I still wish they’d bring out a VR console -- not a high-end device with photorealistic graphics, not a pure nostalgia toy with safe elevator muzak remixes of Asteroids and Breakout, but a trance-inducing Llamasoft delivery platform. Would they be able to pull it off, and would it sell? Probably not!

Needs to be 60-120 fps of pure retro goodness, and yes, a huge dose of Llamasoft.

@@IntoTheVerticalBlank I think I like the idea so much because it would be a thing with a real identity and not easily replaced with a generic laptop or whatever other computer or console you have lying around that could run Polybius and Tempest 4000. Although I guess you could add VR goggles to those. But it wouldn't have fake woodgrain, big klonky metal switches, and be all in one!

I agree that they key is to not create "a box" or a "box with a screen" that is more expensive than, and easily replaceable by better and cheaper consoles, phones, etc. I would like see support for physical media as well.

I want excessive use of retro Atari games as metaphors. Speaking in Canyon Climber, there was a retro videogame special where Canyon Climber was the final challenge. I am curious what it is.

There are few of those stories brewing, but they take time. There is an HD remaster of "Lost Dutchman" almost done though.

@IntoTheVerticalBlank a reason why I want to track down what show had Canyon Climber in it, is it started off with a video of a digging videogame where one dug diagonally. I thought it might be Robby Roto but I believe I am wrong.
