Keyboard warriors love to complain about back purging. You are not making food grade components and it will be plenty strong enough for your use. AND if after a whole bunch of driving the very unlikely thing happens and it does crack, you can just weld it up again :D

This is a GREAT build gentlemen! For what it's worth, I used to work in a muffler shop and many cars used to have resonator tips (Cadillacs and T-birds just to name a few). You and your dad are doing an amazing job keeping everything on the exhaust symmetrical. I think putting in a channel/tunnel to fill in the cut out part of the rear valence is a good idea for looks, as well as rigidity. I can hardly wait to see the finished product. I'm sure it will sound as good as it looks. It is just mind boggling the quality of work you two are putting out from that tiny garage. It just goes to show you that the most important tool a fellow can have is the one between his ears, not the one in a toolbox or the size of his garage. I'm sharing this video to Facebook as I always do with your work. I too like the car you mentioned... but I absolutely love your Triumph!

First engineering project was the installation of an argon glove box for - yes, welding. No back purge required as all the environment was argon. Vacuum tube seals can have no weld impurity. Different world from garage fabrication. You do great work. Impressed with those welds. My SST garage welds were done with an arc. Lots of grinding. :)

Woohoo, Michael! I've been patiently waiting for this video! Awesome work as per usual! Ploughing on with the Viva getting it ready for exterior paint... I know I'm going about it the wrong way round doing this before the engine bay, interior & underside, but I'm retaining the small amount of original patina & matching the new panels & any small nicks/dents that happen during the build will add to it's character. Going to be a bit of a trial, but hey, I'm artistic that way!! Cheers. Leigh. PS: None of my stainless exhaust systems on all of my builds have fractured due to the lack of back purging... I use my modified classics hard, usually on a daily basis (I may be slightly insane in using a classic car this way in our Scottish climate, but it is enjoyable)! However, I do back purge anything that is before a turbo.

Appreciate the personal feedback on purging, I really do feel at this point enough respected people have said not to worry, that we should be fine for quite some time at least... and if it ever does crack... we can just weld it up again! I love your attention to detail, and hope when you finish this car that the covid-19 is gone and you freely can enter it in as many car shows as possible you will need to build a pool 🎱 room with heaps of shelving to display all your awards on. It doesn't matter how long it takes to finish as half of the fun is the journey to create such an awesome creation. What an excellent way to share with your father these memories in building something you both enjoy doing. Do you have any idea how many hours you have into the Triumph so far? Very impressed guys. @@FanatikBuilds I commented to nick and Richard that the way they had done Binky it must have completely paid for itself by now with the way they have structured the whole build on KZbin they basically gave me a thumbs up a couple of (and behind the scenes people) very smart chaps when you think of it get your channel to pay for your complete expenses.... You don't give the indication of not knowing what you are doing, a lot of your build is very technical the steering setup alone was complicated and engine, gearbox etc in many ways I think your build is far more complicated than Binky Have you tried to get sponsors? (only take them under YOUR CONDITIONS not what they want) I hope you consider finding a bigger workshop for your next build! and maybe invest in a hoist? Bugger this laying under a vehicle struggling 😁 Are you going to paint the car yourselves or assist a panel Beater in doing it? BTW have you come across SuperfastMatt yet? Top tip from long time Fabby, don’t chamfer the edges of the tubes leave them as sharp as possible because that gives you more material to help you tack them together without having to add any rod. When you tack your tubing together as long as the tube edges touch you should be able to tack them together by just putting the tungsten right in the center of the joint (and if your temp is set just correctly) you should be able to go “on & off” with the pedal and create a perfect tack with no filler rod.
