Watching from California. As I suggested last time, if you're planning on getting some livestock for the back field, go with goats... that way, you can keep your log piles "mowed" without having to make way for your tractor. And between them and the chickens, you'll have a ready source of fertilizer for your garden.

Congratulations on the Logrite ATV wagon, No advertised pricing on the website, they sure build a well-made product from what I can see, that lightweight aluminum construction will ensure a better payload for gross weight, I was curious to see if the scissor jack is swivel base mounted to tilt as the bed raises. Thank you for sharing your FALL DAYS with us in KZbin land.

Aluminium? To me it looks like zink plated steel... But anywho, do you know why the "bed" seems to be a couple of feet short, is just for the scissor jack? I don't understand the box that will collect dirt and water, some kind of mesh/grid could let the debri to fall down on the ground. Maybe something for the R&D department...
@LogRiteTools
@LogRiteTools Жыл бұрын
@@johanneslaxell6641 You are correct the ATV dump trailer is all steel and the parts are powder coated or zinc plated. The tool box does have drainage so it won't collect water.

Beautiful spalting! Personally I like sheep better than goats. Much easier to fence in. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but generally speaking goats like to go over fences, sheep like to go under them. I find it simpler to block off the bottom of the fence than deal with Houdinis that can also climb really well. If you get a hair sheep breed they shed naturally so don’t need to shear them, plus they’re typically more parasite resistant. Most hair sheep breeds will also eat brush just as well as goats, and they’ll graze the grass as well as wool sheep.

Great video man! I used to be a caretaker on a big ranch in az and I found some old maple skids under a rotted shipping crate with some Chinese symbols stamped on it. Anyways, they were pretty weathered out and when I shaved off a side on one of them, I found the most amazing birdseye/spalted patterns that I've ever seen! I wish I still had it. Made some knife handles and a crossbow but the rest of it is probably still sitting in that old shop somewhere. Lol. Watching from NC Peace.

Hi from Southern Nevada! Love your videos and seeing how trees become useable lumber. I never know what I'll see when I tune in. I'm a wood turner and I've always wondered what you do with the round cuts you take off each side of a log to square it up. Some of those pieces looks fairly thick and could make some beautiful bowl, particularly with a log like this one. It'd be a shame if all gets burned.

Remember that if you cut the trees (cedar especially) the roots are anchoring the soil on the bank. If you cut that down you might see a bunch of erosion, which isn't good. See if you can plant some cover crops which will anchor the bank, then cut the trees, perhaps in the Spring? Just an idea.

Hey, Nathan, that was some nice maple. If you are still researching critters for your little slice of heaven, might I recommend Miniature Cattle? There's a whole bunch of breeds, the most famous being the Dexter cow. Question and tip on cattle. Is the spalted maple form soft maple or hard maple logs? When it comes to cattle I agree with the Dexters. With Dexters you can get meat or milk. Dexter meat is among the most tender meat you can ever eat. For rougher land and overgrown pastures Scots Highland cattle will graze on most anything and will do everything a goat will do in that aspect. Goats are a pain to deal with. Very hard to keep them confined to where you want them and when they get out they'll climb on anything. I know several people who have had goats get on their car. Hoods and roofs look like a hailstorm hit them. They'll get on house decks, lumber piles, log piles and hay stacks amid other places. Bad news.
