Excruciating is the word that comes to mind when I think of last Saturday. I’ve never felt pain like it before and I truly hope to never feel it again. Ovarian torsion is no joke and a true medical emergency. After emergency surgery to remove a cyst the size of the surgeon’s fist, (I was also bleeding into my ovary and abdomen) a blood transfusion and fainting and bashing my face on the end of my bed (thanks to COVID regulations, I got a brand new nurse who hadn’t even passed her boards yet and my husband was not allowed to be with me. As such, she did not listen when I told her I felt faint) due to dangerously low hemoglobin levels, I am at home comfortably recovering. So thankful for my wonderful husband and dear friends who have helped me through this time. I wish this on no one, thankfully it seems to be a rare occurrence.

Yes, the female ovary is homologous to the male testicle. Both are extremely sensitive organs.

This happened to me and I had to go through 3 cat scans and 3 MRIs over the course of 6 months before I finally had laproscopy surgery and got it fixed. I had a cyst on my ovary that was growing rapidly and causing the twisting. Worst pain of my life. Worse than child birth. For 6 months. Couldn't work sleep or eat. Don't wish this on anyone.

The ovary is the equivalent to the testes in man. In both, the pain is severe.

@@Medcram Yea, interesting the same thing happened to my boyfriend when he was 12. Woke up and his testes were twisted and he couldn't move, severe pain. The doctor said he couldn't believe they were able to salvage it. He almost lost one. I kept my ovary even though I asked them to remove it because I knew my eggs were probably damaged. They didn't, and now I have a son with Autism. I'm convinced it's their fault for not listening to me. It should've been removed

Did you lose your ovary?
@angelrenate5 жыл бұрын
@@VS-im8hy Not entirely but I should have. They said removing it could cause more problems and I was young and blah blah blah. But I feel they should have removed it. If my insurance covered it I think they would have. It literally feels different to this day. Like it shouldn't still be in there. It's heavy and it still hurts sometimes because it's twists in my sleep or if I lay in a certain position for too long.

I cannot imagine going 6 days let alone 6 months with that pain. I am recovering from emergency surgery to removed a torsed ovary and 9mm cyst. I also had to have a blood transfusion because I was bleeding into my ovary and abdomen. When I went into the ER, the pain was utterly excruciating. I have a high pain tolerance, had 1 of my children completely natural, I can handle pain. This had me sobbing, writhing and begging the nurse for something for pain. You poor dear❤️

One morning I woke up with severe pain in my left lower abdominal area, I assumed it was kidney stones, but when we left to the hospital, every bump on the road was painful! I went to the ER, vomited all over their registration & random room sink (because i couldn't make it to the restroom). Went to US where they attempted a TVUS which I could NOT Handle. Within 15 min I was rushed to the OR.. woke up the next evening & was told my R Ovary had to be taken out. I'm a G0, so ultimately I was worries if I could ever have kids? What I would like to know at some point is, what causes a torsion and is their anything to do, to prevent it? I have hx of Renal Stones & often times get mixed up with my pain areas. Haha

Men get their gonads twisting treated immediately. Women get told it's hormonal and get to wait days/weeks/months because they don't do the correct tests. I literally had to medically withdrawal from school it was so bad. But Oh follow up with your OBGYN. And then yah wait 2 weeks for our ultrasound technician to come to the office. PROBABLY should have considered legal action but I was in college

I had an ovary torsion last year (I was 14), and when I was first at the doctor, they didn't do any tests they just assumed that I had some gastro problems or something like that, so they gave me some medicins, even if I knew it wasn't that, but a few days were passed (almost a week) and I still had an immense amount of pain, and I went to the doctor again (to another doctor) and they checked my blood and saw some kind if infection, they called an ambulance and I went to another hospital cause it's a bigger one where they have the machines they need,... They put me some medicines for the pain and because I couldn't eat anything, and the next day they did a echo and saw that there was something, but they weren't sure of what was it, a few hours later (or the next day, I don't remember) they did the surgery and saw it was an ovary torsion, and removed the ovary cause it was already dead, cause the first doctor said I had something I didn't have .. so yeah... But I don't really know how they took it, I have tiny scars in each side of my lower abs and one on my belly button 🤷

My daughter had a Twisting of the Ovary with 0 pain, grew to the size of 4.5 lbs, she just realized her stomach was getting big, she was 14, lost her left ovary & tube ,it was a solid mass, they called it "Edema"/ rare case, largest the Surgeon seen in his 21 yrs practice. This was 4 yrs ago now... I am wanting to know, is it safe for daughter to take combination birth control pills with just 1 ovary and tube left , will taking the pill raise her risk of blood clots, or should she avoid all hormonal birth control in her situation? Have heard 1 ovary does the job of the missing ovary, her periods pretty regular, does that mean she ovulates every month , or it would be a miss every other month due to the missing tube on her left side ? So many questions... if anyone knows these answers, please please respond/ reply/ send me a message...Obgyn was in a big rush when we saw her, very disappointed , didn't get answers we were hoping -to make it all more clear.

Interesting, feeling how the bloating and pain receded within approximately two months made all the difference, I simply go’ogled the latest by Tilly Strankten and her Ovarian Cyst Guide and although it really took about 10 weeks for it to totally shrink and vanish I’ve never felt so light and relaxed.
