As what I can see on my screen he did a great Job. I myself and my brother in law had to do plaster a ceiling for a customer once and he wanted it as smooth as polished marble. And we are just painters. We had to plaster and sand it three times. It was a pain but the finish looked lovely, espacially painted over.

This was quite an interesting video. I had no idea that you still did actual plastering, as a general thing. In America, it's hardly done any more. We just put the gypsum board panels up - like you did - using special screws. Then we use paper tape and grout to "tape and mud" the joints; grout over the screws; and wait for it to dry. Then, we sand the "mud" smooth, then paint the walls, and ceiling - unless a textured ceiling is desired. That's sprayed on, then painted. Don't know which way is 'better", but watching an actual plasterer at work was interesting - and instructive. Once again - I learned something new from a Beastie Room video....

In Europe they do both, but it is more mainstream to plaster an entire wall instead of doing only the seems. I think that is because in Europe almost all houses are made from bricks and not from wood so we do not use gypsum boards that much. And with bricks you have to plaster an entire wall, there is no other option. When they plaster larger spaces they usually spray on the mud and than level it and make it smooth. We use gypsum or cement based plaster in Europe.

Interesting. Here in new zealand it all gets plastered. I didn't know other places did it differently. The paint goes on a lot more even if it's plaster rather than straight on the gib board

I was thinking the same thing. Typically, over here, we just plaster the seems between the sheets of sheet rock. This looks really good though

I just love how your room is coming along. I think with your plans for converting your shed into the roach room, your need for storage inside the Beastie Room will be 25%-50% less of what you currently need. So, not sure you need storage below all of your tanks. If you do want storage beneth the tanks, i like the idea of the sliding doors to keep it all tidy. What I might have done, IF storage is an issue, is brought out the short side wall 3 feet, the width of the room, with a discreet pocket door in a corner and made yourself a storage closet that doesn't interfere with your wall display area. If you have other plans for storage, I'd keep the floors clean and clear under all the tanks. I've seen you and camera lady searching for, and trying to catch up, those fast, little spiders in the tightest of spaces. And i think having a real storage solution and/or clear floors would really help with that; not to mention hoovering... its always a pain in the ass to move stuff to hoover under and behind things.

Do you think you will be sorry not to have run water into the room? The weather in UK is so different to ours here that I don’t know what difficulties that might have ensued with having water and having a sink would take a little room up. I will be very interested in seeing how that room use pans out! Lord sleepers, they weigh a ton! I remember 20 years ago, my ex told me we could carry one between us, I wasn’t sure but decided it might be possible. I got about 4 feet and went ‘I can’t, I can’t’ and felt my lower back muscles tear. Jeez Loueez, I was crippled for about 2 months, just absolutely knackered. Never again. I decided then that I would never do anything like that again, never risk having that injury again for anybody.
