You are producing (by far) the best build video series that I have seen on KZbin. It's on par with the old "power nation" TV series except that I like your presentation better. and the fact that you are actually doing the work yourself and that its done in your garage not in a million dollar facility that did 3 other TV shows. not to mention this is (again as far as I know) a unique build. LS4 in a GT6 - WOW - when its done I am sure it will be an amazing ride and have the ability to absolutely SHAME most supercars. I cannot wait to watch the first drive, tune (engine and suspension) wheel Dyno, and finally performance testing. ---- Thank you

Very kind of you to say Matt - that's a huge compliment! I think like with Chris Fix, there's something tangible about a project that real everyday people can afford. The small space just ads to that! 😂 Never heard of anyone else putting an LS4 in a GT6, an LS1 yes, but only one car seems to have been finished (LS1GT6.com) ... we join you in counting down the days to driving, tuning and testing! Glad to have you along for the ride with us man 👍

@@Mr_Spegru Nope seen em both, and would not own either one of them. But this GT 6 is a work of art, it's a guy and his dad in a single car garage that is producing what appears to be a Chip Foose quality build. I am not just blowin smoke either. I built a badd A$$ V-8 Vega back in the day (1988 thru 1990) It was quick for a street car and I drove it quite a bit, but nothing even close to what this GT 6 is turning out to be. My stars, the work done just to fit the starter should win some kind of award!
@maker-matt3 жыл бұрын
@@FanatikBuilds And I meant every word of it. As I said in another comment, just fitting that starter motor to the LS4 should get you an award. All I could do was subscribe. The original GT6 was a death trap but you have a proper back end on this thing. This may be the best GT6 ever made!
@murrayedington3 жыл бұрын
The other issue was the steering gearing was so high it was almost impossible to turn the wheel fast enough to catch a spin. Looks as if you have fixed that too, assuming it’s not the original rack.
@FanatikBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Murray - we've tried hard to improve everything we've touched! The steering rack is the factory one but it's been narrowed, and along with the new steering arm geometry, it has decreased the turns lock to lock by a good margin. It should help make the car feel more modern and direct (not to mention a bit safer as you say)! Hope you'll enjoy the rest of the series! 👍

I’m hoping I won’t have to go to the extent of modifying the entire chassis like you did. But who knows. That thing is gonna be an absolute beast! The wheel and tire combo look good! Best of luck
@FanatikBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think you're going to have a lot of fun fitting an RB under the hood - especially with the original frame! But maybe an oversized bulge is on the table for that. 😉 What I can tell you about the frame was that it was necessary not only for packaging, but also strength. These are great little cars but torsional rigidity is not one of their merits! The Spitfire even more so than the GT6 as of course there is no roof. Then, with the original frame comes the issue of the original drivetrain, none of which will be up to the task of the power you'll be making! Not to discourage you though!! I'd love to see that get built, but you may just have a few more items on the agenda than first meets the eye! 🤗 Good luck though and I hope you'll enjoy more of this series as we continue forward! 👍
@misplacedgarage3 жыл бұрын
@@FanatikBuilds definitely I’ve thought about all of there. There definitely will be frame modifications but not quite to the extent of yours. Of course you’ll probably have double the power of an SR or RB. A differential will probably be the largest task for the entire build.

@@FanatikBuilds Dude, a nice chin spoiler, a cheeky ducktail and those nice fender flares y'all did before hand.... that'll make for a sharp little ride. Dare I say it might almost be worth removing all the drip rail at that point to really smooth the profile.

Thanks Sean! Exactly, not going to be going fast enough for the aerodynamics to really do much - it's got to look the part or not be there at all! Cheers! 👍

I like the little spoiler and the de seaming that you've done works wonders, but I was also thinking it might look better if you lose the gutters, just from after the rear quarter windows....maybe curve them down behind the window a little too. It would really change the look, though if you were getting just a little tired of welding by now, I really wouldn't blame you.
@FanatikBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Thanks James! We've considered removing the gutters - much along the lines of the Lemans GT back in the day... not really sure about it though as we actually don't mind the look with them. Haha, yes, the welding was also getting a bit old by that point 😂 Thanks for the input though!

Thanks my friend! I'm honestly a bit shocked by how well it all fits in there, really doesn't emphasize just how small the car is! Check out a GT6 built by Markus Bewley, a cross between his spoiler and what you see on a 240Z was the idea. I'm not 100% sure on it, but I think I'll know more when I see the front end back together later. Cheers sir, hope you're well 👊👍

As a British mechanic I remember working on these back in the 80s and early 90s they were old then but I love what you are doing to this old girl nice to see you junked the six pot for an 8 pot can't wait to see her drive under her own steam .

Thanks so much Darin! It's amazing to be at this stage, but still so much left to do! That looks fantastic rolling out of the garage. What a buzz 👍 I imagine you'll get a better idea about the aesthetics of the rear spoiler once you've got the front finished. Original style, lip spoiler or deep air dam will all alter how the car looks overall. Have you considered wheel arch flairs on the front fenders like the Dino 246 of the same era? This is a super update and marks quite a milestone in the project. Brilliant to see and congrats for getting your calculations correct so that everything lines up so neatly. Excellent stuff, keep it up 👍
@FanatikBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Exactly Guy! It will be much easier to see what it needs when the front is together. 👍 The flares will stay as they are, but I have seen a few GT6's with them modified and it can really aid the look of the car! I particularly find it odd how the factory rear flares hang out further than the fronts, yet the actual profile of the flare is roughly the same. The body contours are just different, but because of that, if the front flares came out to meet the rears, then they would have a larger profile and look wrong! ... ugh... It's not something we're going to mess with!! 😄 Thanks for the encouragement!

Love the build and truly a fan of the spoiler piece yet no so much for the rim design pick, something more era correct would be much prettier! And hey OCD isnt really that bad when it comes to dimensions and double checking! I have it and coped with it... U r doing amazing and its coming together beautifully and wish to see this on its first test drive and amount of power to unleash on this beautiful aerodynamic body!!! Its a strong come back for glorious V8 Classic British Racing cars!

Thanks Blaq! Appreciate the feedback on the spoiler! Wheel choice is an extremely personal opinion, and we stressed for way to long before settling on these - was a toss up between them and a Minilite-styled Rota wheel. The Minilite's look good, but are very typical for the car so wanted to try something else, and we're really glad we went with the Grids! We join you in counting down the days to taking it for a drive - can't wait! Cheers man 👍👍
