So many of you guys asked about the virtual assitant agency I briefly mentioned at the end, I decided to make a website dedicated to the requests: lilassistance.com/. Start or progress your business with the help of a trained, vetted virtual assistant. I've used digital assistants since 2012 to do everything from getting free hotels to web design to customer outreach to article writing and SEO to digital asset creation. Even while I was working Doordash 12 hours/day, I used the time and money to invest in a small agency that did nothing but film, edit, keyword, and upload stock video. And, it continues to pay me thousands of dollars each month in passive income. Finding and training the right people has been among the hardest things I've done in that decade, but it's ultimately been the KEY to almost every success I've had. Today I'm anouncing Lil Assistance (lilassistance.com/). Starting at $4 USD/hour, you can hire the best people on my team to do just about any task done from a keyboard. I only have space to hire out about 5 fulltime (or 10-15 parttime) people, so if you're thinking about using a virtual assistant to further or start your business, now is the time to act. lilassistance.com/ This video will remain unlisted, but you guys can watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGK5nY2ao6etZpY

I agree with you. These gigs can't last forever and we have to work them, plan for the future and save as much as possible. I can see the robot delivery working in major cities where people live all on top of each other but, in the burbs, NO. In the hood, No. A robot or a drone would never survive a delivery in Gary Indiana or the West side of Chicago. LoL 😆 just thinking about it.

@@chrystallee5528 I do know what you mean, and the safety issue is a concern for the companies making these vehicles. It probably won’t stave off every incident, but they have cameras to see every angle, gps, and the ability to talk to people from a control center if the vehicles are being tampered with-that also means they can send police. They also travel as fast as fullspeed cars, so someone would have to catch them As for the burbs-I did the math elsewhere in the comments, but it comes out to at least $500k savings per full sized vehicle over the course of its lifetime, and it could be a lot more depending on decisions delivery apps make. It is speculation, but I believe that will make autonomous vehicles worth having just about everywhere DD currently has a market. The smaller markets will be the last to get them, but I think they’ll be nearly ubiquitous with delivery and taxis in the not too distant future

In my small market, there are no options other than DD......Fortunately, I am 4th Generation in this 1 1/2 mile town and every name of the 3 generations above me is held in high regard in this community. (Examples: 1) Barceloux Bros. still hangs on the overhang for Napa Auto Parts as my grandmothers cousins, 2 brothers, own the bldg. 2) C.F. Koehnen & Sons has been in business since 1907- one of the largest bee keeping & nut hulling companies in the area 3) Millar Farms: my great-grandfather started the business name, my uncle, his namesake, is the most current owner of that business. These type of well established businesses in my rural agricultural community/county is a benefit to my willingness to do deliveries for DD along with personal hire for delivery, along with my vehicle being a pickup, which is for hire for moving/towing/transport needs. I have a transport a 55" TV for $90 pymt. coming up soon. 20 mile round trip drive. No big heavy lifting, just attaching strap-downs, drive, & unattach strap-downs for my effort. Absolutely agree with the concept of this video, everyone should prepare for life without gig apps. One bottleneck these companies may need to calculate is the cost of operating a driverless service. Some driver's are still accepting $2.25 deliveries. Is the cost of depresiation less than $2.25 an order? And here in Michigan, fast food starts between $14-$17/hr for an entry level position. For a lot of driver's, that's probably more than they're earning after deducting vehicle wear-and-tear.
@callmelil
@callmelil 2 жыл бұрын
You have to note that the tax deduction you get for miles driven is way higher than actual depreciation of your car and gas combined…unless you’re driving a Lamborghini or something. The answer to your question about $2.25 orders is “probably yes.” First of all, I have done 12,000 deliveries in about 60k miles. That also includes miles looking for orders, which wouldn’t apply to autonomous vehicles-they’d probably drive fewer miles per order Tesla’s cars are rated for a million miles, with batteries that last around 500k, and the cheapest one is already only $35k. Quick maths would have you believe it could handle around 200k deliveries = $450k at $2.25/order. They may not have the same longevity and there are other expenses to consider, but there are also different types of autonomous vehicles-take a look at the difference between Starship, Nuro, and Motional’s vehicles. I personally believe the cost will come down a lot. Maybe Motional’s will be $25k, Nuro’s $15-20k, and Starship’s just a few grand. Not to mention, that that means I average about 5 miles/order. Those $2.25 orders are mostly closer than that. Also note that even if people accept $2.25 orders, they’d be quickly pushed out of business if they ONLY had $2.25 orders.
@jdogswifty4372
@jdogswifty4372 Жыл бұрын
I know I'm late to this video as I have just started doing doordash again. I am one that will very sparingly take those $2.25 up to like $4.25 orders if A) it is a restaurant I'm sure will have the order ready when or within 60 seconds of arrival (McD for instance), B) delivery distance and pickup is less than 1.5 miles and C) it keeps me in what I know is a Hotspot area. I did 1 hour doing just those deliveries one day to see how I'd do and I hit 10 deliveries in 1 hour netting me close to $35 for the hour and totalled just 13 miles driven.

I fill up my tank before I start each night. I usually add around $60. I can make anywhere from $225-400 (with no bonuses) per day, running 8hrs-10hrs. I will say one thing: food delivery is better per mile, but driving people is better per hour. It's a hard mix to master, but you have to know when to NOT drive people and when to NOT deliver food. If you're doing a lot of $3 deliveries, you're gonna make $12-15/hr if they don't tip. with tips, you can make up to $27-30/hr. With driving people, LONG trips will net you a lot more. Driving someone 20miles at $0.13/minute for $0.60/mile is gonna net you alot more than driving two or three people 4 miles (which will net you like $4/trip). The short trips means no one is in your vehicle, as you're driving 4 mins to get to someone (for free) to drive them for 10mins. That's 14-16mins per person - which means you can do this about 4 times per hour. If you're getting $4/trip for those trips, you're getting $16/hr - and if they each tipped you $5, then you're getting $36/hr. That's the difference: making sure you wanna do food (and average around $2-3 per mile of driving, or if you wanna do people and try to maximize TIPS to fill up the time spent that hour driving TO people (where you're not paid a dime). I do both, as I do cancel rides/deliveries that don't fit a profitable scheme. I've declined 120min trips (to another city down south) because I have no ride back. That's two hours of driving THERE - which is good, but then two hours driving BACK...unpaid, on my own fuel. I've done that before and it was a bad deal. The best deals for me is food delivery where you snag two deliveries at one restaurant (pays anywhere from $7 to $24) and then get tips on that. I've literally made $65/hr doing delivery, but I've also made over $100/hr doing people. That's rare, but it happens a lot when doing events and people feel good to be picked up. They tip $25-30 without blinking. I've been tipped $80 for a ten-minute ride and I've been tipped $200 for a 20-min ride. Happens, but not something you can count on. Takes a special passenger to appreciate you to that degree. But FOOD DELIVERY is for the person that wants to use LESS FUEL, even tho you may not make that much per hour. But you'll run a full day and still have a quarter tank of fuel left after you clock expires, where driving people will run you til the gas light comes on, and you'll have the same amount of money if the tips aren't coming thru for driving people. Sorry it's so long, but this is for people who are STRATEGIZING and not just turning a key in the ignition, thinking of getting a lot of money. Takes some plotting, so plot well and be safe out there!

Uber has already started allowing people to rent their cars to drivers.

In my experience DD values drivers who accept majority of the orders. Meaning they're more lenient and less likely to deactivate your account if they see your account as valuable to their bottom line (fulfilling as many orders as possible in your market regardless of how low the offers are to increase their profits). I did DD solely for 3 years (2018 to 2021) straight. I've learned how the system works over those 3 years and completed thousands of orders. I still dash today but i also multi-app and see the pay go down. An exit plan from these gig apps will be necessary in the next few years.

Everything you mention here can be said about almost any job. New technology comes and people get laid off, that's just how life goes. Self checkout at grocery stores, mechanical arms on garbage trucks, mechanics on conveyor belts in warehouses, I could literally go on all day. Most jobs aren't sustainable and people should not simply get a job/career and think they are set for life. People should always have a few streams of income and not rely on one job to take care of them for 30-40 years, for most that is not realistic.

Yes and no. If you are following along with my 4 points, the first one is about emerging markets. The reason this job pays well is, so far, it has been exploding in popularity with the arrival of new tech. The intense compeition over drivers moves the price way up. Most jobs/industries are already established, and even if they weren't, it's rare for anything to grow so fast, and for a handful of companies all trying to make a mad grab for market dominance (each with virtually unlimited money). These jobs pay well, but your pay is completely at the mercy of a very fast-changing market. 2) algorithms don't really change the efficiency of garbage routes to reduce the number of drivers needed-not in any meaningful way anyway. Can this have some affect on some jobs? Sure, but it would be hard to argue it has a larger affect anywhere other than gig work, especially because it probably won't reduce an hourly worker's wage. 3) Tech definitely affects other jobs and gets rid of some, but I don't think we have ever seen anything on the same scale that we will see when Autonomous vehicles become mass produced. This will affect much more than delivery drivers, of course..but these delivery companies are at the forefront of this tech.
@bobbycigarillo
@bobbycigarillo 2 жыл бұрын
@@callmelil the thing with autonomous vehicles is that some state legislation will allow it at first and some won't, so personally I don't think we'll see a mass layoff all at once. We're also still a long way away from that. Either way my point still stands, job markets are forever changing and that's just the way economics works. Detroit used to be the heart of the work force in America, now its a ghost town and it looks like a bomb went off there. Moral of the story regarding literally ANY job/gig/career, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I agree 100% about these companies not caring about the drivers and only concerned about a profit. Of course the drivers being the biggest expense want to cut costs there and be as efficient as possible. But America is bad at infrastructure and it would require major changes to accomodate driverless cars and robots safely and effectively. To the point where I don't think it will be a reality for 75- 100 years. What I say is once another country gets it down then we should be concerned it might get here in 20 years from then which is about how much we lag.
@callmelil
@callmelil 2 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is I believe the fact that America has such poor infrastructure is the _reason_ we will have driverless cars sooner than elsewhere in the world. I have traveled all over the world, and the fact is our roads are top notch compared to what's out there, even in other parts of the developed world. Everywhere except maybe Scandinavia and Germany, but Scandinavia isn’t very dense, and the majority of Germans are reluctant to accept tech like this (they don’t even really use credit cards yet). But our population sparcity and our dependence on cars, make building things like trains very difficult and inefficient. If we had better rail systems, there probably wouldn't be nearly the same demand for self driving cars as people aren't really having to deal with the negative affects of cars in the first place. Not even going far into it, I have done this job in London and Berlin (I live in London now). There is way more money to be made in America. Consequently, there is way more money to be saved by automating as much and as quickly as possible. Don’t get me wrong, this will also happen in around the world. European giant, Just Eat (who owns grubhub) is working with the same company that Doordash is working with to make this reality. Delivery robots already exist in my city (London) and are gaining ground Even if you don’t buy that explanation, driverless cars are already being rolled out in some markets. Uber Eats is rolling out early this year, Lyft is rolling out next year, Doordash has already rolled out delivery robots, and is working on their own driverless cars. Even dominoes has its own fleets in some markets. Uber had said self driving cars are “key to their profitability.” Their main hurdles at this point are regulatory and we are, by nature, a risk-taking bunch of people. IMO, it is only a matter of (a small amount of) time. While fun to speculate, that isn't the main point of this video. I do want to re-iterate to people that regardless of your thoughts on self-driving cars, wages from these apps will go down over time, and it's up to us to plan and prepare for the future.

@@brewdog8568 some apps (Uber Eats) are already using customer’s GPS locations, rather than simply an address. There may be some combination of the two to get to the customer. Support agents in foreign countries also routinely change addresses for us, and they may end up doing the same for these autonomous vehicles. Some of the vehicles (the company that makes doordash’s robots, for example) are small and drive up on the sidewalk, and they all have LiDAR that helps them get around roads and obstacles-maybe even forging their own route to a set of GPS coordinates. Nuro’s machines are a great middle ground between Road-worthy car and tiny robots that go on the sidewalk. Google them if you get the chance There are issues to work out, but even in their current form, it’s not a stretch to say they could handle 75%+ of all deliveries. Once they start getting widespread regulatory approval, price will go down as production goes up and tech improves. Deliveries will likely be cheaper, ranges will likely be larger, and for that, I think most people will be willing to walk the extra 20ft to the end of their driveway

But he says he’s turned down orders for say $8. His wife gets the same exact order for $7 or $6.50. Where did the rest of the tip go? How does $1-$1.50 of the tip disappear? Interesting.

Thank you for your kind words! Do you want to know the truth of how they go about it? It's not that the $1-1.5 of the tip disappears, but the tip supplements the base pay..and they reduce the base pay. The result is the same: they basically stole the tip, but in a twist of legal lingo, they didn't. "100% of the tip goes to the driver," but dependent on the tip amount, they may reduce the base pay. They supposedly don't do this anymore, but there is no telling what lengths they'll go to to keep as much of the money as they can.

Great video bro I did Instacart/Uber for 2 years worked my butt off doing 80 hour weeks (was a toll on my body) and was able to save up 100k after taxes (miles deduction helped a lot and my expenses is low as I live with my parents). Money was great for a gig job and I was almost content with living this life forever but it took one random video I saw on KZbin that hit me that gig life should not be a job u do forever and should be a stepping stone for a better career. I started learning about selling on Amazon doing wholesale and with 100k I saved up I gradually started to sell on Amazon, while still doing Instacart/Uber, came to a point where I did not need to do gigs no more and did 800k in sales last year and around 30% profit from the sales. I’m in a much better situation in my life mentally and physically (no more toll on body and 80hrs/week) and thankful I am done with the gig life but at the same time I am blessed that these gig jobs gave me a stepping stone for my real career that I honestly think it would of been a different story if I worked a minimum wage job or low paying job so I am forever in debt to the gig life. Yeah Elon musk has been promising self driving was here for half a decade. Even now in an investor call he admitted the problem is harder than he thought and that the last few percent to get is there could be years away. How would self driving food delivery even work? The restaurant employees putting food into the car? They can barely staff them good enough to pay attention when we walk in the door. Then the car has to find it’s way to the customer in all kinds of weather conditions, deal with wrong addresses AND the customer has to what…come outside and get their own food? Or what? Yeah. Food delivery isn’t going away soon just because fancy adaptive cruise control is a thing. This video was just off the mark. About 10 years too early and even then, the technology and regulatory issues might still not be there

A much better argument would be “this won’t happen in smaller cities and towns. They will always need drivers because the investment of driverless vehicles is too high when volume is so low.” At least that’s speculation we ultimately can’t know for sure. Fact is, what you call impossible is already reality in some markets. Uber Eats is already rolling out driverless cars. Lyft announced they would do so next year (theirs with passengers). Doordash has already deployed delivery robots, and is working on their own self driving cars. Even dominos-which is only one restaurant chain-has rolled out driverless deliveries in some markets (their little cars are so cute). Uber went as far as to say self driving cars will be their "key" to profitibility. Tesla was just the first major player in this space, and certainly has their place in it, but they're not the only competitor around, nor are they the furthest along or most advanced. This is already reality in some markets and is lot closer to being widespread than you think. Also, I don't know why driverless deliveries would work for the restaurant any differently than curbside pickup does already. It really isn't that complicated, and it's already happening. But this isn't even the whole takeaway from the video. These apps will continue to pay less as they get more efficient and gain market dominance. What are you doing to prepare for that day when it doesn't make sense anymore?

@callmelil
@callmelil 2 жыл бұрын
I’ll link how I did it (my old video) here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5KXaoqCj5mMqqM. I made $12k that month. I wouldn’t work like that for a full year, but if I did, that’s $144k. Obviously surpassing $100k I also already wrote a synopsis of how it’s done, so I’ll paste that below, but first with the gas: I bought a 2005 Prius for $2500, it saved me roughly $500/month with as much as I was driving-paid for itself entirely in unused gas in only 5 months. I’d definitely recommend picking one up if you can. Imagine this: You make $22/hour on a single app, taking about 3 orders/hour-that’s roughly where I was when I did Doordash for the first time. You set some rules that tighten up where you’re allowed to deliver from. Some are hard rules, some are soft-as tempting as a big delivery is, you never grab from ihop or denny’s for example, because they’ll definitely make you wait (insert whatever restaurant here that’s bad in your experience). You’re up to about $24/hour. Now imagine multi-apping-cherrypicking only the biggest orders you think are available in your market right now. You can do this, because multiple apps gives you more volume, more to choose from. You keep track of what kind of orders come through at this time of day and week, and reject everything until you find something on the higher end of way you expect this time and day. You’re up to $27/hour. Now you’re getting quite confident, you know what restaurants make you wait, you know the boundaries of your market, so you feel comfortable stacking. Every third delivery or so, you done another delivery from another app going to roughly the same place as the one you’re taking right now. Maybe this is worth $7, maybe $15, but crucially, it adds very little extra time. Since you find one every third delivery, that’s roughly one every hour, and you immediately jump from $27 to $35/hour. And that is all it takes. The numbers may not work out exactly like that, and they’ll be different from day to day, hour to hour, market to market, but that’s the gist It’s hard and it takes practice. You will screw up at first, but it’s worth it

@@factsmatter1172 In the video about my $12k month, I averaged just a touch over 12 hours/day, which counted the moment I left my house to the moment I arrived back home. I don't really pay attention to active dash time vs total dash time, because I'm multi-apping and it doesn't really mean much. And you're absolutely right. I'm not going to mince words, it was very hard work. I try to tell people they will have hard-even depressing days-and you HAVE to have a reachable end goal, one big thing and many small things to look forward to. I'm still young and blessed with good health, and as a former software developer, I'd like to think I have a pretty good analytical brain. At the beginning, I even wrote a program that measured and compared wait times, order frequency, and payouts, so I knew for sure which restaurants to hang around. I recognize not everyone may have the same physical and mental capacity (not trying to toot my own horn, just reality)....but even if you only take the hourly wage, and you didn't want to put all those hours in, $35/hour is still more than I've ever made as a web/software developer (aged 19-25) or photographer (aged 25 - present). That sounds like an excessive amount on gas. What are you driving? I picked up a 2005 Prius for $2500, and was spending about $400/month, driving 12 hours a day, 30 days/month. I'm not saying you should go out and do the same thing, but think about the price of a used hybrid, and how long it would take to pay itself off in gas alone. 4 months? 5 months? It's probably not long

Also, I break down exactly why I predict this will happen, and I’m telling people that right now, there’s still time to strike.. it’s just a good idea to diversify your income-unsure why that would be a controversial message Also, your 65% stat is off base. It assumes the old way of doing business. We’ve moved into a new era where people are simply working for themselves, sometimes with multiple streams of income. And every new venture is a transition to the next one, business is smaller and more fluid. You, as a delivery driver, are running one of these “new era” businesses. What you said about ghosting drivers. I swear that has been going on with me in the last week. I have been driving for doordash for a little over 2 years, I know the restraunts and the right orders to accept. They have been giving me only $2 and $3 dollar orders, then my app freezes up or won't let me complete orders, won't show the address. I've actually had good orders show up, and after I accept, it gives me an error screen and says I can't do it. Then the app keeps pausing my dash before I can get any orders. One dash of 3 hours, I only made $8 but put a lot of miles on my car. On my last order they offered $18 to drive 2 orders from the same restraunt. I drove there and picked up tje orders. But then couldnt get the addresses for the people that ordered. I spent an hour calling doordash help line. Finally I told them I would just take the orders back into the restraunt. And they could figure out how to get them delivered. (The poor hungry customers) At the same time I see texts from other drivers, saying they're doing great. Then doordash pays out incentives anywhere from $50 to $500. They seem to like to get new drivers who dont know better than to drive more miles than the $'s they earn. Till they have to buy new tires. Pay taxes or put $4 dollar a gallon gas in their car. Basically you realize youre not making much and your car will wear out driving but you wont be able to buy a new one. We learn to be very careful what orders we accept. And then they just round up a new batch of drivers

So many people tell me Doordash is "so glitchy" and "they can't even get their app right. How would they ever command autonomous vehicles?" I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Doordash app is glitchy BY DESIGN. Support is Sh*tty BY DESIGN. They want high turnover, they want to spend as litlle as possible. They gain nothing by making your job easier. Separate issue but similar and I can't prove it, but I believe each gig app company has something of a "hit list"-maybe you didn't break the rules, so they won'y kick you off, but they're not making as much money off you as they would off a new recruit, so they'll look to make your life harder-maybe look for an excuse to deactivate you. Just a couple of the many reasons I hope you're using the apps to creat something new. Invest in yourself. Are you building anything now?

That's what this video is about-this job that paid me around $35/hour is soon going to be a min wage job and a bit further on, won't exist at all-not because people won't be getting delivery, but because the majority of deliveries will eventually be fulfilled autonomously

1.1k views so I know this probably won't be seen, but I'm going to say it anyways. This is true. As some point in the near future we aren't going to have jobs. Just look at the Tesla SAV agenda. Those Tesla owners will be able to press a button and the car will go to work for you. This is to deliver products and also work as a taxi or Uber. The way it's going to work is companies will get an order and the Tesla will pull up. From the Tesla app the store will be notified that it has arrived. The store will bring the order out to the car. The car will drive to the drop off location. Then from the app it will notify the customer that it has arrived. The customer will come outside to the car and receive the order. Simple and doesn't need us. Also subscribed.

I have seen that-Musk predicted a new Tesla could go to work while you're not using it and pay for itself in something like 2 years. Musk's goals are always a bit overambitious, but we will get there before you know it. Here in the UK, we already have fully automated warehouses, and it's recently become economically feasible to install fully automated kitchens. I went a little further into it in one of my more recent videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqSuYZiGnZWaga8. It's going to be a very interesting and unpredictable next couple of decades

Organizing is absolutely the right move and our lack in collective action, I believe, is the primary reason that wages have not kept up with productivity in the US since the 80's. It still won't last forever though. Eventually, tech and automation will creep into this sector and put more and more people out of work. I hope you are working on diversification

These have been cleared for launch in the next couple months in Santa Monica and next year in Vegas: fortune.com/2021/11/10/motionals-driverless-taxi-fleet-will-expand-worldwide-after-vegas-2023-launch-ceo-says/ These are already being used in Houston, among other places: www.nuro.ai/ and has now partnered with Kroger These are already being used in my city (London), among other places: www.starship.xyz/ Autonomous vehicles aren’t just coming soon, they’re already here. The only speculative question is how widespread they’ll be in a decade. The great thing about autonomous vehicles is they work around our existing infrastructure. Where will they be charged? If Kroger has fleets of them for grocery delivery, wouldn’t they just house them in their warehouses? It doesn’t seem that complex. As far as Doordash, e-scooters are already using individuals to get them charged. I don’t know what they’re ultimately going to decide, but they could easily drive to a partner’s house-no new infrastructure needed. Doordash is also building something called Dashmart. Officially, how they replace convenience stores but could also serve as charging hubs. The sky is literally the limit, and those are the easy questions to answer Also, bro, my video is less than 20 min. Click away if you don’t like it, I didn’t ask you to be here. Lots of people will “just go get other jobs”, but many people don’t want to do that, I’m just trying to warn people to take ownership in something now.

So far I’ve been doing Uber as a walker since 2018 I have roughly over 600 deliveries but this past two weeks after the New Year’s. I feel like I’ve been ghosted in other terms I will state online for excessive amount of hours and all I do is less than a handful of deliveries, I’m a homeless person and I’m trying to make ends meet and earning money the right way in the legal way. It’s nearly impossible to compete with people on bikes and other people use an E scooters and mopeds I strongly feel like 2023 is the year that the walkers feature on Uber will probably die out and DoorDash is even worse because it’s by scheduling and availability what hurts me the most people such as myself we can’t afford to buy a bike or a scooter or moped. Normally, my a professional occupation is security officer. Even if a region or market has a dominant food delivery company, drivers could still sign-up with competitors. And if orders start coming in more slowly, you can have multiple apps active simultaneously, so that they’re then competing for your time and availability, based on which app offers you an order first. Rideshare drivers have done that during slower driving seasons (particularly between Lyft and Uber), or if one app begins limiting rides offered to a driver.
@callmelil
@callmelil 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's true, and multi-appers are going to continue to do better than people who stick to one app. But as one app comes to dominate the market, even if there are still competitors, they will be naturally inclined to pay less-they don't have to compete for drivers, and as they gain efficiency, the market for drivers could become oversaturated, even without adding new drivers. The competitors will probably pay more per delivery (to make sure the few orders get fulfilled), but they will also not be able to give you many orders, and in some cases, won't be busy enough to stay in the market-deciding to focus resources elsewhere. This process already took place with Postmates 2 years ago in the market where I recorded my $12k month video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5KXaoqCj5mMqqM and the same thing is apparently happening to Uber Eats right now. UE can't compete with DD, drivers don't get orders, drivers stop going online on UE, UE can't fulfill whatever few orders they have, UE will eventually be forced to pull out of the market. DD consolidates that market and depresses wages, because they know they're not competing with UE in any meaningful way. Is it that simple? Are there exceptions? Yeah, obviously. You could come up with a thousand what if's and driver adaptations, and the competition WILL last longer in big cities, but the trend remains: wages are going down, and will continue to do so. The same thing will happen with your example between Lyft and Uber. In a big city, the competition will last longer, but ultimately they're carving their territory. Every market will eventually have a dominant player. You may take a Lyft every once in a while, but you depend on Uber. Uber knows that and has no incentive to compete with Lyft on pay. Even if there's a stalemate, while everyone starts multi-apping and both apps become saturated with drivers, where do you think that leaves you? It's all about demand and supply.

Uber can't figure out which roads are closed, which roads are one way, etc. To this day Uber tells me to use a sidewalk to get through campus. As long as people are driving cars and the cars aren't driving them I know those delivery cars will be a fail. Door Dash pays nearly nothing in Canada. Instacart is offering batches to multiple stores now? So an hour at one store then drive to another store and grocery shop there. No extra pay. I already mentioned how f'up Cornershop is. Skip the dishes "which I believe are only in Canada" pays a minimum of $6. And that is only if you keep your acceptance rating high. Never mind the crap tips that you either don't get or a reduced because you can't find a product on a shelf. Forget food delivery because now I encounter more people claiming I didn't even deliver their food or groceries. It's back Uber. It's a taxi service.
