For hook baits I used yellow playdoh, fake corn, and yellow styrofoam 1 cm balls. All 3 using the method feeder outfished plain unscented field corn. I think the visual attractant factor was important. A method feeder technique was used using rice packbait tomato flavored.

I had similar happen the other day when I was catfishing. I got hit, grabbed the rod, and almost immediately got snagged. Started pulling, and I ended up bringing in a small stump with a rather large root system still on it. Funny thing was, I was on a brand new Zebco 808 Boss Hawg with the stock line it came with still on it. I bought that combo more as a joke than anything else, but I'm a believer in it now.

Appreciate the editing, I like the subtle fast forwarding to keep things information dense. Is the pack bait purely to attract fish, or do you also see it as as a way to feed the fish/make them grow bigger?

Tom, I have watched a good number of your videos, and as I have said, really enjoy them. I have been curious for some time about how you support yourself and have as much time to fish as you seem to. For awhile, I thought you might be a farmer, who fished during the quieter periods. None of my business. Just curious. If you don't want to publish that level of personal info I understand. For myself, I am retired, and fish when the energy level permits. Wish I could find the kind of peaceful spots that you do. Not likely in SoCal.

I don't think what the pop up is matters much to the carp. I've been using fake corn for a long time with much success. My fishing buddy uses puffed cereal with good success as well. It just needs to float and resemble a food source. That's my opinion, anyway. I may not make videos but I still catch a lot of carp.
