CAD pattern making. Cardboard Aided Design. Many uses for idea creation, and when done with them you can lay them on the ground and plant things by punching holes through the sheets. Burn them in a fire, or use them for temporary draft stopping.

For $2000 CAD, you stole that Massey. Around here, it would be at least double for a tractor that size, WFE, and live hydro. Congrats! The Honda is a good choice for utility use. With your snow cat, you now have all the bases covered.
@TheOutsiderCabin3 жыл бұрын
You're right about that! Old tractors were a lot cheaper and more abundant a couple years ago (before the pandemic hit). If I were to sell my MF35 now, I wouldn't be surprised if it fetched $5k in my area. Especially since I installed a hydrauluc remote kit in mine.

In 2015 when I purchased my meager 20 acre homestead in Vermont I needed a small but useful tool to traverse my property. I chose a 2016 Honda 420 Rancher as I didn't have enough money to go one step higher to a Honda Rubicon. My Honda Rancher fit the bill perfectly to haul firewood, small timber, lumber and snow plowing. It too is 4 wheel drive with a manual 5 speed and reverse, shaft driven and a SRA in lieu of the IRS for more traction but less ground clearance. I use it daily and am now looking for a compact tractor to augment capabilities and for more torque for larger and heavier tasks. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

A fellow Canadian, Cecil Skinner on KZbin took a smallish trailer and welded up a small crane with a winch. He uses his ATV to take out logs on that trailer almost every day, now that he is building a barn. If you have access to a welder, that may be a way to get your logs out of tight places, and supplement the tractor. The cabin is really coming together. I hope it is completely ready for the winter. Good luck.

Cabin is looking great. The ATV will serve you well too. I added a used Bombardier a couple years ago to my existing 4wd JD tractor. I use the tractor for mowing in the summer, and couldn't use it in the woods with the mower deck on. Now I have choice based on season, task, suspension, and load. I built a log arch that pulls nicely with either the tractor or the ATV, as do my two different trailers. Thanks for the entire series of videos. Yours is my first check whenever I sign on.

@10:26 The geared transmission over the hydraulic automatic was my choice when I got the ATV for my Dad since its primary use was to haul firewood out of the bush. Belt drive wasn’t even a consideration. The push button gear shift makes gear selection a lot easier and since then Honda has added electric power steering which makes a huge difference. I got to play around on one of the first Honda’s equipped with EPS at work and at first I tended to oversteer but quickly got used to it.
