But but… iT hAs So MuCh ToRqUe Honestly these prices are insane. You get less bang for your buck than ever before with a Tacoma. You want a powered rear window and powered driver seat? That be a $4000 package add on. You want dual climate control? That’ll be an $8000 package on add. And, in my opinion, tuning the hybrids to focus more on power over MPG is not the right move. How many mid-size truck owners are actually towing heavy loads and need that much power? I would argue not that many. MPG on the other hand… I’m sure a lot of people would happier to save thousands on fuel

@davehenderson61259 ай бұрын
Same here, a loyal Toyota customer who's right in the middle of what I expect is their target demographic. I love Toyotas but the new Tacoma isn't worth what they're charging. They're taking advantage of customers by putting them into financial distress with insane prices. They're also taking advantage of Mexican autoworkers who can't possibly afford what they're building because of their terrible wages. The two just don't compute. Both these things are a betrayal to what I thought was Toyota's commitment to constant improvement & good value. I checked out a new Tacoma today at a local dealer, and I wasn't impressed for what they're charging. It's a nice looking truck with an imposing silhouette & wide stance, but I think the hood would be difficult to see over. Plastics are not as soft as they appear & the shiny black plastic seems easily scratchable. The headlights are small too, so they'll be covered with mud & slush in no time on the trail or highway. I couldn't imagine taking a $65,000 Tacoma off-road either. I'd have somebody running in front of the truck with pruning shears & a shovel to clear branches & move rocks so my investment (worth almost 2 years of retirement I'm saving for) doesn't get damaged. How much would its value drop if I got branch scratches all over it? I'm (kind of) kidding about the pruning shears & shovel but Toyota is definitely exploiting peoples' excitement for the new Tacoma with zero regard for what buying one will do to many of them financially. Remember that debt is the way slavery continues to thrive in the modern world, and Toyota wants to be your new master. Edit: readability

All i see are 4runner/Tacoma with $25000 of aftermarket parts , trd pro is saving you money with warranty. That 4 cylinder is awsome, direct and tune port injection. Can't wait for aftermarket, Had a ride in trd pro at barrett jackson and they launched it. Its fast. Trx had a softer landing but its on 37s

I hate the way they do their packages too. I saw $65k for the TRD Pro and figured I could just get a TRD Off-Road with the hybrid powertrain, and a $48k starting point didn't seem too bad. When I started building and upgraded the seat material ... BAM, added $8k to the price. It's crazy. I'm out at this point. Probably going with a ZR2.

They don’t even have features. On the sticker it had all weather mats and door protection lol for an sr5 for 42k. I test drive one and it was okay, more plastic interior. Was driving good until the glovebox started rattling a little on a bumpy road. The salesman said they can put felt on it, smh.

I have the 2020 TRD Off road I paid 38,000 for, I was upgrading this year to the 2024 but I just can't spend that much for this truck. It sucks but looks like I'm going to the Nissan Pro 4-X. Kills me I've been a Toyota guy for 30 years.
@Captndarty9 ай бұрын
None of these Toyotas are worth these outrageous prices. The funny thing is when I was a younger man and made a lot less money I was willing to spend a lot more for a new truck. Now that I’m making a boatload more I’m much less interested in needing the “Social validation” of a new top of the line vehicle. And lastly we’ve been asking for all these features and tech. Toyotas has mostly given us what we want, which surprise isn’t cheap. And now we complain about the cost. So pathetically human of us.
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD9 ай бұрын
"social validation" is why these "trucks" are expensive... they are cubicle-duty and all manufacturers know this... the cat's out of the bag and the manufacturers are exploiting emasculated men who feel they "need" a work truck when they aren't doing any actual pickup truck work with it...

Trucks are used for their utility. You buy them to carry stuff around in and tow stuff. If these trucks are meant for those two purposes, no need to splash on all the bells and whistles! They’re meant for work. It’s crazy seeing some people with the previous generation Tacoma talking about trading theirs in with it’s a fine, super reliable truck.

NISSAN FRONTIER PRO4X!!!!!! That’s the truck to buy, omg why can’t people just look at things with out being biased. Honestly if you have the space buy a used NISSAN PR04X with 10-15k miles for 45k and get way more bang for your buck. I am a Toyota tech and it’s not worth it. This is crazy!!! Believe be changing a turbo on a truck like this will be expensive, especially in the Midwest where exhaust bolts rust out by 5 years of ownership. You think it’s going to be a cheap/fun job to replace a turbo when this thing is 12 years old with 180k miles.

I traded a 2018 Tacoma Sport premium 4x4, which was perfect except white paint peeling. I stopped by my local dealership just to take a look, and low and behold there was a 23 TRD Sport 4x4 in Barcelona red premium 4x4? This was late November 22. I was happy with my 18 but wanted the last gen with a V-6 but never thought I would be able to trade without taking a big loss. I spoke with them and they offered me within 2000 dollars that I gave for mine and I to called the wife and she said get it! There was a market adjustment increase on it and I was able to have that removed and received another discount for having a high credit score if I financed it with Toyota Credit. So I traded and I love my 23 [ I miss the cd player though[ I think I'm happy with my decision so far after what is happening now. These new Tacoma's are really nice but they are making them for the EPA and not the consumer and a v-6 will probably be available in the future. By the way the only reason I stopped by local dealer was to get a price on new tires at 58,000 trouble free miles for my 18 Taco! Wound up with new tires and a new Taco on top of them and paid it off in January 23.

TRD Pro is a luxury purchase. Toyota's been pushing it that way for the last several years. I'm not surprised at all that the TRD Pro Tacoma is that much. But, I will say that for a regular TRD, I don't think I have a problem with the price at all. The overall truck is a big upgrade. As far as demand goes, I think they're just making a ton of these. Some are sitting around, but if you watch inventory and availability on dealer sites, there are A LOT more on the way than there are on the lots.

There’s so many good midsize trucks in the space. I don’t know what Toyota is thinking in terms of these prices, they are not in line with some of the really good offerings like Ford Raptor Ranger, Colorado, ZR2 and even the value offering Nissan frontier with its naturally aspirated, V6 .

Appreciate you Untamed - nicely done!! Think everything is coming full circle, and now….now it is our turn….the almighty consumer!!! What these greedy dealerships are now realizing is that there is no demand, consumers are fed up with pricing, weak engines, and the fleecing that dealers exercised during the pandemic.

I really do like what they did with the new Tacoma as far as cosmetics, interior features and the turbo 4. I owned a 2018 TRD Pro (for 3 months and 2300 miles) and disliked the performance especially the 6 speed auto trans shift programming. I then did a demo ride and drove a 2019 Ford Ranger with the 2.0 turbo (auto) and just about everything about it was better from the power to the trans to turning radius and interior. The only thing about the Tacoma that was better was maybe the looks (opinion) and the ride was a bit better, but it was a TRD pro with the Fox shocks so I wasn't comparing to a standard or off road taco. Usually when new model vehicles come out they don't jump this much in price. My Tacoma was about $47,000, I think

Common theme is many prior generation Toyota owners are going to hold on to their vehicles until they break down or get wrecked. No MPG improvement can over come financing a $60,000 mid size truck at a 6-8% interest rate.
