I want to say thanks to the NYPD lieutenant for speaking about this issue and speaking out against the police department wanting to do racial profiling, illegal searches, and harassment on people with disabilities. As a person with autism including a learning disability, I have faced many challenges on being harassed by law enforcement due to having a disability across america including my visit to NYC. I totally agree that there is a need to have police reform to ban racial profiling, hold law enforcement officers accountable when they do misconduct or abuse or harass people with disabilities. It makes me sad that national news, both political parties, public officials, state attorney across america, judges, and many others aren't advocate of common sense reform in criminal justice, are against people with disabilities' rights, and are pro police without reform. I want to thank the local news including many local news reporters across the country including NBC New York for doing reporting on news, holding public officials accountable, and doing investigation reporting. When I see many local news reporters across America including the different cities do these things it helps inspire me to learn, work hard on my disability, and to feel good that my voice gets heard. I have seen many times police use the "just comply" excuse after escalating to violence on deaf people who physically couldn't hear their commands. or cases like tyree nichols where 5 cops are yelling conflicting commands so the victim isn't complying no matter what they do, and they can claim officer safety

@@MrMuis06 I agree with you but the issues within the NYPD are within every single police department in the US that has black and brown officers. Adams has changed professions and cannot be the same outspoken person he was before. But he kind of still is which is why he is not too well liked among most whyte NYPD officers today. He is still very pro-black. Some people have it very twisted about him and know nothing about he or his past. He has done a lot of work for black and brown people even before becoming Mayor. That is FACT despite what they want others to believe.

@@bennyfigdish1195 Step in how? The NYPD had this problem when Mayor Adams was a patrolman, Sgt., Lt. and Captain. He dealt with it himself while moving up the ladder. It is not going anywhere and he knows it. There are many more like this Lt. with the same complaint but choose to suffer in silence so they can continue upward. Yes men and women go the furthest in any organization. You think this group suing are the only ones being mistreated out of 34,000+? Ask Former Commissioner Sewell. And if you think Mayor Adams isn't aware of these problems, look at her replacement.

I am sure they would have given him a totally made up new position to help make new training policies that could have done way more for the people other then writing a book to profit off of this situation. What he did was seen a problem and sold out for money.. That's actually sad.. He could have made a real change because as a whistle blower they can't retaliate or fire him. So he had a huge advantage to get some real change that would have helped way more people then just line his pockets with money. If you ask me he hasn't done nothing because as they said in article it's already gone back to the old way and and instead of helping he quit.. He is no hero he is the opposite, he is a sellout who took advantage of New Yorks disadvantages

During the height of stop and frisk, nyc was the safest in history. An average perp would go to central bookings for the night just for trivial matters such as open container, weed smoking, or public urination. Also NYPD had its highest number of members at the time. Crime wasn’t open air like it is today so cops went out their way to seek crime and sometimes even creating it themselves just to meet these performance stats

I see more & more black & other minority officers in NYC streets. White ones are become ing rarity. This agency stopped working for the bloomi days when he single handedly brought down the definitions of crimes to show better numbers. Then he wasn't giving them contract,Mao they said ***** & stopped working! Then DeBloodio, as POs called him took over sides of criminals & lots of them got shut! Nobody's working in police department. Sometimes they respond but never enforce any law. This is my experience of living in NYC for last 33 years. Total & other dystopia. They're hiring for their skin color, may of them I assume are be rely literate. Don't file any reports, come intimidate or harras & go. Make sure you get a hint that calling them will end even worse. Come to my neighborhood of East Village. Thrives go inside stores, steal & sell right in front of it! We can't buy anything in the stores bc of the high pieces. Buying from them on the streets cheaper is illegal, so many become the part of the crime bc they can't afford the high prices in the stores. pct.s 9 & 13 come walk around, see everything, do nothing & go to the bank w their checks! Bravo Dem-o-rats who brought dystopia, chaos & fear in every day life of the New Yorkers!
