I’d kill to see a return to this sub-series. There’s still a lot of mysterious video game industry secrets just waiting to be unsealed and unsolved. Heck, I recall you wanting to do a video about Microsoft’s first three Xbox exclusive fighters (Dead or Alive 3, Kakuto Chojin: Back Alley Brutal and Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus) and why they pushed extra hard into making them big hits. That would be the perfect way to jump back into the Flophouse Files. When you’re fully ready, of course.

It is a fantastic series from our greasy content lord from back in the day. Bug Report is also missed by this guy, and the one I’d like to see make a comeback in a big way the most is “Matt’s Nightmares”. The man just consistently makes great compilations though doesn’t he? What Happened and Worst Fighting Game being easy examples. Matt is just the best.

I’d love for this series to return. Definitely more noir-tinged case files to peruse. I remember the Darkstalkers case coming out the day after the SFV Season V announcement, because I went from being absolutely ecstatic over Akira’s inclusion (and believing a Rival Schools collection would be announced soon to take advantage of it) to undeniably livid upon learning that Capcom deliberately sabotaged the Darkstalkers Resurrection project. Even choosing not to give it the Udon art treatment like with SSF2THDR, to announce in a month that it failed, despite being included in a sales chart (which could easily have been used as ad spin for more sales), effectively dooming it to low sales since it would not be given official tournament presence. Yes, Darkstalkers is niche, it won’t ever reach SF2 numbers, but it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy when you perform boneheaded decisions like that.

Darkstalkers kind of got something during that time period Theres a PS3 game called Cross Edge in collaboration with compile heart where most of the main DS cast appear as part of the story, while its an rpg its also an rpg with a combo system that plays out more like an arena fighter, but in 2d, lol.
