, ever understand. You can't understand what it's like to leave the JW religion without having left the JW religion. For instance, the fact that his mother even talks to him is a huge shock to me. HUGE.

This just totally validated all of the impressions I had of everyone involved lol Izzy gave me bad vibes that I couldn’t explain (before it became obvious) the second Chris said “people see me as a player” I was like why do they say that? Which made me skeptical. Them harping on the fact that she said “two different things” drove me nuts because I was like.. she’s trying to process her own thoughts and feelings out loud, there’s going to be a couple theories she throws out there, and there’s going to be some level of confusion about it because it’s hard to express your own stuff as you yourself are figuring it out through this very public process… when we saw something Johnie said about Stacy and Izzy while upset I was like, yeah that’s not a great look, and I’m sure she regrets how she said those things because she was just upset, and I think if Stacy hadn’t been terrorizing her after she may have apologized but we will never know now 🤷🏻‍♀️ I knew there had to be pieces missing, because Johnie struck me as (at the very least) very genuine from the start. I’m really happy to have been able to hear her story of how it all went down and I’m really happy for her that she’s been able to move on and that she’s in such a good place now.

I love that you two have this channel together! I hadn't known about it until recently. LiB is the only "reality" show I even watch! It's weird how invested I've gotten in the show even while I loathe the way it manipulates and exploits everyone. But you were two people I really wanted to see happy. I mean, I'd like everyone to be happy. But I felt especially like I could relate to you two. I also feel like I identify with Johnnie in a lot of ways that I don't know how to articulate. I feel like people misunderstand her a lot and hold that against her, and that resonates with me. I'm autistic and often have trouble making myself understood to people, and it really sucks. I think a lot of us have been bullied at some point in our lives, and the way Stacy and to a lesser extent Izzy were going off on Johnnie really hit some old trauma for me. I get that Johnnie said some things that Stacy didn't like, although I didn't even think the things she said were as terrible as other people made them out to be. But that might be another of my autism things too... sometimes I think I'm saying something unremarkable, but it winds up making someone really angry without my intending it. So I really appreciate you two doing this, and I'm just so happy to hear your perspectives! Natalie, I love that you speak your unpopular opinions, and I agree with them so much! And Deepti, you just seem like a really kind, really cool person.

Natalie! I love your “unpopular” opinions! I love that you say exactly what you think without worrying too much about how others will see you, I think more people should be like that. We live in a herd mentality environment and people like you are critical so that opinions that can make real change are not lost in the mix. Keep at it girl! 🫶🏻

Stacy just gives me the impression that she tries desperately to come off as strong and independent, but actually just acts like a bully. Isn’t interested whatsoever in having an actual conversation because she’s already drawn every conclusion she could have. She seems like she’ll die before offering a true apology, but at the slightest “provocation” will act like it’s the deepest, intentional overstep.

As someone who has also been in a similar position of having my character unexpectedly fully, deeply attacked in an unprovoked manner (and, for me, by someone who'd previously been a friend), it's completely understandable that Johnie still gets emotional about it. Whether or not you believe the things someone says, it is absolutely horrendous to have someone tell you that you're a terrible person, and especially hurtful for them to say that others feel the same way. What happened to me was 10 years ago and I'm confident that I did not deserve to be spoken to that way, and I stand by my actions that led her to talk to me like that, but I still get choked up when I tell people about the experience. There are VERY few scenarios where it's remotely justifiable to speak to someone in such a vindictive, damaging way, and it's incredible difficult to relive it, even with significant time passing.

i like her. she's vulnerable and comfortable with being open about her flaws and regrets and seems like someone who wants to grow and move on. can't say the same for izzy and stacy. both are immature, hold onto the past and are pitted against johnie like a sick, toxic hobby. move on and get over it.

I loved Johnnie from the beginning. She always came across to me as empathetic and emotionally intelligent. I very much got the sense that Izzy in the end regretted his choice, especially when he saw Johnnie and realised he was very physically attracted to her. I think he externalised his regret and projected it on to Johnnie in the form of maliciousness. Stacey unfortunately just didn’t have the emotional range to be with somebody who has endured as much trauma and adversity as Izzy has, and I think he realised that pretty quickly. She’s had a very privileged, charmed life. The way she spoke about money spoke volumes on her materialistic values, and that really alienated Izzy. Like the fact that she never asked Izzy from a place of concern, why were you in debt? Did it happen when you got ex-communicated from your extremely controlling religious community. That’s what my mind immediately went to. He was out on his own and didn’t have anyone to fall back on, something she can’t really conceive of.

The universe had Jonnie’s back when the neighbor admitted to seeing Chris with his girlfriend. I’ve had those sorts of things happen. In fact. I was getting my lashes done and found out that my lash tech was someone my ex tried to date while I was with him in 2017. I’m not from the province I live in now, so this connection was truly unexpected. The universe has your back, always.

Ladies, please do a sound test with guests before the show. Johnie’s sound is hollow/echoey which makes it a little hard to watch.

What a eye opening interview. Johnie is very chill and gives us a-lot of context. My concern is Kinetic production, because of all of their slicing and dicing of the building of season five. I think the process n which they find contestants needs to be thorough. The show really seems over produced. When the production try’s to make things happen on the show it always turns to shit.

So happy to see this interview and get Johnnie lore! This season was boring so I just listened to it in the background when I made dinner/got ready for work. So when they ganged up on Johnnie I GENUINELY thought I missed something because I was like wait…what did this girl even do? Lol

@@banandababaIdk how you got that, it seemed like OP was suggesting Izzy wasn't mature enough or had a high enough emotional intelligence for that serious of a commitment. Also potentially he needed to fix certain things in his life before getting married right away like credit. In a lot of scenarios getting married to someone with bad credit does affect you financially too. If Stacey had good credit she's not going to want to ruin it by marrying Izzy.

Same, I don't find him at ALL attractive! I hate how he speaks, I don't like how he looks when he smiles, I don't like his bald head. So weird that so many women are all over him, but maybe it's narc charm.

44:55 Psychology IN Seattle also said something along these lines. Apparently in psychology it's called triangulation where two people redirect their anger towards a third person, the scape goat. I agree with Johnie here. And from listening to this episode so far (soooo interesting!!) I am seeing johnie's POV. Everything seems to be lining up. I didn't like her on the show because of the gossiping, but I am understanding her now
