...those old cabs are really nice...that one was a good choice...love the beautiful compound curves of the roof...and the raised detail that runs from the cowl to under the door windows ...and then around the back of the cab...it doesn't need to be chopped...it's perfect the way it is...

Hello Gentlemen. I am the owner of the truck. It was a complete custom build. I bought the drive train with 1606 miles since new. We put the motor on the floor and built the truck around it, frame up. Email me if you'd like. Jay btob@roadrunner.com

For someone who "loves" 2 Cycle Detroits as much as you do, sir.... you sure not able to recognize them by Sight OR Sound (in this video, nor in the one you did with the fire trucks in Montreal).... what is powering this "rod" is an 8V92T. The 12V71 sounds absolutely Nothing like the V8's... 53, 71, 92 or 149 series, and the 12V92 just sounds like a 6V92.... because, it is... two separate 6V92's that are "siamesed" together at the crankshaft with an internal coupler and other assorted lower end hardware to finish it off. The firing order of the "12V92's" is really that of the 6V92 X 2...and are readily recognizable by their 4 cyl. heads / rocker covers because as I stated above, it is made up of 2 - 6V92's that are "married" -or- "siamesed" together, each having it's own separate 6V firing order, oiling system (filters, coolers, etc).... same as the very rare "12V53"s (only 8 were ever built), none of which went to Canada.... and two of them are owned (still ???) by one fellow, in Michigan. The 20V92's (rare) were made up of an 8V in the center, with 6V's at each end.... the 24V71's were made up of 2 - 12V71's "siamesed" together, each with there own systems.... and like the 12V92, the 24V71 sounded like two separate 12V71's running in unison as one. There were also a few special 32V71's built... by Stewart - Stevenson Co.... which engineered many special Apps for the GMD/DD and the early Cleveland / Winton 201A, 248, 268 and 278A 2 Cycle Diesels and the later (1960, forward) EMD (567, 645 and 710 series, 2 strokes) divisions over the decades, and is still very much in the "thick of things" as a factory authorized DD dealer, and still specializing in the design and engineering of special applications for their engines, as well as an authorized Re-manufacturer (not "rebuild") of their engines.... both, 2 and 4 cycle. The 12V71 is the ONLY V12 of the four series (there was never a "V" block produced in the 110 series) that was a "clean sheet" design from the ground - up, as a true V-12.... and utilized 2 different V12 firing orders, depending on the application, over the years it was produced... from 1957, until August 1994. The advent of the 8V92, spelt the demise of the 12V71.... most unfortunately. The sound of 2cycle Detroits (GM Diesel, as they were "badged" up until 1965).... will always be "music" to the ears of those of us who not only were around and operated them, but owned them (as I did) in their "heyday"....... when it was truly "better times" in every way, for all of us. Keep the "sweet 2 Stoke music" videos, coming.... as your able. It's appreciated, and Thanks.

+2Stroke Diesel Power it's an 8V92
@Romans--bo7br8 жыл бұрын
Yes, That's what I said... it's an 8V92T.... and you should know, you built it. lol...... and Unless that AirResearch Turbo housing that is sitting on top of the blower has been vacated of it's internals (and I know it's not, because I heard it spool up "slightly" a couple of times in the video)..... it is an 8V92"T".... the 8V92 (with no suffix) ,is naturally aspirated. Great "Build" !!! Love it!.... any other DD powered projects in the "wings"?? By the way... I just found you ph. number below in regards to your selling it.... will be calling you, tomorrow.

Thank you for posting this video... "retroolschool"...... but, it would have been significantly nicer, if you would have left the "street talk" OUT of it..... I'm sure that if you tried, you could find other ways to express your excitement over cool machinery, Without the use of such crude verbage...... remember, it's Not "just" grown adult male "gear heads" that are viewing these videos... other wise, a great video of such a class ride.

Hey.. retroolschool, Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. : ) I understand what your saying about the excitement, for sure..... just try and remember, as I said before.... it's not "just" Male "gear heads" on here.... there are women and KIDS on here, to.... who also enjoy fine "home built machinery". lol Just "food for thought". : ) I've seen some of your other "DD powered" equipment videos on Yt..... and thanks for posting them.
