Memorize where the massive 6 floor apartments are on the map so you can reject/cancel them. Half the time on those is finding parking, trying to get a code from customer, waiting for an elevator only to find it requires a key card to use, going up the wrong side of the apartment, so you have to go all the way back down and find the right door. One time I got stuck in a parking garage because the elevator I used to get in had a keycode, but I forgot what floor I parked on so I got off on the wrong floor only to discover the elevator door on that floor was a key card instead of a code, so I was literally stuck on that floor shouting for help as I circled around looking for a staircase.

I have learned to be more assertive with businesses. I have walked up to the counter at Mcdonald's and was immediately told by the manager to please wait because they were servicing drive-thru orders and someone would be with me in 5-10 minutes. I just loudly asked if they had my Doordash order ready and one of the girls working in the drive-thru handed it to me. I was the only person in Mcdonald's lobby and if I hadn't been saying anything I would have been standing there for 10 minutes while they already had the order ready. I get paid to drive not wait. Another time I showed up at Walmart and waited over 45 minutes for a $3 order. I went to the pickup door and went inside and asked them what the status of the Doordash order was for 4 items. They immediately started telling them that I couldn't be inside their pick-up area and I told them that I had been trying to call them for 45 minutes and that they wouldn't answer the phone. Walmart employees told me that they were too busy to answer the phone. I demanded to see a manager to find out why they were so slow and then someone quickly showed up with my order to get me to leave. As I was leaving a line of angry people had begun forming behind me because they had been waiting over 2 hours to get their orders. I have since decided to not take Walmart orders anymore because I am paid to drive and not to sit and wait. At Papa John's I was told that the wait was over 2 hours and the employee tried to get me to cancel the order. I told them that there is no way to cancel the order from the driver's end that all I could do is alert Doordash that the order wasn't ready and tell them why there was a delay and unassign the order.

Thank you for this. Really nice that you hit 12000 dude. My average has been $25 using Ubereats and GH. My goal is to get in the 30-35 range consistently and 4 orders an hour. What I got from this: Multi app more, reject more during busy times, dont drive during traffic, don't be afraid to unassign. And to hell with the GH premier status. Questions : Do you take the Order and Pay GH orders and if so does it affect your $/hr ? Am I setting myself back by driving til 4am or overnight? Your take on drive thrus?
@callmelil3 жыл бұрын
Great questions. I rarely take the order and pay orders, but sometimes they are irresistibly large. In those cases, I will often call the restaurant ahead of time. I call in the order, if they answer, I ask how long it’s going to take, place the order, and then will usually go accept another order from another app, depending on the time they give me. Sometimes I’ll get lucky, and the restaurant will be on my route to another restaurant. I’ll drop in, place the order, and then go take the other order while it’s being prepared. Sometimes, it doesn’t work out and I’ll have to cancel an order, but I can usually make it work as long as I’m following my other rules (ie never accepting shitty orders to begin with an avoiding traffic). I would not take them if it didn’t increase my $/hour, and so I rarely take them. Some people in my area have been successful with late nights, but in my experience, orders are more scarce, and my money is (at best) as good as during the day, so if I want to work more hours, I do better in the mornings-I usually won’t work before 8am or after 10pm. Sometimes, I will accept a drive thru order if I’m right next to the restaurant, and can see how long it is. Rarely, otherwise-even really big ones often get so big because people keep canceling orders, so you’ll get there thankful for a $20 order and realize it’s going to take an hour + to even get through
@timothyslaughter4762 жыл бұрын
Ok the 4 orders per hour sounds impossible unless the order is ready, every time, the traffic is never bad, you find each customer location without incident and of course the order is about 2 miles. I think in over 2000 deliveries I've had 4 deliveries in an hour happen five times. Generally I would make 25 max in those hour blocks. I can think about hourly, I just set a daily goal and try to hit it. The business is just to hit or miss minute to minute to forecast much.

The only time I take orders from different apps is if I am 2-4 minutes away from dropping off my first order. Then I am okay with doing that. Especially if the next order I am getting is a solid one. But I agree multi-apping orders at the same time doesn't seem ethical. Also I agree with your 1st point. REJECT ALL THE CRAP if you can. It really is about knowing your market and the time of day though. I probably will take those $5-$6 Dunkin orders on a SAT morning as long as they go by the $1/mile rule. But those same orders going 10 miles can fuck right off. I find it ironic how people shit on us delivery drivers when it's not just picking up food and dropping it off. I mean yeah that is the job. But to maximize your money you need to plan and know what your costs are going to be in terms of burning gas.

Delivery has picked up and I was thinking of doing this challenge for a month. I mean 10K would be fucking awesome for the nest egg Ive been trying to build. I want to haul ass for this goal. The only thing that's discouraging is the brutal 12 hour work days{My ave: $27/hr) which could lead to: 1) No time for friends & family obligations and 2) Possible burnout from ever doing delivery again and this is sort of my bread & butter . I could lower the hours for better work-life balance but I wont make nearly as much. How did you overcome those kinda challenges while trying to achieve your goal?
@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
Really good question. My answer is pretty me-specific though. My wife is Swedish (and not American). We normally live in London, but I brought her and my daughters to the US. We stayed with my parents, we traveled a bit along the east coast, but my wife is only allowed to stay in the US for 90 days..so I sent her and my daughters off to Mexico at the end of it. When you have a family thousands of miles away, life outside of work becomes kinda meaningless. So, it was easy for me to just keep my head straight. I had my ticket to Mexico, and everything outside of delivery seemed kinda pointless. It is a quite depressing reality, I'm not going to lie. It was very hard and emotional at times. Because of that, I think having an end date or an end goal is really important. Having little things to look forward to is also important. It might not be the answer you were looking for, but I hope that helps

Doordash does this thing where sometimes it doesn't send you the notifications, so you have to have the app open to get all offers. I was tempted to use two different phones so I could keep one on doordash all the time, but turns out handling more than one phone presents its own set of challenges. @@callmelil I was just wondering the same thing, I wrecked my car last year and ended up getting and 04 Civic, gas mileage is great but I can't do ride share with it which may have been a blessing as it turned me on to delivery instead and I see a lot more potential. Anyways, with this vehicle change I started doing Instacart, but I've noticed when using the app and especially when using GPS at same time my phone slows down incredibly and even will have odd glitches ( things like back button quits working, or I try to message customer and my keyboard won't pop up anymore requiring me to restart phone which is a nightmare when say on delivery following gps to customers house therefore having to pull over). I have a moto Z4 so about 2 or 3 yrs old and only using 32% of my storage. Do you not have issues running all these apps or do u just have a top of the line phone bc I've for sure lost good orders from my phone not loading when just running Instacart even with Verizon coverage

@@jacobwhicker8423 I use an iPhone 8 plus, and I have also had some issues. This might sound odd, but mine would act up when it got hot, my gps would quit working, my apps would wig out. If I left it in front of the fan/AC, I hardly ever had any issues. Maybe try that if you haven’t already. If you think your issues can be solved by using two phones, then by all means, get a second phone. Just note that it will present its own challenges. I was mainly referring to having two screens distracting you, and having to handle both while driving. If two apps on the same phone are notifying you of new deliveries, it’s easy to switch back and forth, but if two phones are notifying you, switching back and forth is more complicated. The problems 2 phones present are not insurmountable though, and maybe the upsides outweigh the downsides for you PS: I also tried Lyft, and it SUCKS compared to delivery. Buy a hybrid. You can (or could) get a used prius or something for under $10k. They pay for themselves in the gas they save and are pretty much the only way you can make money with these types of jobs. for ex. My 2011 prius costs 170$/mth, saves me 10+$ a day in gas (46mpg) compared to my scion xa (28mpg).. so it basically pays for itself around 17 days of every month..

@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
I drove/drive a 2005 Prius, gas was about $350 this month. After gas, it still comes to just under $12k. Hard to say exactly how much my car devalued, but the current kbb value is still higher than what I paid 50k miles later-if you take what I paid for the car and factor in its expected lifespan, factor in the number of miles driven during the month, assuming it breaks down and I get $0 for it at the end of its expected life span, this month cost me about $140 in “car value”. Important to note that mileage deductions reduce your tax burden much more than the gas, insurance, and price of the car combined (like 2-3x as much). Despite that, I can expect this car to last about two years, so now we’re talking like 5x. Maybe I will make another video breaking down all expenses and taxes.

@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
You’re100% right. Looking back, I very clearly said something I didn’t intend. I did not mean that in terms of me as a person, I meant it as me as a character for KZbin and Instagram. Nothing wrong with being a delivery driver and lots of people who know me, know I did it, but without going into too many details, I made a career from IG as a photographer/videographer before I started delivering. If my content is suddenly about driving/deliveries, my thousands of email subs and IG followers may turn off or unfollow (I sent this video out to them as well). You’ll hear I said, “I was reluctant…because I didn’t want to be labeled…I’m done now..“ sort of a, “I’m just making this one video, because I want to share, but I want to be thought of as a photographer/content creator, because ultimately, that’s my career and the image I chose to portray” (especially to my email subs, I make lots of my money selling prints, LUTs, and booking shoots in London and New York). It made perfect sense in my head at the time… I shouldn’t have said it that way, or I should have at least added context. I understand why it would rub someone the wrong way, and I didn’t mean anything by it. I apologize

At 0:15, you can see all the numbers added together. If you you add up all the screenshots, it’s a little over $11k, but in the note at the bottom, it adds in the 1st, 2nd, and cash received, none of which were included in the “weekly” screenshots-the 1st and 2nd were the end of a week that began in the month prior, and including both days individually for all 3 apps just took up too much screen space. Start working out first thing in the morning. Dont hit the snooze button. Get out of bed and run 2 or 3 miles then do some weights for 30-40 min or body weight exercises like push ups. If you do it every morning 6 days a week it will get your blood flowing. Drink a smoothie with 7 different kinds of fruit after workout. You will have energy all day. After about 2 or 3 weeks you will notice a change in your energy level. Things will get easier. Blood flowing hard 1st thing in the morning is the best thing you can do for yourself. It will help almost every other aspect of your life improve. Good luck man, you can do it. At least give it a 30 day challenge and see if you feel different. Work out 6 days a week for 4 weeks and write back. Let me know what happened.

Honestly, the best thing I ever did was just tell myself I go out every day, all day, no matter what. The danger for me comes in trying to DECIDE _if_ and _when_ I'm going to work. If I just wake up, get dressed, make my coffee, and get in the car, without thinking about it at all, it was reasonably easy. Now, you can't do it like that forever. You will get depressed as life becomes meaningless-but being able to do that for a set period of time-I think-is really powerful

I really like your videos despite how bad my market is I'm going to keep pushing to make as much as I can now. I did a little bit of work in Oregon and I can definitely say your market is better than mine here in Buffalo New York it is probably one of the worst markets for doordash and a GrubHub. The people here are way more cheap a lot less kind and the orders I get are about 99% horrible. There's legitimately times where I don't get orders for 20 to 30 minutes straight and then end up having to go somewhere else. There was a day I legitimately had to work 16 hours to make only $200 because of how bad my market can be sometimes. I'm pushing as hard as I can right now to take care of a few things I need to take care of here so I can finally go to a better market have a few traffic tickets I need to get through before I can leave this state but as soon as I do and as soon as I get everything paid off I'm getting an air mattress for the back of my vehicle putting a foam topper on it and hitting the road and I'm going to live in the market that can make me a lot more money

You have no idea how many times I thought of doing that exact thing. I am only 6 hours from SF, and I just hear about how amazing the money is...and what an Adventure! Maybe driving all the way across the US. Best of luck to you, I hope you keep safe and healthy.
@SuperNoticer2 жыл бұрын
I would like to do that for an adventure but I mainly dash out of a Focus and there's not much room to sleep in the back of it. And my other vehicles with more room aren't nearly as economical on gas.

I multi-app, but after listening to you I'm doing it as lazy as possible. Like if UEats doesn't give me an order for a few minutes then I launch DDash. I never thought of stacking! At least thought it wasn't practically possible. But after your explanation of being smart on the rejects I see how that can work!

That’s multi-app cherry picking and definitely increases your income even without stacking. Stacking has a pretty steep learning curve-it’s mentally draining at first-but once you get it, it becomes like second nature

Where I am..IHOP and Dennys is always on time. My problem is BDubs and Outback. Plus I live in a tourist area and our traffic is terrible all the time. We have one town Gatlinburg...there is no parking for deliveries...so I don't go there even though there can be more money. However I did it before and took 40 min to drive a half mile.

Traffic is the literal worst-will kill any hope of turning a decent profit. Will take a $40 hour and turn it into a $10 hour. Literally the bane of my existence. I wish I had more encouraging words. Can you dash on a motorcyle or bike there?

hi love your video, just subscribed.. let me ask you this- have u tried this strategy for multiple months or is this a 1 month experiment?? maybe i missed u say it.. and if so were the results the same as far as 12k per month?? thank u very much, stay safe
@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, thank you so much! Great question, and I did mention the answer in my next video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHjKnKWbZtpmsLM This was my only $12k month, but it was also the only month I was shooting for that specific goal. I made about $50k in my last 5 months of delivery, so it WAS reasonably typical and wasn’t my only month over $10k.
@Regantdarcy10 ай бұрын
Solid advice for how to maximize your earnings doing gig delivery work. Although this was also during the pandemic when deliveries exploded cause nobody wanted to go out for their food. So maybe now that the pandemic is over 12k in a month would be a lot harder to reach for sure. It’s funny, KZbin videos about food delivery seems to be divided. Half the videos are about how gig work is dead, that uber & doordash will go out of business or how you can’t make any money anymore…while the other half of youtube videos say how you can make $2,000 to $3,000 a week doing it. 😂 it’s either feast or famine.
@callmelil10 ай бұрын
I haven't dashed since I made this video, so I can't attest to the current state of the market, but I did predict it would taper off and eventually come to an end in a later video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHjKnKWbZtpmsLM As per your feast or famine comment, it's kinda funny: around 2 months before this $12k month, I talked 2 of my 3 siblings into doing gig delivery. They constantly complained about it, while not making anything close to what I did (in the same market, at the same time). I did my best to walk them through my strategies, but they were never really able to pull it off. They're both still doing it on and off, and they are pretty much making the same amount of money as they were back then. I love my siblings, but the only conclusion I could really come up with is that there's a certain grit/tenacity required to make this kind of money-tenacity that they just don't have. And maybe most people don't, I don't know

I’m new at this, but I alway worry about my acceptance rating going down because I’m declining orders/rides on one app in lieu of a better one on another app. I’ve been trying to pause the other apps as soon as I accept one but it’s hard to do when your driving sometimes. I know a lot of ppl say don’t worry about the acceptance rating, but I really do feel like since my acceptance rating has gone down, so have the quality of offers, at least on Door Dash.
@callmelil Жыл бұрын
My acceptance rate would sometimes run at 0% for a day or longer and rarely made it above 5%. I don’t think I was ever limited on what they sent me but after a while, Doordash would suddenly start pausing my dash every time I rejected anything. Certainly annoying but better than losing good paying orders for really shitty ones.

it's 5:38 A.M. january 22nd. I dash in 1/2 hour because 50% of my pay is made by 10 a.m. Most days are good, but I've had bad days too. Still beats doing nothing. My goal is $1000 a week, but apparently, I'm burning too much gas and I'm running into app issues lately, like getting the same address for delivery into the address the restaurant is. Have you noticed how many restaurants take too long?
@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
Restaurants do sometimes have waits. I’ll let you in on something I didn’t mention in the video: I am usually about 5 min late to the restaurant. I accept my next order before my current one is finished (running 3 apps), and I will finish that one up before moving in to the next one. It cuts down on wait time a lot more than you might think, and it’s not so late that anyone really notices Also, keep track of which restaurants make you wait. Even keep notes and compile statistics. Figure out which ones are ultimately losing you money and axe them
@godspirate62502 жыл бұрын
@@callmelil I took your advise. !.burger king is understaffed, waited 18 minutes for a burger. no more of them. No more hitting the accept button before i understand the miles. Start denying orders and not worry about it. I did better today. Spent $20 and made 153.00. BIG DIFFERENE! Also, i stay in one area.

@@callmelil it doesn't affect your "on time ratings" if you pick up the order 5 or more minutes late?
@callmelil2 жыл бұрын
@@J__7777 I don’t think so. Mine was set to 97% and never changed the whole time I dashed. Part of me thinks it is either set right at the beginning or doesn’t mean much of anything. Either way, or never went down even when I was clearly late. Be careful not to be more than 10 min late though, because that (sometimes) gets you a contract violation
